- Mark has brought back a bunch of beers from his European travels, I've been all the way to my local Waitrose for some English ales. In this video we drink our way through them whilst answering questions from my patrons. Includes news on Project Awesome!

Your discussion about comments is spot on. And I'm sorry to report that the bigger your channel gets, the worse the comments get. People who say "just don't let it bother you" don't understand the sheer scale of it. It chips away at everyone, eventually.
I remember one video where a common myth was being posted to "correct" me (usually in an incredibly insulting way, even though _they_ were wrong). I was cutting and pasting a response with a link to the correct information almost a hundred times in two hours, so that other readers weren't misinformed. That's not scalable.
One bit of advice: switchings comments to "Hold all comments for review" has _no_ negative effects on the algorithm, and lets you keep the most dangerous misinfo and insults out of the comments section. Or, at least, gives you time to respond to them without it festering.
The bit about "are they right? does it matter? do you care?" is very succinct, and I am definitely going to share that with other creators I work with.

I’d love to RUclips my off grid journey in Italy. But I honestly don’t have the strong enough ego and patience for the negativity on the internet. I moved away from the world for a reason. I like the peace and quiet and lack of drama the modern world is full of, don’t need a doorway back into it.

When you said "Suspicious Minds" I instantly panicked into a "oh please don't say Elvis Please !" And then when you came through with the FYC version my relief was palpable. That might have been a deal breaker for me. Phew.

Welcome to 2024 from NZ chaps. Long term fan and even have our wee lad onboard now. Watching your hands on, give it a shot approach has been inspirational for me. Even stripped back our 4 stroke mower engine to get it purring this week, wouldnt have given it a shot had I not been a viewer mate.
As an aside, Stiegl is my pick of the teutonic beers. No nonsense, decent body and refreshing. Very good on draught.

Good video as usual. You guys are entertaining. I like the wood wall behind the couch. I just salvaged some American Chestnut from taking down an old tobacco barn here in South Central Virginia and was able to cut some boards from it on my sawmill. Unfortunately it is quite old and has a lot of rot. This wood Reminds me some of your wood behind the couch. I am building a mancave on the second story of my barn with all kinds of rustic wood I am getting from my property.

With the thoughts on the ZIL roof, all I can now think of is Jeremy Clarkson's "Sports Lorry" from the Top Gear Burma special where he cut the roof off and fitted (poorly) a canvas top... :P

You got running water flowing through the pond? 🤔
Then you can use a trompe to generate compressed air with the water flow and use the air to create air bubbles which can be used to pump water via an air lift pump.
The major benefit doing this is: You can bubble the air also in the slick of the pond, stirring it up a bit and pumping small amounts of it constantly up as well.
So you don't only get water for irrigation, but also clean the pond, provide it with plenty of oxigen and get fresh nutrients to your fields.

What a good vlog beer engineering projects, a few personal titbits, it was good to hear how you handle trolls and people who just want to hurt you, I can imagine from the disclaimer put out at the end pt2 will be pretty interesting to say the least, good on both of you,
Something that may interest you both, there’s a traction engine museum called the thursford collection they do yearly Christmas shows, here’s the thing though they have a large collection of showground organs (I think that’s right) that used to belt out tunes all over fairs in the Uk, it may be worth an adventure with the BMW or Kermit to come have a look see, they may be able to help you source any awkward parts, I’m nothing to do with them but it never hurts to ask.

I know Thursford well. .I had a great aunt who lived in Norwich, who we used to visit every Summer. She was a friend of George Cushing, who was the founder of the Thursford collection. I was still very young at the time, but we went to Thursford on a number of occasions and even met George himself!
It was probably hearing Robert Wolfe playing the Wurlitzer there which sparked my early interest in pipe organs all those year ago! :)

Back in the 1980s, my old dad did his brewing on the back of the fridge and the heat exachanger used to keep it nice and warm.... but fridges in those days were loads less efficient than nowdays and did put out quite a noticeable warmth... our house was damn near sub zero back then too.

With regards to the brewing temps, it it looks like the weather is getting unusually hot switch to a kweik yeast, its at its best at warm temperatures and will happily finish your fermentation in 3 or 4 days

Love your off grid and maintenance to your house do you have any plans to do any updates?
I've done many updates for my patrons including full build series for the battery room and solar upgrades.
I have a toilet in a shed that flushes using rain water. All it attracts is Spiders. Luckily not Australian.
