    MORE DETAILS
After 7.5 years of construction coulpled with right-of-way and COVID delays, the first phase Light Rail Transit Line 1 South Extenstion (also known as "Cavite Extension") has just started serving the commuting public, and thousands have tried their first ride throughout the opening day on November 16, 2024.
This extension adds another 6.5 kilometers and 5 stations to LRT-1's existing system. The brand new stations are Redemptorist, MIA Road, Asia World, Ninoy Aquino, and Dr. Santos, all within Parañaque City. End-to-end trip up to FPJ Station at EDSA, Quezon City is about 50 minutes, with regular fare up to P45.
The most important here is the Asia World Station along CAVITEX Coastal Road. It's directly connected to Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange where provincial buses reaching as far as Northern Luzon and Mindanao can be found.
The MIA and Ninoy Aquino stations could give air travellers more convenient access to Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminals 1 and 2. Although not directly connected to airport terminals, these 2 stations may pave way for shorter shuttle services tailored for departing and arriving NAIA passengers which would replace slower jeepney rides to and from EDSA-Taft.
LRT-1 South Extension Phase 1 was inaugurated by President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on November 15, 2024, and opened ti the public the following day. The rest of the extension up to Niog in Bacoor City, Cavite is targetted to be finished by end of the decade. A common station at EDSA corner North Avenue which will link LRT-1 with MRT-3 and under-construction MRT-7 is also in the works.
This footage includes the following: EDSA-FPJ night view, Dr. Santos Station, Ninoy Aquino Avenue and nearby LRT station, Roxas Boulevard-Baclaran, and in-train rides using 3rd Gen and 4th Gen trains.
