Saved my bacon in 2022. I'm quite a seasoned ebiker (built my own battery etc) but my mate asked me to to fix his battery and update his controller. Job sorted but none of the wires were plug and play. Anyway.. It all worked fine and dandy but couldn't get the lights / horn working. So instead of "bodge twisting" the wires together after I sussed part of the lights issue (got the rear & brake light working) I decided to take the controller off and solder it on my workbench. You know what's coming next don't you !! Yup, after connecting it all up it made a heck of a growl and then just span as per your description. The blue & green are pretty faded so I might have mixed them up and the controller lost memory. Watched you vid and tried it. It worked as single speed but noisy so I reconnected again the correct way and put it into learning mode. Success Was beginning to think I was going to have to buy him an new ebike !! (Trail - G) Anyway.. Thanks. Anyone got any tips on how to make the poxy horn & front light work ? ruclips.net/video/jLWOC16KjmY/видео.html
Thanks guy! I had the same problem and first thought it was something major. Found your video, then after some trial-and-error, I was able to connect the motor wires correctly to get the wheel turning. You likely saved me many hours and a lot of frustration. I owe you a beer!
I know this post is old but helped me figure out my issue. The color combination you have in this video helped me out. It was fine till I took my motor off to change the clutch and then , I hear it run but the wheel did not spin. So thanks I don't know if you will see but, I appreciate it. 😊
Well thx for the video it helped a lot after a full day of trying out all the other potential issues. You combination did not work for me , but another one did. My yellow, blue ,green was mirrored in the opposing direction, green blue yellow. The comment of the motor running but the wheel not turning had me perplexed. My issue was the wheel was not turning but was locked solid ,vibrating loudly and could not be turned by hand , the coils must have been triggered out of sequence and were fighting one another. I had something similar happen to a washing machine once when a positional sensor went bad. Its like it was having a seizure.
Many thanks. This was indeed helpful, as I had exactly the same problem after buying a new controller. (In my case, yellow to yellow was correct, but the blue and green needed to be swapped over.) This tip certainly saved me a load of time, as I was just about to strip down the motor in search of some kind of centrifugal clutch! 😅
Thanks for explanation it helped a lot...but later I learned that if you connect those two white wires(short them), it will adjust the phase angle by itself, if possible make another video explaining the same.
Heaving Dane problem ..thank you much for taking time to make your helpful video it was very helpful I got my feature hey bike going again thanks to you

It must be my English but how can the motor be SPINNING and the wheel no TURNING? This is a hub motor inside the wheel so either both are turning (spinning?) or both not.
That's what I would have thought? But if you don't have the wires hooked up correctly the motor makes a spinning sound without the wheel moving. I wish I would have recorded it before I fixed the problem.
It is likely because it is a geared motor and is prevented from turning the bike wheel in reverse while running. Watch this guy's very detailed video on bike controller installation: ruclips.net/video/PuwnFMHHtaE/видео.html
It worked for me when I tried swapping wires they worked with multiple combination, but I am having new problem now, the bike doesn't accelerate as it was, when I ride it and accelerate it will stall couple of times before moving off, any help ?
You are a life saver, man! My e-bike went backwards after the controller change. Changed everything to match the colors.... still backwards... Then did what you did and now it's good! HOWEVER it's much weaker than wen it went backwards. Any idea on that?
On that new controller? What is the name of those connectors and maybe please do you have a link to share where I can get them ? I cannot find them ? Please I need then to connect mine ?

@@rlachermeier it's the 2 single green wires each with a plug. To change direction, join them together and then power it up. Each time the unit up powered up with the wires connected it changes the motor direction. When the motor direction is correct, you disconnect them.

It just a process of connecting then un connecting... That's what's does green wires do.
Your mistake is assuming the motor was actually spinning. It's not spinning lol, just making the noise caused by PWM Another issue you can get by hooking up the phase wires the wrong way is the motor spinning backwards.
@@rlachermeier i purchased a new hub motor affter making all connections motor spinning but weel not Then i thought motor is defective 😂😂 After watching your video it's worked perfectly 😀👍 Thank you agin
Changing the phase wires works i guess but it is the incorrect solution to the problem, those brain power controllers need to be trained to work correctly and to do that you connect that single green wire together and then power up the bike this will make the controller enter training mode where it attempts to spin the motor in so doing learn the motor so that it runs optimally, sometimes however they come set for direct drive hubs which spin the oposit way to the motor in a geared hub and so the motor spins the wrong way and does not spin the wheel, the correct way to fix this is to pull the throttle during the training phase and this tells the controller to switch the direction
Having the same problem. Planetary gears were stripped in motor, replaced for new thought that would fix it but now the horrible crunchy noise is replaced with the whirring of the motor and no wheel movement. Going to have a go at this fix 🤞
