2010 The Cavaliers (2nd place - 97.75); their final warm up in a lot across from Lucas Oil Field. Found in my archives. Only a few hung around to catch this. Wow, 10 years ago!

When will the Scouts start wearing the uniforms they traditionally wore? Also, what's the point of cymbals anymore? Hardly anyone uses them, you can barely hear them over the cymbals on the sideline.
I don’t think this show ever got the credit it deserved. I loved this show! I think the following year’s show was a mistake.
which college marching band is this??
Y’all are really harsh in these comments. This is a youth group having the experience of their lives. Be kind !
It's not a jr. Corps
They use to be all male!
They rehearsed at my highschool today, we have pre band camp so we got to go watch them rehearsal for a bit! Amazing
I never enjoy a park and bark show. Sorry
Lets go Scouts!! Hope we go to finals this year 🎉
This is awesome! May not be the cleanest show of the year but my personal favorite 2024 show I’ve seen so far!
It seems the Scouts got infected with the PC WOKE virus and things went downhill and I felt they lost their way. Still can't get used to the distracting "eye candy," ridiculous dancing/prancing around. What happened to M&M? Why is half the corp on the sidelines? What with all the flags and miniature jungle gyms?
PC Woke? In all caps nonetheless. That seems to be the point you want to stand out. Please elaborate.
Adapt or die. Not adapting sooner is what gave the result of the 2019 season.
Oh no, not the WOKE! I’m too fragile to see any ideas outside my own. Nothing happened to M&Ms, the chocolate tastes the same as it always has
At 6:55 bass drum 3 drops stick and bass 5 picks it up. Bass 3 plays with 1 stick until 8:05 when bass 5 gives stick back.
This show was AWESOME live. I don’t really care what y’all say it’s an amazing show and body shop topped it all off if you’re any age except ancient.
I'm ancient, and we used to win this shit
Maybe I need to see this live. It’s seems fairly clean for this early. I’m trying to be nice, and I’m definitely not one of those bitter alumns… but this is really safe. I expect more of a crowd reaction as a Scout and for the Scouts. I will say the lack of drill bothers me at the moment. Again I need to see this live
Madison show is worth a top twelve show.
I've actually been pretty down on the scouts in recent years but this show actually is pretty darn good. Loses a bit of steam in the early ballad transition but the brass hit is a rather nice payoff. Heading in the right direction though (except the uniforms. not a fan of those lol)
The cavies have a curse…so please take advantage of it…GO MADDIIES!
Sopranos at 5:26!!! THAT is Madison muscle.
Painful
🤓 womp womp. Let’s congratulate the members on a fantastic FINALS performance!
@@reddpawz alot of talent.. worst uniforms ever..b
@@HarryVombrack a uniform that can identify as them as the scouts, and is still very functional for the visual demand of modern drum corps. I love it! It sparkled under the Lucas Oil lights last night!
I guess the days of a Madison show that is hard driving and moving to a crescendo at the end with frenetic drill are over. What a shame.
Womp womp, HUGE crowd reaction at finals this year ;)
Amazing performance, and a great recording to capture it! :)
Scout members - Great Job! Scout Designers - Nice BOA show. Not the corps I marched in..... Do better.
Bro stfu and move on with your life
most corps are like that these days unfortunately. im 24 and i miss the marching and drills
what year did you march
@@vidi1134 late 80s
Yup....marched Scouts 20 years ago and am thankful for the experience and traditions that I assume no longer exist
Great show! Keep up the good work!
I kept fast forwarding about every 10 to 20 seconds and just about every time they were at stand still. Just tells you the lack of drill in drum corp these days. What ever happened to powerhouse music and drills in drum corp
cry cry cry
I remember when the vfw required to have a section of the show be a park and bark section
Womp womp
Me when things are different than they used to be:
@@jacobrizzuto1501 well ig you can just drop marching then. like isnt this activity based around that....
With some cleaning this show has enough teeth to be a top 12 show!
That's what I'm SAYING!! They can do it
Completely disagree, and as a matter of fact couldn’t disagree more. The design of this show would be wonderful for a band like the Spartans; however, for the Madison Scouts this design is just too rudimentary. Please don’t say I’m “shitting” on performers working hard. This is a design discussion, NOT a “hard work” discussion. And, before commenting on my name, look up this difference between the words “this” and “that”.
@@ThatIsJustCrazyTalk crazy talk indeed. Who's the Spartans?
@@ThatIsJustCrazyTalkSpartans catching unnecessary strays 😭
@@phillyb.4682 Michigan State University. Yet again, not a single damned one of you DBI (formerly DCI) sycophants can argue my point cogently. Y’all ALWAYS resort to some childish retort. GROW UP.
Best Scouts show in many years!
Tuning
Rusty Cage was supposed to be the opener right? I love that song, but I don't hear it at all. They wouldve blown everyone's minds if they did the breakdown... or any of it
What are they wearing? what is that Ball all about? OMG. DCI has been taken doen the Rainbow Road...
I'm a Democrat, but I so agree about the direction of DCI. You've got Karens in the comments here complaining about how other peoples' comments are "petty", and for Madison to "do its thing". DCI needs to get back to doing ITS thing, not this nonsense that crybabies who don't want to wear hats, and mommies who want to see their 15th chair trumpet get a solo, are begging for.
