I actually have a fun memory of this exhibit. My mother and I went on a trip to the Bronx zoo, I noticed that one of the cockroaches escaped its enclosure. In order to save its life, I blocked the cockroach’s path with my shoe and I informed other zoo goers about the escaped animal while my mother (who actually hates bugs like cockroaches) got one of the zookeepers and he put the roach back where it belonged. I performed a good deed that day.
This was another one of my favorite exhibits at the Bronx Zoo, and it is probably the only exhibit I know of in any zoo that actually focuses on Madagascar! From the amazing exhibit designs to its rare and one if a kind animals, this place really lives up to "You can't judge a book by its cover". It's a hidden gem all to itself, just like the real Madagascar.
in the zoo of frankfurt (germany) there is also a whole exhibit dedicated to madagaskar (lemurs only ofc). unfortunately it's very old and looks like a swimming area hence to all the tiles.
Nashville Zoo is the other one in the United States that has Ring-tailed Vontsira, though the individual isn't on exhibit. It was possibly on exhibit though via the Veterinarian Center last year for a brief time.
@otterlord5906 good to know. I was basing my information on a social media post from last year they described a singular individual. Nashville has a few rarities bts that they breed!
Last week we visited the Bronx zoo on a very quiet day. We had the whole Madagascar exhibit to ourselves. Was amazing, especially the fossa asleep right by the glass window
I would get of Adventure Cove at the Columbus Zoo and replace it with Houston Zoo South American Pantanal because I just realized there’s no South American exhibit there and that’s one of the best ones. Overall fantastic tour Zach and this definitely gets me excited to visit the Bronx Zoo sometime in the future. Also just want to ask if the mouse house is your favorite area of the Bronx Zoo or is it another area?
I must say you are doing a fabulous job covering zoos across USA. I have a suggestion. If you happen to visit Singapore , please do a virtual tour of Singapore night safari .
I've actually been lucky enough to see a ring-tailed vontsira since one of my local zoos, Hemsley Conservation Centre has one and is the only place in the UK to have them.
in the berlin zoo (germany) at the carnivore exhibit they have a big breeding group of the ringtailed mongoose and also the narrow-striped mongoose which is endemic to madagascar as well!
Beautiful video. There is a small Madagascar exhibit at the Catoctin Zoo in Frederick, Maryland and they have 3 beautiful Fossas that are always active and on exhibit.
1:11 i'd bulldoze the Lost Valley from Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and replace it with Africa from Australia Zoo. Not to say that Lost Valley is a bad bit of the zoo but Africa is just better
I've been looking forward to this! One question though, was the Malagasy leaf nosed snake on display? I saw one in your footage but it is not listed in your species list.
Philly native here--the small mammal house closed years ago. Currently the building holds Spiders Alive!, an arachnid house which is meant to be temporary, but future plans are uncertain.
Oh, there are so many red ruffed lemurs in this one troupe in the zoo. the dominant female👸🏿, 3 adult males🧑🏿🎤🧑🏿🎤🧑🏿🎤, 3 yearlings siblings🧍🏿👫🏿 and 2 young sisters👩🏿❤️👩🏿.
If you’re going to talk about the Bronx Zoo, you’re far from done because there are still plenty of areas to explore there such as World of Birds, Aquatic Bird House, Children’s Zoo, Africa, and Gelada Reserve
Just saying but if you go to back to the Omaha zoo you should do the Madagascar exhibit and I am saying that you should do that exhibit because I remember it and I really enjoyed it and they have Madagascar animals that the Bronx both has and don’t have and species that they don’t have that Omaha has are the Mongoose lemur, Collared and common brown lemurs, Malagasy giant rat and the Aye Aye which is the world’s largest nocturnal primate and what I meant by species that Omaha has that the Bronx has are the ring tailed lemur, The Red and Black and white ruffed lemurs, Fossa and radiated tortoise and what I like about the exhibit is that they give their fossa outdoor space.
I would bulldoze the Primate, Cat and Aquatics building at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and replace it with the Toledo Zoo Aquarium. The primates can be moved to the upcoming Primate Forest.
🎶🎵I like to move it, move it!🎶🎵I like to move it, move it!🎶🎵You like to move it!🎶🎵 Visit the New York Aquarium soon, Zak! Plus, I would bulldoze the San Francisco Zoo's old Hoofed Animals exhibit & replace it with the San Diego Zoo's Elephant Odyssey exhibit! And also, here are 5 zoo trivia questions for you & your girlfriend... 1) Which 2nd gorilla at the Jacksonville Zoo died from a bacterial illness this month? 2) What date did the Oakland Zoo's male African Elephant, Osh, left for the Tennessee Elephant Sanctuary? 3) What year did the San Diego Zoo welcomed Sophia the Miniature Mediterranean Donkey before Zari the Grant's Zebra came? 4) How many years ago did the Bronx Zoo originally housed a moose? 5) How many snowy egrets would you predict that the Lincoln Park Zoo had housed so far? Leaping Masiakasaurus!
Not really an exhibit, but they replaced the pond at the fort wayne children's zoo in the African adventure, for a kids obstacle course. I'd love for them to bulldoze that and replace it with any small animal, like guinea fowl or upgrade some of their animals habitats. Such as moving the porcupines that are in a way too small enclosure

