“If your email been hijacked by fraudster auto deposit just makes it easier for thieves to pull off a cyber heist” so does losing your credit card Karen
one tip for good security if you need to use a "security question" simply select one and answer soothing else. ie "what was your first pet?" how about answering "How many pets have you had?" something similar, but not too differen t then the questions as you may forget your "modified question" those text fields are plain text. so anything goes.
Please, can someone in Canada send money to someone in another country, using e-transfer? And also, does the receiver need to have e-transfer account/profile before he can cash out the money?
Interac e-mail money transfer is ONLY for banks IN Canada and ONLY in CA$. Both sender AND receiver have to have accounts with banks that support Interac e-mail money transfer BUT receiver does not have to be set up BEFORE the transfer is sent. It can be set up as part of the process to receive the first transfer. Instructions are in the receiver's email message.
I wouldn't bank e-transfer funds to anyone but a trusted business entity that I do business with on a monthly basis (such as paying off credit/gas cards monthly, auto loan monthly, etc.) or a personal friend (which I do via PayPal from my home PC). Everything else I charge to credit cards for the cash back rewards & then pay it all off before every monthly billing cycle. I also wouldn't use a smartphone to conduct any business/financial transactions.
how does auto deposit make you vulnerable to a cyber heist? Lol the money would be deposited into your bank account directly and interac would send you a verification of funds deposited notification to your email.
@@an0maly5k27 It happens. But if one has a head no only for eating into it but think also... it will be way less chances to get oneself into a troubles unintentionally :)
@@exlg3363 auto deposit was how my bank account got blocked and now banned from using interac for 6 months I received an etransfer which was marked as fraud by the bank.
@@BL-eo8ww With Autodeposit...the risk is NOT losing money in the transfer but rather having the original funds reversed and like in your case your account potentially frozen by the bank. So NEVER accpet to use Interac from a source you do not trust as they could fraudulently be using a hacked account.
@@musicmayer2043 bank was frozen but funds were not reversed (knock on wood), i filed a complaint and now everything is good but they said if it happens again, I would be banned from interac

I cannot believe that e-Transfers are more secure here in Colombia than in Canada lol

An extra step or two. I don't mind. Hopefully by doing this, my chances of being hacked are reduced. 🤞

I am an software engineer and I am saying it is not safe. Just check number of phishing attacks in North America and How much money they stole.
Cash is the only secure way
What if it is counterfeit? Victims are never covered at least etransfers you still can try. Paypal is the best option.

Use auto deposit. No passwords needed.
@@an0maly5k27 create a proper password for your email of 25 symbols or more. Not pass123 :)
