Come to japfest UK!
Gonna be a really nice giveaway car.
Is the gearing in the rearend different in a manual than an auto or are they the same?
Build a cool car porche content is not it
Man’s is used to close ratio Japanese cars that were meant to cruise at 55 but this thing is an autobahn warrior
Especially evos etc
200kmh 6th Gear 2k rpm Just cruising along :)
Close ratio often starts after 2nd gear. On most racetracks 1st isn't used.
E30 M3 has the first gear in the most weird place, because its only used to get going.
Yup. German gears are comical.

Half expecting Jackstand to walk into the frame carrying a bottle of nitrous as Adam's "trick-up-the-sleeve"
Can't wait to hear this thing with an actual exhaust, crossover pipe should make a big difference
I worked for Porsche during the 1990's, so I know how big of an improvement the 911 of that age is going from the Tiptronic to a manual. Nice build.
I have an 84 Carrera. 230ish wheel is nice power, engines punch above their Dyno numbers. 1-2 shift is the same challenge for me, power really drops if not perfect shift at correct RPM. A light flywheel will cause RPM to fall off fast and rev fast. That's part of the charm in an air cooled Porsche, very rewarding when you get it right.
Should ditch the dizzy set up and go with electronic coils and a modern ECU.
That will be a cool comparison video and youll be able to fine tune the timing to compliment the cams
Agreed
He wouldn’t be giving anything up other than old expired technology.
Thats what j oks did on his 964 he made 235 same kind of dyno stock cam full stock exhaust
He said he wants to
He could Put a fueltech
235hp and absolutely beautiful car man. One of my most favorite of your fleet.
Crazy how some people have been conditioned to think that "oh 200 hp SLOW" It really is not, don't get me wrong its not "fast" but there is soo much more to a car than straight line acceleration.
@@user-wm3fc1sk1p This. My dad got a new Mazda CX-30 that makes 250hp and I thought that it'd just feel like a sluggish V6 comfort SUV but boy was I wrong. It ain't fast but it sure hits hard enough to have fun.
@@user-wm3fc1sk1p You're so right my Volvo has 300 HP and that thing is scary quick
Such a beautiful build
The man 👏 the legend 👏
Hey Stevie! 😂
Manual swap and RS interior is a massive upgrade in these cars.
just finished a full forged build on my rb20, going through a similar bout of pleasant shock and awe. Love the videos.
Congrats bro.
You cannot be mad at that exhaust honestly sounds visceral which is sick for this car
Yeah I think it sounds pretty damn good, and there's still stock exhaust manifolds on the car, I'd personally go with a full Fabspeed RSR setup, headers back to their sports muffler, no cats, no primary
Stock these will produce 215hp and 209lb-ft of torque at the wheel, a full exhaust (headers back) will get you about 236hp and 225tq.....so you're doing great, you still have the stock exhaust manifolds on, and the car hasn't been tuned yet for the cams, and like usual, cams alone will move the power around, but you'll probably need more fueling to take advantage of the cams(edit: and adjust timing) and bump up that rev limiter to what the RSR runs at.
I totally agree
Maybe modernize the ecu/ distributor setup if you want to squeeze all the NA power.

Time to upgrade that old ignition/ecu setup so you can really tune it for the cams and maybe bigger carb jets so you could eek out that 300hp along with your new exhaust. Absolutely love that color, and how Adam color matched certain parts. Definitely a "keeper"!
Carb jets ? This does not have carbs..

You're well in excess of £1 million for a Singer Porsche, at least that's what a friends figure was around, crazy thing is they're so stunning but to any normal folk even car guys and girls you could barely tell what it is and you'd just think it's standard haha
6:44 LZ needs to do a window sticker like this.
RS buckets with mint inserts 😮💨
Mint plaid
@@Axial32just white and black Pepita, it would set off the interior nicely and go well with the mint exterior 👌
@johnnygeorgopoulos4072 Houndstooth inserts would look good also.
hands down my favorite car in the collection now. mid 200ish hp that has all the looks and sounds. looking forward to the new exhaust setup though. bet she's a dream to drive.
You can tell by the way the engine sounds it's getting ready to party right before limiter steps in and ruins the fun. Can't wait to hear this thing with the proper RPM limit and a nice titanium exhaust.
