    Seems like the bus is mechanically well working and good, but that it needs a massive design overhaul of the physical spaces. At least they got the performance aspect right, but they really need to rework the onboard spaces, windows, and designs.
    And like you said its great that the Chinese bus builders are pushing the rest of the global market to go greener. Whether the chinese solutions succeed or not. Down to the south here in Denmark, nearly half of all electric buses in the country are built by Yutong alone, and are highly regarded by both passengers and workers. Ive even heard from several bus drivers who deliberately changed workplaces from electric European buses like MAN's and VDL's to Yutong operators because the Yutong buses they use are nicer to work on.
    We dont have anywhere near as many electric coaches as Norway yet, only 9 total in the country. All built by Yutong, 8 T12e's and a single ICe12 for a driving school. Electric coaches might be viable here but whats needed is more fastcharging for trucks and buses along the roads and highways, as well as fastchargers at bus stations. Thankfully there are plans for fastchargers along the Danish highway system. Nothing for bus terminals though but if that can happen, then I bet electric coaches will become very viable.

    • @bussmagasinet1
      @bussmagasinet1  3 месяца назад +2

      I think it's smart to not buy too many electric coaches yet. The general infrastructure is not ready yet. But, in a couple of year, this will be a lot better!

    • @drdewott9154
      @drdewott9154 3 месяца назад +2

      @@bussmagasinet1 True. The coaches that are currently ordered, aside from the one at a driving school, are mainly used for smaller things like tourist shuttles, and transporting school classes and kindergartens around for now.

    Enjoyed your input Magne & Tom in this Video 📹..Its sad that @01:50 The Driver has to be in a Cage 😧 To protect the Driver from assaults & Attacks..In these times As always Thankyou

    • @bussmagasinet1
      @bussmagasinet1  3 месяца назад +2

      Yes, we know the purpose of the cage, but we don't like it. Maybe we're to naive back in safe Norway. We don't want the driver to be in a potential danger while being at work

      @jaakkoiswatching6437 3 месяца назад +1

      In my city no driver has ever wanted the cage, but the city mandates it for all city traffic for all bus operators. Those who mandated it have never driven a bus.

    I think the Summer/Winter button is to turn off regen-braking for slippery conditions?

  • @Azku_
    @Azku_ 3 месяца назад +1

    my best guess for the "winter" button is that it turns off regenerative braking for when it's very icy outside. the same button in the BYD city buses I drive is "rain/snow", but I very rarely use it because the regen braking turns itself off immediately when it notices skidding, which is perfectly safe if you're cautious and approach the bus stop slowly.

      That’s actually a very good thought!

  • @chuayx7572

    For the driver door glass panel, it seems to be some anti-assault shield, protection for drivers. Not everyone want to have somebody suddenly walk up from behind and try to hit you or assault you, at least from the front, it probably gives the driver a few more seconds of reaction time.
    King Long might want to fix some flaws - the rear seating looks seriously claustrophobic.

    • @bussmagasinet1
      @bussmagasinet1  3 месяца назад +1

      The purpose of the cage is good, but it’s too sad that this have to be a problem 🥲

    Known as “Jieguan 5” in China, this KingLong model although designed by the British DCA seems to share its character lines from the Marcopolo G8 especially upfront. 🤔

  • @robinsonshawqx
    @robinsonshawqx Месяц назад

    The glass pane that makes you claustrophobic is actually a safety feature to fend off unruly passengers. It was required after an incident in Chongqing where a bus drvier got into a fight with an unruly passenger, resulting in the bus running off a bridge and crashed into a river. Don't think Kinglong did any adaptation or localization before bringing the buses to European market.
    Even though I am a Chinese and I wish nothing but the best for our industrial products, I understand that Chinese buses are not always the most brilliant in terms of build quality and there's so much catchup to do. Same thing cannot be said about passenger cars though--Chinese cars are getting very good in that department.

    • @bussmagasinet1
      @bussmagasinet1  Месяц назад

      What a sad story. We also had incidents in Europe, causing these buses to have the “cage”. They are very common in Europe.
      True! Chinese quality in cars are something else! That’s for sure 🥰

    I think the big problem with chinese busses is, they look like very modern vehicles, but they all are just cheap mass produced busses with very bad thoughts to detail, like as seen with the pedals and entrance. They may be cheaper, but they are just worse then the european competition...

    • @bussmagasinet1

I appreciate history and heritage but I guess if the masses don’t care where their stuff is built, China is all to happy to oblige. Then the same people get mad if it constantly breaks down.
