Hi everyone. I just love playing with stripes. I wish I had more of them in my stash to play with. I might have to start stealing some shirts to make myself a nice scrappy quilt with. I hope this video inspires you to dive into your stash and use your striped fabric. And don't forget. The first 1000 people who click the link will get 2 free months of Skillshare Premium: skl.sh/justgetitdonequilts0820

I just love all of your videos! I enjoyed your video on budget tips however I would love to see a video on “worth the splurge” whether it’s fabric, notions, machines, storage, classes, retreats, anything sewing. Sometime cheaper is not better and I would love to see your thoughts on the topic.

I love your videos but it broke my heart that in order to get my free two months I would have to enter all my credit card info. Of course I didn’t do that, but it’s not free if I forget to cancel and I am charged. This is a marketing ploy done by many. I was very sad to see this. I love all of your videos. But didn’t care for this technique being used for membership.

@@annablock8037 I agree. I signed up for Skillshare and discovered there weren't that many classes they offered that I was interested in. I immediately cancelled my free membership so I wouldn't forget later.

Just Get it Done Quilts, loved this video on triangles, as they are a favorite shape for me. You gave me ideas that have never occurred to me before, and I always like that! (Just a side note, “equilateral” is spelled that way, NOT “equAlateral.”)

My favorite thing to do with stripes is to make the binding tape. Either on an angle, or with horizontal lines. It looks especially nice on Christmas quilts because it can look like candy cane.

I am new to quilting and sewing in general I’m only 15 but I’ve already bought a sewing machine a beginner one of course and my grandma shows for a living now she used to do it as a hobby and she’ll let me use all of her fabrics and her quilting machine so all of your videos telling me a different quilt patterns and everything are really helpful so I can learn something new while I’m not allowed to see my grandma as often during quarantine

So happy for you. You now have a hobby to last you for the rest of your life. No matter what Hobbies you take up in your future, sewing will be what you always go back to. I started sewing at age 12 and I’m 78 and I’ve never stopped. Like many people who watch these videos, I’ve made curtains for many homes over the years, A lot of home decor items. I have done tailoring and made my husbands suits and my kids clothes many years ago. Sewing is a very Zen thing. Your mind is on what you’re working on and not on what other problems you might have in your life. It’s been what has gotten many of us through the worst of the pandemic. I started quilting 22 years ago. So you’re never too old to learn. Enjoy your new sewing machine and your new hobby. Hugs

I like them for bindings, period. I cut them on the straight of grain so the “wrap” around the edge of the quilt. In particular, a black and white stripe on a super-scrappy, brightly colored can look great. The prize is a fabric with diagonal stripes. It give the slant-y effect without the work of a diagonal binding.

Dorothy Young I agree. I finally realized that stripes are amazing for bindings. Once the perfect binging for a quilt I made using Tim Holtz Eclectic Elements happened to be from my landscape stash. It was a muted ‘wood’ I had with houses in mind for it. Well cut it made a perfect muted stripe fabric. Since then, I found that I tuck some stripes in quite a few quilts. Actually I, making a pattern right noe called Smooth Sailing. I’m sprinkling some stripe fabrics in fir the pieced sails. Happy quilting

Karen, I watch lots of your videos and love them. They are very useful to me even though I have already been sewing for 60+ years. Thank you for all the hard work. I was really excited to watch this video about using stripes. It was a very interesting presentation. However, I don't feel that many of the examples were on the screen long enough for them to even register in my brain. I watched it a second time and still got the same effect. I would have loved to have seen the examples a tiny bit longer so that both you words and the pics could register in my brain to increase my understanding of the subject better. Just a small suggestion that could make a big difference for us older folks or those new to sewing. Thank you