You’re a sensitive human being . Good to know . 😊

2:41 I may have screamed out loud ZOOBOOMAFOO
I am so glad it's not just me!
I think a lot did. Me, and you, and Zoboomafoo.
Yes! Childhood unlocked. Every single time I go to the Bronx Zoo and visit Madagascar, that theme song plays in my head as soon as I see the Sifakas.
Honestly, the best of its kind anywhere.
Nashville Zoo is the other one in the United States that has Ring-tailed Vontsira, though the individual isn't on exhibit. It was possibly on exhibit though via the Veterinarian Center last year for a brief time.
They actually have multiple pairs of Vontsira and breed them regularly.
@otterlord5906 good to know. I was basing my information on a social media post from last year they described a singular individual. Nashville has a few rarities bts that they breed!
I believe Nashville Zoo is the other US zoo to have Ring-Tailed Vontsira but like all of their cool and rare small mammal species they are kept BTS
I would get rid of the Children’s Zoo at Zoo Atlanta. And then replace it with Zoo Miami’s Amazon & Beyond.
Great tour as always, Zach.
The exhibit that was the top of my list of exhibits to see at the Bronx Zoo and nice tour. And I like the thumbnail, too. 🙂👍
It's really impressive what they were able to do with an existing building.
This is awesome video and can't see what next zoo tour!
Last week we visited the Bronx zoo on a very quiet day. We had the whole Madagascar exhibit to ourselves. Was amazing, especially the fossa asleep right by the glass window

I’ve always been upfront about being an Omaha Zoo fanboy, but even I can’t deny that this blows expedition madagascar out of the water.
I must say you are doing a fabulous job covering zoos across USA.
I have a suggestion. If you happen to visit Singapore , please do a virtual tour of Singapore night safari .
I would get rid of the Kalahari Kingdom at Franklin Park Zoo and replace it with St. Louis's Red Rocks! Great video! Hoping to go next month!
I went to the Madagascar in the bronx zoo I love the Nile crocodiles 🐊
I've actually been lucky enough to see a ring-tailed vontsira since one of my local zoos, Hemsley Conservation Centre has one and is the only place in the UK to have them.
This was one of my faverout z exhibits at the bronxe zoo
You need to visit the Toledo zoo again and do a full tour, I believe you’ll be enjoy it
I visited the BRONX ZOO in 2019 during the month of October.
I would get rid of the rare animal conservation center at the Philadelphia zoo and replace it with Smithsonian’s zoo Amazonia exhibit.
The other zoo with ring-tailed mongoose is the Nashville Zoo, which has an absolutely insane small carnivore collection
If I’m not mistaking for Madagascar Carnivores but I believe the Nashville Zoo has a Malagasy Civet or Fanaloka
You should visit snake discovery
in the berlin zoo (germany) at the carnivore exhibit they have a big breeding group of the ringtailed mongoose and also the narrow-striped mongoose which is endemic to madagascar as well!
I would replace my Columbus zoos aquarium with the oceans exhibit from indianpolis or the Pittsburgh zoo’s aquarium
Beautiful video. There is a small Madagascar exhibit at the Catoctin Zoo in Frederick, Maryland and they have 3 beautiful Fossas that are always active and on exhibit.

The Asheborrow zoo. I would replace flamingo exhibit for a tapir exhibit.
Note: There is also a Vasa Parrot located in the Spiny Forest habitat.
nice house, BUT all animals included the Sifakas for example don't have any outdoor enclosure, right?
This may sound INSANE, but I'd bulldoze the Avatar Area at Disney's Animal Kingdom and Replace it with the Houston Zoo's Pantanal.
I would get rid of the small mammal house at the Philadelphia zoo and replace it with animals of the night from the Memphis zoo.
Philly native here--the small mammal house closed years ago. Currently the building holds Spiders Alive!, an arachnid house which is meant to be temporary, but future plans are uncertain.
@@Antimony96 oh okay.
Can you Go to the Cleveland Metroparks zoos African Savannah
Oh, there are so many red ruffed lemurs in this one troupe in the zoo. the dominant female👸🏿, 3 adult males🧑🏿🎤🧑🏿🎤🧑🏿🎤, 3 yearlings siblings🧍🏿👫🏿 and 2 young sisters👩🏿❤️👩🏿.
Those Red Ruffed lemurs I just described were featured in the Animal Planet series "The Zoo".
it's the mouse house
If you’re going to talk about the Bronx Zoo, you’re far from done because there are still plenty of areas to explore there such as World of Birds, Aquatic Bird House, Children’s Zoo, Africa, and Gelada Reserve
I would get rid of elephant kingdom at Colchester zoo and replace it with elephant odyssey at San Diego

4:22 do you know the name of that now extinct species of malygasy crocodile?
It is called Voay robustus or the horned crocodile.
@@jarodheuer4171 oh just curious.
I would bulldoze the Primate, Cat and Aquatics building at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and replace it with the Toledo Zoo Aquarium. The primates can be moved to the upcoming Primate Forest.
I would replace the rare breeds farm at jimmys farm in Suffolk uk with Chester Zoo’s the islands also in the uk

I would bulldoze the farmyard at the Beardsley Zoo and replace it with the fabric of Africa at the Roger Williams Park Zoo
Have you ever been to a zoo with a very special Lemur, the Aye Aye?
Yep! A few, and I have great footage that I can't wait to show one day.
I would get rid of San Diego zoo safari park base camp and replace it with it with Los Angeles zoo liar or jungles of Americas
Mort!
I would probably bulldoze the bronx zoo”s African area and replace it with Cincinnati Zoos African area
I can smell this guys farts not good
I would get rid of Spiders Alive at the Philadelphia Zoo and replace it with literally anything else because f**k spiders.
9:31 The other zoo is Nashville however, those Vontsiras are behind the scenes.
I really didn’t like this one tbh