Sounds like it should have 2-2500 rpm more for sure
This is my favorite build series on RUclips
you need good old chip tune for those cams.
I absolutely love this build. One of my favorites that yall have done. I would shoot for about 300 whp. Anything more than that would be too rowdy for a chill car that weighs nothing. 300 whp makes for a super fun daily car that won't want to break all the time.
I have driven one with 650😊 crazy feeling 😅 it’s a video of it on MrJ666c channel. Sideways up a dirt road
That 220hp figure u mentioned as stock was probably at the crank. Meaning 180 or so at the wheels. 220 at the wheels with the cam.
This build has quickly become a dream car / build of mine. I wish nothing but the best for you and can’t wait to see the rest of whatever you do to it!!
Beautiful Adam👌🏼🥰 (Upgrade ECU, a Tune + your motoSound airbox & exhaust)
Hey Adam, 1st fit the actual exhaust that you'll be running. 2nd cam timing might be a bit off too. 3rd I've gotten 350Whp out of a 964N/A by just making sure everything is perfect before a dyno pull. Biggest improvement is the correct exhaust flow, and non-restrictive air flow to the intake! Best of luck bro.
Good thing is, that horsepower doesn‘t matter with Porsche. They are always low and still faster then other cars.
Maybe when you change the exhaust it also adds up a little
Hey Adam. On the dino You need to cool the engine with the air blowers down on the engine, with the "trunk" open. Thats pump up the numbers.
🤟 From Denmark
My father has his own shop restoring and specialising in porsche. I have now worked for him and on these cars for 13 years. A mint 964 has been my dream car since seeing my first one in the first month working for my father.
Saw that thing at Amelia this past weekend, what a build. Looks great!!!
For $200k that thing would have been gone in a heartbeat
If dude had 200k for that clunker then dude has 300k for that clunker.
Also Adam is at minimum a multi millionaire… 200k don’t move the needle for him like a regular person
Handed him keys instantly. Don't see the big draw to these cars.
Try to find one for that in the same condition you just can't.
This is why you dont have It to begin with, Brandon
If that guy offered 200k. Maybe it’s time for LZMFG singer/ruf type Porsche in the wild.
sorry go be a heartbreaker but he offered 200k because its Mint and its now a manual, not because its an LZ Special.
What he said ^ has nothing to do with Adam. A mint green air-cooled car will bring the bag till the end of time by itself
Honestly the way he reacts to that mow powaa baby 😄😄😄
Dude🎉CONGRATULATIONS!! That's a DOPE, well put together Porsche!!

You have the best car collection that I know anyone person has.
Absolutely loving this series. Looking forward to your audio setup. A beautiful car like that deserves McIntosh, Audio Frog, Audison and the like 🤙💫
Check your DME chip. I tested my 964 with a Japanese version DME chip and a Steve Wong chip. I gained 20hp
As a guy that works on his own cars, I can confirm…
Is car guys don’t use rulers, we use extensions and whatever else that is straight in our tool boxes👌🏽
249 with the cams ! Enjoy brother we love you
Welcome to the world of classic cars. The driving experience in them is so much more visceral, even with relatively low power. Id look into your dizzy/ignition timing, it might not advance as it should. Not sure how the twinspark setup is controlled but that might be a something to look at as well. Or fast track on Jimmy's path; it'll give you a lot more controllability and it takes those ignition variables out of the equation.
I love how Adam builds a entire car in a single 15 minute video. Always find it funny how a 6month project on a normal channel is just a 3 video affair on the LZ channel.
This car just looks like so much fun. I would actually like to put a really nice polished exhaust on it and ditch the rear bumper, it looks badass with the exposed exhaust.
With Adam’s budget it would be hard not to go full Singer on this build. Most enjoyable content in a long long time I’m sad the views don’t reflect that.
You forgot to wire up the reverse light switch
And hey, your 911 making as much power as my 03 RSX is a good start ;3
14:59 dude is just casually sitting on his seatbelt so it looks like hes buckled up 😂😂😂
that exhaust killed all the good sounds that thing was making lol
You can fit a short shifter kit and the chip in the ecu under the seat has to be changed for the RS one and open noisey back box's seems to slow the car down it should be a easy 280bhp
I’m so stoked I got my merch from LZMFG and drift hq today 👌🏻
This Porsche has become one of my favorite cars in your fleet!
