- Well this wasn't one of my target bucks but after 5 days in the stand I lowered the bar a little bit. Either way I'm pretty happy with this buck. I had passed on a few smaller bucks in the first 4 days. He wasn't the heaviest buck but he had some decent antlers and there was no way I was letting this one walk away
Literally just did the same thing to a crop damage doe with a longbow 5 days ago. Spines her, mortally wounded but put another in her. Video will be out hopefully by Tuesday! Very cool to see what hunting all that way out west is like. First black tail video I’ve ever seen. Nice work! Subbed.
Thanks man. And I Just subbed ya. going to check out your vids. And looking forward to your new vid on Tuesday. Keep on keep'n on........ Eric
Anyone who has ever hunted blacktail deer will understand how difficult it is to hunt them. Major props on putting in the 2nd shot. Not easy. . . any of it. I hunted BT for years and was never able to let an arrow fly at them. Congrats, and great footage too!
Thanks man. Really appreciate it.
Dude that was awesome! Ive been looking at a bow here in south africa as I had all my guns stolen in a huge robbery. I just bought a small farm of 25 hectares. There are some buck on the place but not many trees to get into like that. I have no possible way of getting a gun here unless the cops find my rifles. Anyway great job! I'll keep watching and looking for gear here.
Hell yeah 🤙👊. Going out Thursday and Friday 👌
Good luck man.
Excellent follow up shot! Nice buck. I look forward to your videos every year.
Thanks buddy!
Just got a Switchback XT from a friend and found a 27.5” cam. Plan on swapping out the 29” this week. Cant wait to see how well I can shoot it.
You will not be disappointed.
@@SoloCamXTOutdoors I am not. Would like to learn what maintenance you do on yours and where you get your strings.
@@AZHighlandHomestead Well, every month or 2 I put a couple drops of cam lube on the axels and depending on how much you shoot change the string and cable every couple years. I use the Zebra strings. I have my local shop change the strings for me and tie in the peep.
Very exciting hunt, I enjoyed all the camera angles!
Thanks!
That kind of stuff happens. Good follow up shot though, and on a nice buck to.
Thanks. Actually this was the first time I ever spined one in 15 years of bow hunting. But I knew what I had to do and quick.
I hunted in the rain this year and tagged a doe. My buddies who didn’t kill deer complained about how wet is at home on the couch. Way to be hardcore.
Nice deer bro.🇺🇸
Congrats on your deer. And ya, I never understood why people sit it out because it's raining. That's the best time to be out there. The rain does not bother the deer in the least bit and I tend to see the most deer movement when it's raining. Not to mention you can get away with a lot more under the cover of the noise from the rain.
Nice work! Just had a similar situation out of my stand in southern Oregon. Hit a limb and sent the arrow way right and it went through both hindquarters. Waited 2 hours to track and he bled out a few hundred yards away. Bow hunting isn’t always pretty and I appreciate you sharing this!
Ya he could have floundered there for minutes so I knew I had to get another one in him quick. There is a brutal reality to it for sure and things don’t always go as planned. And I’m glad you were able to find yours.
Awesome video. Pretty cool how many angles you get on your hunts. This will be my 2nd archery season and I hope I can get it done!
Thanks! Good luck this season.. It's approaching fast.
@@SoloCamXTOutdoors yes it is, but I think I'm ready!
@@redneckoutdoorsandgaming3301 Been getting ready since last season ended LOL
Nice shot...
A very respectable 3x3. He's a buck I would've taken on the first day ,easy. Excellent video as always bye the way. Look at the briteside. The giant eye guard buck will get another whole year of antler growth.
On day one I probably would have let this guy go but not on day 5. No hesitation there. I actually had the big eye guard buck right under my nose on day 2 but it was still too dark to see. I could tell there were a couple deer there at 15 yards. 10 minutes later and I would have been able to see. When I pulled the SD cards that evening I almost fell out of my chair. He was right there. ☹️
@@SoloCamXTOutdoors Wow! that's gotta sting a little. Hopefully he stays in the home area.
always with reverence, that was a well executed hunt! always a little sad and a lot of awesome! beautiful deer
Thank you Sir.
What kind of Matthews?
@@roberttophan9314 Switchback XT. Love that bow.
@@SoloCamXTOutdoors still use it?
@@roberttophan9314 oh ya. Use to this day. Bought it new in 2006 and never had a reason to let it go. It’s quiet, dead in the hand and has never let me down.
Love you’re videos man 👍
Hector Pérez-solis
thanks man!

@@SoloCamXTOutdoors no shit man that’s were my folks live I live in the city of Lebanon but still pretty close
@@mountainmack9466 LOL. Small world
Congrats brother 🙌
Thanks man.
Are you still in the Willamette unit?
I'm in the southern part of the Santiam Unit 16. I only hunted the Willamette Unit for one season about 8 or 9 years ago.
Good work! I missed a doe today, first shot at a deer with a bow. Just a little ways south of you.
Well we like to chalk those up as practice. We've all done that one :) Lots of season left. I hope you get a chance to redeem.
Love the vids , what part of western Oregon r u in
Thanks Victor.. I'm in the cascade foothills about 15 miles east of Albany, Oregon.
@@SoloCamXTOutdoors that’s sweet , I’ve been hunting everywhere but mainly , just out of cottage grove
@@victorgiffen1059 There are some big boys down in that area too.. The bucks are still chasing. I checked my cameras yesterday and it's still the rut for sure. You got a couple more weekends to go. Hopefully you nail one.
@@SoloCamXTOutdoors do you hunt private property or public and nice shooting dropped him 👍
@@FreddyMoraless Thanks! And it's a small piece of private land. The deer come and go through the property. Some days they are everywhere and then nowhere.
Great footage. Good shooting Bro .
Thanks bro! Had to put him out of his misery quickly. That first arrow clipped a twig and made it go a bit high.
Deer taco time!!
Yes indeed..
I respect the legality of your hunt, but...this shows one of the main reasons I don’t bow hunt. I believe ethical hunting should entail the quickest death of the animal you’re hunting. And...the best way to to achieve this is with a rifle.
Michael Boehm
Well allow me to disagree with you completely. Normally I would get a pass through double lung and they are dead within seconds. I have taken a lot of deer with my bow over the last 15 years and this was the first time I had to deal with this situation. This merely shows the reality of hunting where things don't always go as planned. And that's why I very quickly put the second arrow through both lungs. The same exact thing can and does happen rifle hunting more often than you think and is much more brutal. But congratulations to you for being the perfect hunter and always killing your deer instantly apparently...
