Like you guys, they married young and were a little clueless about the traditions and also very broke lol. So it's a good way to visually make your ceremony one that you've always dreamed of. But also, and more importantly maybe, it's a really beautiful way to reaffirm to the world and to each other how strong and how infinite your love is :')

Both my mom and grandma were pregnant when they married at 19. My parent's recently celebrated their 53rd anniversary. People don't realize that getting married because she's pregnant was somewhat common in the past.

Actually, the bridesmaids were indeed used as bait, but it was more about them all looking the same (bride included) rather than wearing colors. The bridesmaids and bride used to look the same so as to confuse demons as to which was the bride. The real reason brides wore white was because of queen victoria. In fact it wasn't until the 1800s that brides wore white, the popular color used to be red. (Nami hearted this yeeeee ily nami)
That's so funny! I just got recently married as well at 19 and because we were both busy as well we had so many cringe moments too! We also forgot to have a knife there too and it was hilarious because we forgot to have background music so all of our guests were looking at us with complete silence for 3 mins while someone was looking for the knife too! Oh bless - good memories!

Like you, I was pregnant (and very ill) when I got married, but ours did not cost much at all because we had nothing. (for various reasons) We had a registry office wedding with his parents, and a few of his friends (his uni roomies, basically), and it cost £25. Then we went to a local pub for dinner, paid for by his parents, and that was it. My dress was a white dress borrowed from a friend who asked for it back right after. We celebrated 20 years this past spring and have 2 kids, our son is 20 and his baby sister is turning 4 in a few weeks. 😊 Oh, I forgot to mention we had less than 3 weeks to plan the wedding because otherwise I was going to be sent back home. That wouldn't be allowed now; I'd have been sent home anyway. 😒 (I'm Canadian, hubby's British. But we live in Europe now.) Listening to your story, I don't know you at all, but at the same time, I'm grateful you had the help and support to be able to have at least a memorable day, if nothing else. 😊 And I guess the best part of it is you have each other and are still growing together. I think that's awesome. 💕
I’m pretty sure the woman at the counter at Town Hall asked if you could wait 5-6 months because she’s probably a mom and wanted you guys to wait and maybe you’d change your mind. Plenty of couples that get together young stay together but I feel like I might have said something similar just in a nicer way to a couple of kids coming in to get married.
Regardless, its still none of her business. And it puts a damper on what its meant to be a beautiful moment. If her intentions were truly because she wanted them to wait "in case they would change their mind" what another way to be disrespectful towards their wedding, choice, and love. She knew nothing about them, and it wasnt her place. Id have filed a complaint after.

If I get married I would also like to have a small simple wedding but African parents sees "small wedding" as 200 or more invited 😂. My sister got married at 2014 and she was also very young (20) and she didn't use to work same as her husband (they were college students and college in Sweden is actually free for some students so no students use to work to pay off their university fees) but they manage to get the money for a very simple and cheap wedding! My 1 year wedding anniversary is on the 4th of September!!!! I just wish my husband could be with me to celebrate, but he's away working. We got married when I was 18 and he was 20. Our wedding was not fancy at all and very small. 24 people including us, There was a a lot of home made decorations by yours truly and I spent several hours burning fabric to make my flowers by hand and we ended up having to be careful so they wouldn't fall out. But at least they were pretty haha My dad made our cake and it was GORGEOUS!

omgggg this video caused a whole lot of PTSD from my wedding 😂😂😂 we prepped the whole wedding in 4 days. Also I didnt throw my bouquet, so my friends dragged me to the back of the church to do our private bouquet ceremony lollllll there were literally stray dogs and local street food vendor owners watching us (this was in thailand) 😂😂our wedding was super ghetto too (~$4000 for the whole thing)

I am actually so happy to come across this video (and you because you're so sweet and adorable). I'm 17 and I'm marrying my 19 year old fiance. I've been so nervous since the wedding is in 2 weeks, and I'm afraid of something going wrong. But through your video I learned that things do go wrong at weddings and there's always hiccups along the way. My 1 year wedding anniversary is on the 4th of September!!!! I just wish my husband could be with me to celebrate, but he's away working. We got married when I was 18 and he was 20. Our wedding was not fancy at all and very small. 24 people including us, There was a a lot of home made decorations by yours truly and I spent several hours burning fabric to make my flowers by hand and we ended up having to be careful so they wouldn't fall out. But at least they were pretty haha My dad made our cake and it was GORGEOUS!

omgggg this video caused a whole lot of PTSD from my wedding 😂😂😂 we prepped the whole wedding in 4 days. Also I didnt throw my bouquet, so my friends dragged me to the back of the church to do our private bouquet ceremony lollllll there were literally stray dogs and local street food vendor owners watching us (this was in thailand) 😂😂our wedding was super ghetto too (~$4000 for the whole thing)

I can kind of relate to this. I had a really low budget wedding too hahaha! And I too didn't know much about weddings. But I was lucky to have done it at my church and have the people there help out with a lot of things. I still would have done things differently, but I just look forward to later down the road we can maybe have a really awesome vow renewal haha.