Madison Scouts, never afraid to play the high notes and feature soloist. Never gets old. Lots of great content. Thanks for sharing.
It’s a shame that the programming required this be rushed through, because I feel like there was some really good emotional potential here. But you know it’s a treat just to hear them do it.
They made their mind as to whether they wanted to be a bonafide corp or a circus performance. They worked very hard and are excellent, IMHO, in their endeavor. It's a bread and circuses performance, like the rest of DCI. It will only get more woke as time goes when no one really takes this seriously anymore. There is so much potential that, cognitively, is left on the field.
I was literally at this rehearsal, the Mankato high school marching band had a clinic with them
I thought it was awesome!!!
Actually wouldn’t mind snares going back to mylar heads instead of the kevlar or whatever that is that sounds like plywood
Best show of the season!!!
I personally thought this was awesome!!! Im an oldie. Crown 01-02 Crossmen 03, and I have to say its nice to see a corps actually MARCHING and using effective drill! The body movements werent over the top, and the Black Hole Sun exerpt had me goin yeaaaaahhhhhh!!!! 💪😎 Get it Madison. At least youre staying true to your guns. Haters gonna hate. Great job!!!!!
You say you are an oldie? Baby, you are about 35 years late You weren't born when I was a !st tenor on the line, LOL!
@@jcw3195 well, in DCI years, 40 is up there Id think. Haha
For Peter!
Saw this live on Wednesday. Great show. The guard was INCREDIBLE!
Drumline and Color Guard are great! Good overall sound for the horns!
Am i the only one who was bored. I miss older drum corps when there was faster pace drill segments and and more sound coming from the horn lines. Just sayin
they were at my school, they sound so good gave me a magical experience
that ballad is so beautifully arranged
is MB back to marching DCA?????
Am I missing something? People are saying this show doesn’t have drill, too much body work/flutter… I agree that trend is terrible and dislike it, but this show has way more drill than most other shows this year. I liked the music? I generally agree with the things people are complaining about, but this is the wrong show to point to. And they have hats, and no mid show uniform change. What am I missing?
Try fundamental B&D philosophy rather than a circus act. Try M&M rather than drag queen flag dancing and trombones, and a side line orchestra. Get back to basics... and the music selection is another matter.
Sounds great. The field drill however seems to be effected by thinking. More reps.
Im now one of those drum corps oldtimers and while i think the direction of the activity artistically is majority positive, it is nice to see a show where the field isnt cluttered up with props
As a real old timer, I see trombones, silly drag flag performers, and the huge amount of additional on-side instrumentation as a distraction of the primary purpose of a B&D corp. You might as well add elephants and clown cars. But don't expect real oldtimers to take this BS seriously.
Yep, i remember when Garfield was called 'Thje Garbage Cadets' because of the litter they left on field. £ Point Penalty for anything but musicians on the field at any time!
@@jcw3195 what do you mean by drag flag performers? Color guard members in drag?
This ahow is just ok, nothing special or has anything that stands out, it's just another average corp show, as of 07/23 they rank 17th in World Class, with a score of 77.175. They haven't had a great show since 2017's Last Man Standing which was the last year they placed in the top 12. Nothing against the corp itself but if we're going to be honest either going co-ed was a wrong move or the leadership i.e. musical director / show designer etc etc needs to be changed from top to bottom. With 3wks left until championship do you see them in the to 12?
Can you give an explanation as to why going coed could possibly be the reason for the past few year's placements? I want to see if you can give an answer than actually makes sense. (Not possible)
@@sethsimerly4392 What makes sense is the fact that ever since they’ve gone coed they haven’t they placed above 15th because their last few shows have been as exciting as watching paint dry. They’ve become just another coed corp with no personality, nothing that makes them stand out. Blue Coats, Mandarins and the Troopers have personality and that something about them that makes them stand out. The Cavaliers are the last remaining all male corp, but outside of being the last remaining all male corp they have shows with elements that make them stand out. Give one example of something that makes them standout since going coed.
@@sethsimerly4392 Give me an example of why going coed makes them a better corp let's see if you can give me one (NOT POSSIBLE) Go back and read my comment and tell me where I said anything about going coed making no sense or it being the reason why they haven't placed in the top 12, since 2017 oh you can't because I NEVER SAID THAT!!!! What I said was " Nothing against the corp itself but if we're going to be honest EITHER going co-ed was a wrong move or the leadership i.e. musical director / show designer etc etc needs to be changed from top to bottom." Madison Scouts were in need of a chage since 2018, I don't know why or even care about them going coed, in my opinion it came off as a gimmic. Whatever the reason they come off as your average corp with lack luster shows.
Awesome!! Thank you for getting all of the sections in this video. I was able to find my child and follow him through a good portion of the performance.
Man their guard went to shit.
I was in the scouts guard 85-87 . This is painful to watch
No matter what anyone thinks these kids are creating memories that will stay with them forever ! As a vet from the 80’s and 90’s, Scott Stewart taught us to never worry about the numbers, be in the moment and BYBO! May You NEVER Walk Alone
