    What type of fuel line is this? I am not sure what my RV fuel line is made of. I am guessing rubber since a guy tried to fix and put a couple hose clamps on it. Can this work with rubber and do you have to use hose clamps? Thanks!

    • @LonnieJohnson1
      @LonnieJohnson1  Год назад

      It's a hard plastic, not rubber. If you use rubber you will need to use a permanent clamp that wont work loose. Also depending on were the hose is connected you might get away with regular clamps. You don't want to have to take your gas tank back off if it starts leaking.

    I need to do this, under the car too. Most videos only show how to do this on the bench. Great info here!
    Do you use the high or low setting on the heat gun? What do you reccomend to do if I don't use enough heat, and the barb on gets halfway on?
    Thanks 🍺👍!!

    • @LonnieJohnson1
      @LonnieJohnson1  2 года назад +2

      High heat for 30 sec. If you only have low heat I would add another 15 to 30 sec to the time. The barb will start cooling as soon as you insert the tube and needs to be fully inserted. Push it on as fast as you can, or you will have to pull it apart and repeat the process.

They wanted $250 for the tow, and $550 to replace the whole line. I had a rabbit or a squirrel chew on my fuel line. As if that wasn't bad enough I'm lucky the car didn't catch on fire when I went to start it. Using a heat gun was the best way and I'm thankful for your video!

    I tried using this method after a buddy of mine broke the quick connector coming outta the fuel filter, this "kit" is nothing more than a"band-aid", a VERY temporary "fix".......within 2 months, it somehow sprang a fuel leak while I was driving.....the cheap ass fuel line somehow sliid most of the way off of the metal insert, which naturally added about an inch and 1/2 of length to the line, and then it ended up getting crimped, which caused the fuel leak.....so, the money and effort saved by going this route was negated by the fact of being broke down at a traffic light in a high traffic areas and then the cost of the tow fee.....all around, just a complete half ass shortcut way of fixing the issue