Porsche content is the best content
I live about 15 minutes from Amelia, I decided to cruise around down by the golf club and beach last weekend and I saw his car chilling at the airbnb he posted and I knew it was his right away that thing stands out it was awesome!
Thank you Michael for the explosions on the sky vibes
I honestly just thought of a really badass interior theme for a german car in a pastel color... but I'll hold on to it for a while. I can't believe it hasn't been really done before as a complete theme. Thx Adam!
Great now my Brain will be thinking what theme your thinking for the next 3 months😂
Great now my Brain will be thinking what theme your thinking for the next 3 months😂
The rpm drop is from the light weight flywheel. A little extra weight will help it stay in higher rpm in between shifts
My favorite build of yours so far!❤
Here is a small piece of advice relating to the long block. This is something I performed with all the VW and 4 cylinder Porsche engines I built.
Once you reach your break-in" period for the engine. I perform a "check and retorque" to all the fasteners located on the engine.
btw- I would "drive them like I stole them after the engine parts burnished in.
You will find varying opinions on this subject.
it's like this. You don't have any issues with "free revving" your engine. Why break them in "completely" if you are going to do that.
Believe this. Back in my day as a sprouting gear head. The Old timers bragged that their engines "NEVER" realized any free-revving on purpose.
I’ve never clicked a video so fast. I’m living for this series. 🥲
Maybe an ECU chip addition will squeeze any remaining HP out of your set up ..
I am just know installing 3.8 RSR pistons and Jugs ( higher comp ratio ) SS cam set in my
‘91 C4 5 spd , mid weight flywheel .
I think 235 at the wheels is pretty good it must be at least 250 at the flywheel .
I’m doing a dual exhaust (Fabspeed) set up as well contemplating if a six speed 2 WD
conversion is in my future I know it will lighten up the front of the car and the entire drive train feel as well .
One last thing while I complement you on a sweet build I would have been so tempted to accept the $200 k haha ..Regards Bert
That thing is my favorite car by a very huge margine. It sounds so damn good. That outside view shot when you first drove it, chefs kiss on how good it sounds
Lovin' this build! The color is just damn right!
Dardan has tuned a handful of 964’s on a mainline dyno, i would suggest getting some itb’s to get more airflow for those cams Adam 💪
The 964 is probably one of my favorite Porshe. I would retune it to have more torque. Nice build man.
That air fuel issue is an easy fix. Because your engine/air intake is placed in the rear, you need to re-direct the air flow directly into the rear of the vehicle. Right through the top vent to increase the air flow to the intake 😎🤙
Remember to get some fire suppression system in it. They can catch fire more easily and the car cannot be replaced!
Be sure to PPF that thing brother, especially all of that dry ice work! Good stuff!
So excited to see this thing moving! Love this build and car. Keep it up brother!
old porch makes new porch color look good
i'm dying to see you and jimmy cruise together
For shorter gears you may need a shorter final but id say rpm is your friend with that setup so just let it run out in each gear before shifting it will be cool and will have the long legs for cross country cruising
That car is a beautiful thing, what an amazing thing to own. Definitely a keeper, pure Porsche thanks so much for showing it. Though brave choice of colour !
i do that airbox mod on the cold side of all my cars, made a huge difference to e46 330ci and a lovely howl too
LZ with the gangsta lean in the Porsche
You can tell by the sound of the motor and power curve it’s begging for another 500-1000rpm. That would help bring the revs up more into the power band when shifting into 2nd
That thing sounds like a beast with that exhaust 😂
In regard to power being down. I definitely feel like the bunk current exhaust is not helping the cause id like to think that the final setup will raise the power quite a bit
Adam your car is in the pictures at Amelia Island on the Porsche Club web site. looks good.
polishing those brake lights would make a huge difference. no need to wet sand it's a common mistake that people make when they have yellowing from oxidation on headlights - with detailing you should approach the issue with the least aggressive method first and step it up according to the test spot results. a lot of the time companies will sell people headlight restoration kits that use wet sanding and a ceramic coat - not the way to go, if you're going to the effort of wet sanding you might as well cut and polish - results are always noticeably better with more clarity and a finish that isn't dependent on how long the ceramic coating lasts. - but it's advisable to coat and UV protect headlights afterwards as polishing is going to remove the oxidation barrier formed on the surface meaning that it's just going to oxidise again over time.
