Fun fact - The guitar is an Abasi 8-string. Guitarist Mike Stringer borrowed it from Tosin Abasi - lead guitarist with Animals As Leaders - because the colour matched his wife's outfit! Mike and vocalist Courtney LaPlante are husband and wife.
Every Spiritbox studio song is incredible, but they're one of those bands that sound even better live. And the live One Take of Circle With Me is earth shatteringly good
I have to correct you, Courtney's grandma died during corona (DURING! NOT because of). And Courtney could not come to her funeral, because of travel restrictions. But, the grandma of the Producer of the mvc of concance is the one who suffers from dementia.
Can we talked about the drums double time in the 2nd half of the last chorus? OMG it's so damn good. Hypnotizing is definitely the right word for this song. I really love their song "Jaded" off their newest album. It's like the perfect combo of gorgeous melodic vocals and heavy screams. Peak Spiritbox for me, personally.
If you want to hear Courtney doing all harsh vocals check out "Cellar Door", "Angel Eyes" or "Holy Roller". If you want the blend of clean and harsh check out "Jaded" (it was grammy nominated for Best Metal Song last year) "Blessed Be", "Rule of Nines" or "Rotoscope". If you want all cleans check out "Ultraviolet" ,"Too Close/Too Late" or "Constance".
Incredible band. So glad you dug them. Please do more Spiritbox. You won't be disappointed. Frankly, it's all good. Specific recommendations: Holy Roller, Blessed Be, Rule of Nines (live one take), Constance, Jaded, Ultraviolet, Cellar Door, Too Close Too Late, The Mara Effect (live at Silverside Sound), Belcarra. If you fancy a project, their recent six-song EP The Fear of Fear spans pretty much their entire stylistic range, and they did a video for every song.

You won't regret going down the Spiritbox rabbit hole. They haven't released a bad song yet. Also I can't recommend enough to also do the one take performances that they relesed for some of the songs (this one included).
By the way, about the amount of screaming, as one metal singer said: “You can have the best scream in the world, but if you scream all the time, people will say that you are as usual. But if you sing normally, and then turn on the scream, they will say "Oh, how he did it" ))
The band is based out of Victoria, BC. Courtney LePlant and her husband formed the band, after leaving an earlier one. Courtney was born in Alabama originally.
If you want a song that has more of the harsh lyrics, from Spiritbox, check out “the beauty of suffering“. Courtney recorded a one shot performance of the song.
PLEASE go back in the early catalogue before catching up . And one of the Best things ever is their Live version of The Mara Effect Live at Silverside Studio..... It's a 3 part piece, it is a trip. I am an older multi instrument rock/metal musician and this is in my top 10 favorite of all time performances..... I am in my early 50's so.... put that into perspective! ruclips.net/video/JreCi4pQtII/видео.html Please for your sake, on video or not, you need to see it. I will be patiently waiting... lol. Great reaction.
I'm sure you realized by now that the reason you had Spiritbox on your list is because they are awesome. I love Courtney's breathy cleans especially, though her harsh vocals are also impressive as well. This album, "Eternal Blue", is incredible. But if we're talking about Canadian metal from BC, you've got to check out Unleash the Archers sometime. "Awakening (Full Band Playthrough)" is the usual jumping on point for reactions, but it's from 2018. They just released a new album, "Phantoma", a month ago, so if you want something newer maybe "Ghosts in the Mist (Official Performance Video)" from that one, and they are power metal, so you're guaranteed a nice guitar solo. If you don't mind something longer (8 1/2 min), with no video, one of their best songs is "The Wind that Shapes the Land" from their album "Abyss", which was the album immediately prior to this latest one. UtA has been doing concept albums for the last few, with "Apex" and "Abyss" being one fantasy story across both. "Phantoma" is about AI. The whole band is excellent, top notch musicians and Brittney Slayes (Hayes, but someone said "Slayes" somewhere once and it stuck) is hands down one of the best vocalists in metal today.
Seeing that you're a Texas girl, and a anime fan, I'm sending you into the vtuber rabbit hole. The rapping reaper from hololive, Mori Calliope. The song, Off with their heads. A bit of tease behind the song is that on stream someone asked her what it takes to be a vtuber, and she responded, by saying "lots and lots of content." My girl is a workaholic you see and one of the top talents in hololive even though she's American. A lot of people gave her backlash, cause I guess people don't like working. This is the song she responded with.
Though not being a guitarist of my own... I would claim that's a ABASI 8 string. Which is Animals as leaders guitarist and master Tosin Abasi. It kind of share the body you find on Strandberg guitars, which are more compact, since it does lack a head. The tuners are in the body. Both are made to rest comfortably on the lap.
I like the MVs to their songs but the live one-takes are generally better from a vocal standpoint. Most metal songs are mixed with the instruments foremost and the vocals matched to them. Like I can barely stand Lorna shores MVs but they sound way better to me in Will Ramos’ one-takes. That being said I do really like spirit box’s MV for “holy roller” such a cool visual.
A singer, guitar, bass, drums and a huge mountain of computers, software that "improves" and smooths out everything about this band, this huge wall of sounds that in reality they are unfortunately not capable of creating themselves as a band of musicians! For me one of the most disappointing and completely overrated acts in the last 1-2 years, sorry Grammy nomination for what? All computer generated music, media hype generated just because of Tikitoki clicks..... And then live on stage, just....just disappointing how artificial and sometimes bad they sound when something isn't working with their computers and software in the background! Experienced three times at festivals and on a tour, heard when acts like them only do everything with computers and software, and are not really capable of doing it themselves with instruments and voice, singing, videos and all that in the studio, album etc! She has a beautiful, great voice when she sings normally, but her screams and growls live sound really unpleasant to me because they're so, hm 🤔 forced, with certain kinds of squeezing out at all costs, and that's why her screams and growls sound so unnaturally unpleasant in the long run! I don't like listening to them too often, they're far too artificial for me, computer and software generated "music computer" artists developers engineers....

