  • After a couple years of watching big bucks walk by his stand, Wyatt finally had the opportunity he had been working toward when a beautiful blacktail buck presented a shot on the second day of Oregon's late archery blacktail season.

    By far, nobody come close to not only the quality of black tail footage, but the quantity of deer you guy see and let walk for the footage sake is amazing! Great video

      Thanks Chase! The camera has certainly contributed to some really good bucks getting away. But it's all worth it being able to relive everything, and it's even more special when it comes together on a stud buck like it did here!

    Dang it, man that is a beast. Nothing more challenging in my opinion than big blacktails with a bow. Wow. Way to go. I hunted them for 10 years up on the Olympic peninsula and the best I ever got was a heavy horned three point with a rifle. Awesome footage.

    That's a great Blacktail and a very fitting end for such a fine animal. The way that buck died is about as good as any wild creature could hope for.

      @Boxing 101 these guys are doing the same as that, cameras and knowing the bucks are in the area and some kind of bait is definitely being used its obvious from the deers actions

    Hello, the forked horn buck with eye guards on day two, looking at his bases if that buck gets two to three more years of growth he she be a very nice buck. Thank you for not putting stupid rock music in your video, very much appreciate that. I was very impressed with your first shot and the mindset to follow up with the second arrow to insure the deer didn't suffer any longer. Very good video.

    If you don't mind me asking, about how long before sunrise do you guys leave your truck to head to the stand? I realize the distance to the stand plays a part. I have bumped deer multiple times in the dark and always questioned if I was doing more damage than good. Is this the coast range? I am up in the NW corner of the state and exclusively hunt the coast. Love the content fellas. You guys have the best blacktail footage I have seen. Keep up the good work. God bless you.

    • @AgainstTheWindOutdoors
      @AgainstTheWindOutdoors  5 лет назад +1

      For us, it depends on the stand location and how we have to access it, but generally we try and arrive at the stand an hour before light. It gives us time to get the camera equipment set up and then settle down. If it's an area that's not typically going to see deer all day and you're banking on the first hour, you might want to get there earlier. If you plan on an all day sit, being there at light, or just before, may not be a problem. As far as leaving the truck, some of our stands are relatively easy to get to, and some are as far as a four/five miles back. Leaving the truck then often depends on the weather and temps, as we try to avoid being drenched in sweat by the time we get there... So honestly, it's been trial and error every year, and our theories are constantly changing as we learn and experience more. Hope this helps, but we are far from experts! Thanks for watching, and good luck this year!

      Thanks! It's certainly a bit stressful, especially after the first day when it looked like it was just going to be a repeat of previous seasons. We were all ecstatic when it did come together! Congrats on a great buck this year, yourself!
