The dress was always such a stupid illusion. It's a bad overexposed photo, it doesn't matter what color the actual dress is. The image looks brown and very light blue, and that's exactly what examing it in an image editor proves.
@@brandogg Speak for your self! I only managed to see the dress as white and gold while other people saw apparently blue and black or white. So it was a perfect illusion.
@@brandogg so using a laptop, I can see all 3 varieties. I always saw the photo as you do. brown and light blue. When I tilt my laptop screen BACK, it can be seen as black and dark blue. Im curious what other people see if they tilt their screen if they only see the blue and black or white and gold versions.
The fake ones are definitely more of a magenta/pink. Also, under the filter they look completely gray to me. Maybe people who see the fake ones as more red can see the illusion of red too.

As an artist it always boggles my mind how sometimes when you make the background color Grey but in the cooler side in the palette obviously you would choose a cool toned drawing especially for skin and when the background was more on the warmer tone you would choose a warm palette but when you post it in social media you then realize that alot of people see the colors differently just like how some would see it in a screen with customized lighting with its own shade of color sometimes people have it in warm tone or cool tone or night vision and the color of your drawing differs so much :// idk if it's just me or something
In reality, the pixels in the image are mostly shades of cyan and gray, which is what I saw originally, but when I try to look at it with more context, knowing that It was pink and white before, then I can start to see why people say that. For the dress though, I see exactly what they described, a kind of dark-gold stripe or as they described it, brown, with blue stripes too.

@@Blu97 I see how you could have seen my always as reffering to always colorblind people somehow, but if you understand grammar thats reffering to how often monochromatic colorblind people see strawberries as grey
We painters fight against this all the time. It's part of the "paint what you see, not what you think you see". At one point we learn that a color is always relative to the other colors around it. I still see red, but logically I know it's just a warmer shade of gray than the other grays around it. Cool stuff!
*Me* : (painting a human and start to add purple as the skin color) *My friend* : wait, wtf are u doing?! that looks weird! *Me* : (ーー;) .... (continue to draw a night sky as a background) *My friend* : Oh... now this makes sense.
6:18 slow it down, you can see where your brain switches over to seeing the squares the same hue. It's also apparent that it is the square of a differing shades of grey on the opposing corners of each cube are affecting our perception of the subject squares' shades of grey. One with paler grey contrasts to make its' opposite more rosy; and conversely, the other cube, the more rosy opposing square makes the subject square seem relatively pale grey. *It had nothing to do with the illuminant.*
Did it like 20 times, at 0.25 speed, it's hilarious to hear him And yes, it's really impressive, it's almost as if they edited the color on the video !
but well those different shades of gray make it seem like the entire cube is in a different lighting because your brain thinks that the reason WHY those gray parts are different shades is BECAUSE of the different lighting! Your brain interprets the different shades of gray as the SAME shade of gray under DIFFERENT lighting. The color of the background reinforces this illusion. That's exactly what they've been explaining. Color perception is contextual.
It's actually red, just tone closer to grey. Try this. Open snipping tool, snip the picture in this video, go to photoshop, paste it there and then click image, auto tone. It will become red.

@@brandogg what?? Are you trolling us?lol
It looks black and royal blue. Very clearly. 😳
@@brandogg let me tell you, I saw it black and blue, and 5 second later white and gold. So I DEFENITELY know how different it is
@@brandogg so using a laptop, I can see all 3 varieties. I always saw the photo as you do. brown and light blue. When I tilt my laptop screen BACK, it can be seen as black and dark blue. And when I tilt the computer screen down as if Im closing it, it looks more white and goldish. But looking straight on at that picture anywhere on the internet, looks brown and light blue. Im curious what other people see if they tilt their screen if they only see the blue and black or white and gold versions.
Is it just me or does the “red” look pink
Its just you
No, it looked pink to me as well.
Sometimes
The “strawberries” that he made? I think they meant to say pink instead of red because those are most definitely pink

That shoe is been grey and teal to me since the debate came out but I clicked the link and now I cannot see anything but pink and white
That's because we actually saw the real color of the shoe. Strawberries all over again~
It’s literally pink and white and it always has been

Colorblind people: *Allow me to introduce myself*
TheTrueTerrydactyl what color do they see them
@@DORADO1999 well they always see strawberrys as grey so the brain isnused to seeing grey and the color constancy wont affect them
Renni Most colorblind people don’t see in grayscale and aren’t monochromatic.
@@Blu97 but some do. I never implied that they all did
@@Blu97 I see how you could have seen my always as reffering to always colorblind people somehow, but if you understand grammar thats reffering to how often monochromatic colorblind people see strawberries as grey
We painters fight against this all the time. It's part of the "paint what you see, not what you think you see". At one point we learn that a color is always relative to the other colors around it. I still see red, but logically I know it's just a warmer shade of gray than the other grays around it. Cool stuff!

Did it like 20 times, at 0.25 speed, it's hilarious to hear him
And yes, it's really impressive, it's almost as if they edited the color on the video !
but well those different shades of gray make it seem like the entire cube is in a different lighting because your brain thinks that the reason WHY those gray parts are different shades is BECAUSE of the different lighting! Your brain interprets the different shades of gray as the SAME shade of gray under DIFFERENT lighting. The color of the background reinforces this illusion. That's exactly what they've been explaining. Color perception is contextual.
The left cube never changed colour, but it was the cube that stayed in place. How?

I am not sure what amazes me more, the illusion itself, or the way these guys explain this sooo clearly.
It's actually red, just tone closer to grey. Try this. Open snipping tool, snip the picture in this video, go to photoshop, paste it there and then click image, auto tone. It will become red.
Coouge when he places the blue-green filter over the camera lens at 3:30, the strawberries in the photograph look black. They are definitely red.
@@rainbownebula102 The Photoshop 'eyedropper tool' reveals all the 'red-looking' parts of the strawberries to quite close to be RGB 140:140:140. That's neutral grey.

7:55 OMG SOMEONE ELSE FINALLY SAID IT. I’ve postulates this theory to so many of my friends and family and they have no idea what I’m talking about and don’t understand what I’m trying to say.
