- The second person in the world (after Adam Klink two weeks previously) to Squat 500lb and run a sub 5 minute mile in the same day, and I thought I would throw in an endurance element for good measure... And to really test myself across the board.
A brutal day, but very proud of achieving this goal for myself!

I would’ve stopped after the first 400 and yelled at my pacer for a dumb split but cheers to you for hanging in. If you paced yourself correctly, could easily hit 4:50 maybe dip under more.
As someone who does both powerlifting and marathon training, I LOVE this video! Nice job!
Lexes O'Hara great to hear! Thank you 🙌🏼
I can't believe you survived after going out in 64 seconds on that mile. Respect for hanging on!
Haha me neither! Thank you man 🙌🏼
I was a track guy so I definitely feel your pain. Those last 100 meters feel like the world is coming to an end!
I could see a different dimension... 🥵
Your whole channel is legendary... I aspire to be closer to you in the future!
Mate well done, this is absolutely phenomenal 👍🏼
Thanks Chris🤙🏼
Amazing! Appreciate you taking us along on the journey!
Thanks man, appreciate it 🤘🏼
Congrats dude! What an accomplishment 👏🏼
Thanks man!
I remember that feeling after finishing the mile in college. Impressive for someone with out a huge background in running. This motivates me to want to get back under 4:27 in the mile again. Good job bro!
Thanks man great to hear! Best of luck getting back down there 🙌🏼
Super impressive! And all the challenges you've done are incredible!
Derek Lakowske thanks Derek! Appreciate it 🙌🏼
Such an incredible achievement! Mental that you decided to chuck in a marathon on top, absolutely bonkers work that!
Haha thanks man, gotta play to my strengths eh
Just found the channel! Awesome videos man! I’m trying to build muscle and train for a marathon so it’s good to see some videos of someone not on gear! Haha respect from the 🇺🇸! Btw duality gets me pumped every workout!
Congratulations, stumbled upon this video and was genuinely blown away. Very entertaining video aswell 👏👏👏👏
Thanks Lawrence appreciate it a lot! 🙌🏼
Epic work mate. Looking forward to your next venture!
Thanks man - 1/11/2020 👀
Inspiring as can be! True mental and physical toughness.
Thank you man, appreciate it!
Fantastic achievement, well done. A true test of strength , fitness and mental grit 💪
Thanks man appreciate it!
Watching from Melbourne Aus. Absolutely insane. Good job.
Thanks man! (8 months later... 😂)
Congratulations. This is such an amazing feat. Well done mate
Thanks man!
Nothing short of amazing!
Awesome video. Impressive athletic achievement. I'd love to see a redemption video on this one. Whenever I've raced so hard that I've puked, it has taken me long to recover. I think with a better pace on the mile, you avoid throwing up, your nervous system won't be in shock and you won't be dehydrated at the start of the 50K and then you'll hit all three goals. Good luck, you've got a new subscriber :)
8 months later... Thank you! Was about 3 weeks to recover from this one!
Wow, this is incredible! Congratulations!
Thank you!
Yes man! Congrats, incredible achievement!
Thank you!
Ayyyy congrats! Now it's officially you and Adam Klink!
Thanks man 👊🏼
Insane performance. With that kind of strength and endurance combo, you must have an absolute killer time on the 2k on the erg rower!
absolutely mad, insane shit. both of these numbers are ridiculous and he just added a marathon for good measure. truly great athlete here
Thanks man! (Most deleted thank you of all time maybe 😂)
The pacer took you out at 64 on the first 400?!!
Curt Rierson he’s my only friend that can run a comfortable sub 5 - he’s a rugby player and has only used a track once before 😂 the brief was 1:13, but to quote him: ‘I got a little excited’ 😬
@@ferguscrawley95 You are my hero! Anyone that can recover from a blazing first lap like that and still come in under 5 is a beast! Congrats!!
Dude you’d run a much better time maybe sub 4:50 if you paced evenly 😭
That pacer might be a friend but he did you no favors by lighting you up the first lap, He basically FAILED to do his job correctly. Lucky he didn't ruin your effort
@@mojito167able 90s per lap is 6min
An extraordinary achievement. Well done
Who could dislike this video? Awesome job! Can't wait to see more challenges.
Thanks man! Appreciate it 🙌🏼
Adam Klink ... ?
@@PeakFitness Lol, no way, Adam Klink isn't afraid to celebrate other people's success.
Very inspiring feat good job on finishing!💪🏼
Thank you! 🤙🏼
Dude the 50k was a great plot twist! Fucking awesome! You're a star
Thanks man! Appreciate it 🤙🏼
Awesome job, I'm 60, currently a365 sq, 325 B, 405 D/L 1Rm, and I'm training for the JFK 50 Miler in Nov. Will be my first Ultra, I met Bill Rogers at a signing in '86 wearing a Golds tank top, he said lifting heavy and running don't usually work, this is true but I love them both.
Awesome man! How did the 50 miler go?
Bravo! What an amazing accomplishment
Shane Concepcion thanks Shane! Appreciate it 🙌🏼
Amazing, man!!Congrats from Brazil!
Thanks man! (8 months later... 😂)
Love that you're balancing strength, speed AND endurance. Congratulations, new sub here!
Thanks man! (8 months later 😂)
@@ferguscrawley95 no worries man 🤣 been working your way through the “comments I haven’t responded to” section?
@@TirnanHealy spot on haha! But ignoring all the middle aged blokes that ‘reckon they could have done this in high school if they tried’ 😂
@@ferguscrawley95 bloody legends haha, probably the same ones who could of been pro athletes if it wasn’t for that injury that took em out 😂
@@TirnanHealy the very same...
Incredible, Congrats man!
Cheers 🙌🏼
Look at those legs!!! BEAST!! I see that dude wearing thrudark too 👀👀
Haha thanks man! Yes Jonny and I know the lads well 🤙🏼