You forgot to ground the oxygen sensor directly to the ecm computer ground wire . If you leave the oxygen sensor grounded to the exaust you'll hate your vehicule . You'll likely need to clean install firmware software
Put a fan at the intake. You'll see more. The small fans you're using isn't giving enough airflow. Put it in a wind tunnel and you can really dial it in.
Saw it at Amelia Island! Really love what you did. I had the white 944S2 over in the Radwood section.
I have some film photos I need to develop from that weekend.
At 230rwhp it's about what I'd expected for a 3.6 with cams. As others have mentioned, a chip will help and can also cure stalling due to the light weight flywheel. You're going to need 3.8 pistons and cylinders to get closer to 270hp and then throw in a GT3 crank to squeen more out of it. Enjoy.
Don't feel bad about 200hp 💚
It's plenty when the speed limit is 100ks
The next 911/964 project after the exhaust should be the Porsche ignition system. I would expect to see a jump in horsepower with the right ignition upgrades. I saw a consistent 2/10 et reduction at the dragstrip driving a *stock 69 AMX / 390 cubic inch V8 (*.500 inch Crane hydraulic camshaft) . The ignition upgrade also reduced the crank to start times. It would fire instantly.
Air cooled Porsche's just feel special don't they? My one and only time/experience with one was with a 993 Carrera RS, owned by my friend's uncle, way back in 2003. Setup for tarmac rally, it had that 'fizz' about it.
When do we get some Porsche merch? Jimmy killed on his, so pressure is on😈
This was a great episode with the dyno session.
Obvsly very cool build! I am not a fan of the pale cheap looking rubber boot sticking out of the swine11 shifter, that's why I could resist getting one til now. I am in process of selling mine but it's a really tough decision I don't really want to make. Also: idk if you pulled 3rd full throttle, but that's the most satisfying thing on a 964: how the sound changes from 1st all up to 4th (after that it doesn't have a lot of breath left).
I love the tactile sound of these older Porsche door latches 😍
Congrats! The car sounds amazing!
You got to go with a helix dsp amp and focal speakers for the sound system.
18:50 Drilling holes in the airbox is a common mod on old Tuned B5 S4s, called the Darwin mod.
Normal Porsche/Sports car stuff. 1st and 2nd are quite tall, then the remaining ratios are quite tihgt until 6th. It's a closer ratio in the gears that matter on track
That color is everything!
964’s are one of the best looking sports cars of all time IMO
Adam, i dont think you can tune a Porche without cold air going through the engine in the back. This also might be the reason why it gets so rich on fuel. Because it need morr airflow on the airfilter
If you want to stay NA then you need to optimize that exhaust layout. You need to get it on the dyno to know how much hp you're making. Then do the math on the flow for that engine displacement making that HP. Use that to determine what size exhaust you need. Probably 2.5" is my guess. Headers, catless, xpipe.
200k for that? I still dont know enough on older Porsche models as theres some really unique ones that are really rare and valuable even though they dont look much different or sometimes worse to other models that are significantly cheaper. But is a narrowbody carrera 2 really worth anywhere near that? Is it just because of a rare color or something? Theres no way you couldnt just even buy a similar one and paint and come out far cheaper.
Maybe some Porsche expert can enlighten me? Maybe this is also just some USA thing? Here in Germany I dont think youd see any "regular" 964 that expensive. If it was a carrera Rs Id get it but what drives the price up on this one?
The value is in the sourcing, the lack of a good air cooled mechanic where most people live, the condition of the body, the work already done, there’s a crazy dollar amount of parts here, before all of the painting, powder coating and crazy hardware. All of that; and I’m sure tons more, compounded with the color…and it’s also one of those things that demands the money because of what went into it, probably more than it’s worth the money.
It's because it's an original mint green car with a clean carfax. Originality for these aircooled 911s is everything. I own a '91 Carerra 4, but I had mine rwb'd this past july
It would be sick to throw a little turbo in it! But this and the chaser are my favorite cars you have
Got to see this thing in person, at Amelia Island. Beautiful car