The vocal one take version is even better.
Oh hell yeah. Every Spiritbox song there is at least 1 live version that is so much better
It's a MUST watch 👀
Yes I totaly agree. Its more power in it.
Great that you are checking out Spiritbox. Courtney does a one take version of this you should check out too.
The ending of the one take version of this song is so much better than the recorded one
I would recommend: "Spiritbox - Rule of Nines - Courtney LaPlante live one take performance". It doesn't disappoint.
Why not the music video
@@Frenchtoast1123 The video is good to, but the one take is pretty fun!
@@PhildotheGreat gotcha

"Both" is the correct answer, duh?
Constance is the most brutafully (brutal and beautiful)saddest song I’ve ever heard. It’s about Courtney’s grandma living with dementia
Every. Single. Time I hear that song someone's cutting onions in the room.
I have to correct you, Courtney's grandma died during corona (DURING! NOT because of). And Courtney could not come to her funeral, because of travel restrictions.
But, the grandma of the Producer of the mvc of concance is the one who suffers from dementia.
Now you have to listen to the one take
Nearly 15 months since I saw them live and thats more than 14 months too long 🥰

UNDERRATED COMMENT
6:05 “I want more of that the devil inside” yup we all want that 😂😂
If you want to feel like you never felt, Constance. That song sent me for weeks
One-take would be a better option.
Listening to you explain a breakdown was hilarious, great video
Add my vote for Circle With Me, live one take version. Courtney really steps it up!
that "glitch sound" is a string scrape.
its used heavily by Gojira , spiritbox and tony danza tapdance extravaganza
to name a few .

Holy roller and Angel Eyes are both super heavy almost all the screamed vocal.
Wall of sound? Yeah you'll like these guys. They are good live too. I love their latest album. its phenomenal.
The one take of this is even better. Thanks for the reaction! Great as always!

The guitar is an "Abasi Concept" 8-String...
If you like that you should go check out her one take version of the song it will blow your mind
You could check out Face Yourself-Death Reflection. Yasmine is an absolute vocal monster.
She wants the beautiful demon ... there she gets it. Also the new track from Vintersea with their new vocalist Kayla Dixon, that's a banger, too.
Subbed for mooooooore spiritbox x

Hi Nittpicc, have you listened to the band Speed with the song "The First Test"
live one take performance would have been better. Take the time to watch it.
vanny vabiola I will always love you.. Whitney Houston cover amazing voice
Cheers to the Demon Goosies
Courtney is the siren & the demon in one.
Jeez, how do you +1 to every song sug in the comments?