Thanks Alan!
Can’t believe you hung on after a 1:04 split 😅 well done
Me neither 🥵
This is real fitness. Absolute strength and endurance.
Thanks man!
Second time watching the video and it's still an inspiration. How do you train for powerlifting, speed and endurance at the same time?
Well done! Awesome achievement
Thank you 🤙🏼
Incredible. Go SCOTLAND!!!!
Thank you! 🏴
Heck yeah! My goal is to get a 500 lb deadlift and then run a 20 min 5k.. Lots of improvement needed between now and then but its the goal!
Nice one man best of luck!
540 pounds deadlift and 17'51 5k for me but not at the same time of year. Balancing the 2 at the same time is extremely impressive
Video deserves more views
What an effort, good job buddy!
Thanks man appreciate it!
jheez, this is seriously impressive
Thanks man appreciate it!
Super human performance 🙌🏻
Dylan Mauger thanks Dylan 🤙🏼
Brilliant achievement, superhuman 👍
Thanks man - I’m no superhuman! Just work hard at the training I’m given!
Superb stuff mate
Thank you!
Well done! The demands of each event are significant. Appreciate the dedication. Pacer should have slowed it down a bit, but you made it.
I know! Going out at a 1:04 was like they were going to break 4.
That’s what happens when you use a rugby player as a pacer 😂 (he was and still is my only friend that can run a confident sub 5)
My man did it! He effing did it!
👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Good job from Germany!
Thank you!
Wow... Well done sir!!!
Thanks man!
This is just insane. I gotta try atleast one of these feats. Hopefully all 3 one day
Thanks man! Best of luck with all 3!

Holy crap, amazing. Basically an anime character
*goes super Saiyan* thanks man!
Those plates are beautiful.
Also, huge W to the wife for providing the inhaler lol
Congratulation man, such an awesome achievement! However... a personal highlight of the video was the someone carefully placing the inhaler in your hand after the mile 🤣
😂 necessities - thanks man (8 months later...)
Great effort dude 👍🏻
Thanks man!
freaking awesome dude. rip the finish omg
Thanks man! 😂
👏👏👏 amazing!
Thank you!

Special thumbs up for Duality as your hype song!
Always 🤙🏼
Class job lad! Get this sent over to teamrichie!
Thanks man! Lots of people have haha!
DUALITY getting you that extra edge. Class
Always 🙌🏼
Just thinking should try the same thing and add the deadlift aswell
Not sure why this was in my recommended vids, but you're a fucking beast dude.
Thanks man, appreciate it!
Respect for running an entire mile (1608 meters) not just 4 laps.
A common mistake!
congrats from france
Thank you! 🇫🇷
I gasped when you tripped holy shit
Not the strongest finish!
Without wanting to ruin this amazing performance, I have to give you this tip as a runner myself.
The pacer did a horrible job. Before a race you have to calculate your splits per (half)lap. So a sub 5 mile means 75 seconds per 400m. If you then go out in 65 on your starting lap, you will be hurting way more and way earlier then necessary - as you probably might have felt. With that in mind I am actually quit impressed with how you still hung on to get that 4'58.
I believe you can go sub 4'50 if you only focus just a little bit on pacing.
So next time, try to even split as we call it were you go the same pace on every lap and then the last 200m you start increasing your speed until you are kicking (aka flat out sprinting with everything you have) on the last main straight. Amazing performance nonetheless, I'm very much impressed!
We knew all this beforehand my man! The brief was 1:14x3 then send it. He’s a rugby player, so minimal practiced perception of pace - but I chose to use an inexperienced pacer over not having one, and in my mind it doesn’t matter as job done in the end. And I can tell you with confidence, there will not be a next time 😂 (8 months later haha, but thank you!)
Has anyone else got this since, and do you think it's possible to maintain speed and strength at these levels? I'm currently at 405 and 6:15, it seems tough but doable.
I died when he said he had a full day of work the next day. Mans crazy. I’d take at least a day to recover from this
Would not recommend.
Awesome! Just out of interest, what is the vest you are using for the 50k?
Insane
👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Also a fantastic finish to the mile hahahaha
Awful 😂😟🙃
Awesome effort man! Was the pacemaker that TikTok famous guy? He’s so handsome 😜
Pacemaker is a generous term - 64s 400m was not the plan 😬
The fall was epic!!!
Thankfully it was over the line and not earlier haha!
Definitely. Amazing job! Inspiring!
This is quite the damn feat
Thank you 🤙🏼
That is well done -- congratulations! Any idea how many steps you got on the day?
R M thanks man! It was just over 65,000 I believe!
Dude - saw your comment on Nick Bare's video! This is crazy, well done! How tall are you?
F Travis thanks man! I’m 182cm 🤙🏼
Well done!
Thanks man ✌🏼
I messaged Craig Richey about your accomplishment...really hope you get featured. I believe genuine athletes like yourself deserve a much bigger audience on this platform.
Shaun Pieterse thanks man! A lot of people have I’ve been told! Not had any real traction with bigger media outlets thus far, but let’s see what happens. Ultimately I did this as a hybrid test, and not for attention/bragging rights, so any additional exposure I’ll take as a bonus!
@@ferguscrawley95 for sure man. You are an inspiration to all of us that train as hybrid athletes! Good luck and we look forward to seeing what you get up to In the future (movember included)!
Hi Fergus, do you take an inhaler before hard runs (or any runs) and have you any advice on foods to avoid for asthma. Thanks Very much
Hello! Pre exercise and sometimes during - but no foods that I avoid for it no!
