Geez! What have they become? I don't even know this corps any more. They were always my favorite. I've got friends that marched with them "back in the day" and they were freakin' awesome then. I know Scott Stewart's gone but this?.......Really? Good luck holding down 13th spot again. I'm rooting for you guys but also rooting for a BIG change!
It's so sad. Identities lost. Decades of working to build organizations through differing style and tradition... where people cared about the corps and what they did, swept out the door in favor of this boutique-ish amalgamation of productions that are SO unidentifiable from one another that there is no lasting impression to the fan of the activity. Show designers and consultants trying to out-obscure one another in an effort to score higher, rather than provide memorable moments. I have family and friends that have been involved with the activity since the 80's till this year. It is nothing but a shame that the product is becoming, quite literally, unwatchable.
@ Sal Zulaman ... I know. It makes you wanna cry, but you just shake your head. It doesn't matter the The BD and SCV are battling it out again. I have lost all interest in those two corps. Actually the top five corps.
DCI judges and leadership are burying this show in order to avoid negative publicity. 1) The allusion to teepee structures and Native American head dresses are culturally ignorant, especially considering the strong Native American tradition of Wisconsin, the corps' home state. 2) The music is mostly dissonant, jarring, overly percussive, emotionally monochromatic and without resonance. 3) The dramatic action is weak-- the characters, the who/what/where platform, the progression and resolution are murky and confusing. 4) The scalping is needlessly violent, cliche, and points to the lack of story depth. 5) The thematic allusion of the show (Mad Max) is unclear in story, in purpose, and in visual manifestation, and as a result, appears to be a cover for racist depiction of native American "savages". 6) The violence and anger in the show is disturbing, disingenuous, unfounded, and uncomfortable to watch. 7) The talented, fluid dancers appear to be miscast in their roles as vicious, brutal tribal fighters. 8) The bizarrely frenetic and bird-like modern dance choreography doesn't match the temperament of tribal fighters, real or imagined, past present or future. 9) The show meaning and story don't match the mission or objective of the corps overall. 10) The audience response is frigid, but the design team refuses to edit. 11) The show theme appears to have been selected in order to bolster some imagined public image of masculinity-- an uncomfortable, self-conscious and awkward premise. 12) Madison appears to have signed a marketing agreement with the uniform manufacturer in exchange for rescinding their traditional trademark uniform. 13) This show tops last year's reckless spin on Jesus Christ Superstar which attempted to make a dark antihero of a red leotard-clad suicidal Judas, the world's most loathed biblical figure, while using toe-tapping music from the Broadway musical comedy.
This is sad because I love Madison and I marched in an entirely different corps ... I'm not one of those haters. Just because I marched in a different corps doesn't mean I can't appreciate other shows ... and on that note: The MS show is just, well, tasteless, sloppy, and so not Madison.
And, what's your point???!!! Mr. Jesu Spectre? I know quite a bit about Wisconsin as an Indian. And if you are Native American, there is no such thing as "Wisconsin." Take that from someone who grew up in La Crosse where the better corps is. Hint, hint, hint, hint
I loved this show right from the beginning! What imagination,. What daring do from a storied corps! A Minnesota Territories show!
Impressive, especially if you've performed Music for Prague and lived the era. Well played!
Gotta love those aussies!!!
Sharad Dixit "And those traditional scouts uniforms ehh"
I don’t think this show ever got the credit it deserved. I loved this show! I think the following year’s show was a mistake.
I love this show and the other Madison scouts shows before this were fucking stupid so this is a huge step up. Come at me
What do you like best about it?

You should have been their consultant. What would you have told them? What's your opinion of their head dress?
Looks like a poor mans version of The Cavaliers. AKA Cavies wanna be's. Sorry what happened to the Madison Scouts.
@ Danny Bishop: Did you march in the Scouts?
