Hi guys, I'm starting a new channel... so if you would like to show your appreciation for the time I spend editing and uploading these Countdown videos each week, I would ask you to do me a favor and subscribe to www.youtube.com/@SmarterHomesAndGardens which will be about home automation and things like that. YT has some policies about uploading videos longer than 10 minutes that require a certain number of subscribers, etc. Anyway, would appreciate your help in getting the new channel started. Thanks! (...and don't worry I'll keep uploading Countdown on this channel.)
Noticed Rachel was about to say "The usual" when getting the numbers for the first round, but changed it. Wondering if that was to keep her from getting emotional because on CatsDown, the late Sean Lock would ask for two big/four little by saying "The usual, please, Rachel." Rachel had referred to it on the show as the "Seany (or Sean Lock) Special."
It was so obvious that I was amazed they both missed it. Most people would just solve 625=25*X first. The X being 25 was easy to construct with the remaining numbers, and it conveniently left a 1.
@@litigioussociety4249 5 Countdown rounds are filmed in 1 day. The pressure of just 1 round is already immense. Imagine what it's like doing that 5 times in a row. You would be exhausted too. And they probably don't sleep well the night before. Always a lot easier from behind your computer screen.
@@jacquesmertens3369Also based on the other rounds it seems math wasn't their strong aspect, but it's hard to overstate the pressure of cameras, an audience, and that dang clock lol
@@jacquesmertens3369 I understand people get confused, make mistakes, etc., but it's surprising when both contestants miss an easier one. When it's easier than this, usually only one constant misses it, and they are just bad at the numbers in general.

465: (75+8+6+4)*5
509 using all numbers for fun: (10/5)*3+4= 10; 50*10+9 = 509
178: 50+25+8+7 = 87; 87*2+4 = 178
Had the same method with 465.
I saw the exact same thing Rachel did for 626 in about 5 seconds. I'm amazed neither contestant saw that.
626 = 25 x (10 + 9 + 2 + 4) + 1
came out beautifully, a square number + 1 with a 1 on the board
The last numbers was one of only two I got today, so I'm kind of shocked that neither contestant got it.
I didn't make the first number in time, but I got the rest in one second flat for each round.
6:33 and that is the way I found as well!
1. (25+6)x75/5=465 or (75x8)-(25+6-4)x5=465
2. Ezzzzzzzzz
3. 25x7+5-2=178 or (7+50/25)x4x5-2=178
4. (2+4+9+10)x25+1 or (25+10)x2x9-4=626
465:
75 * 6 =450
8 * 5 / 4 =10
450 + 25 - 10 =465
25 + 6 =31
75 * 31 / 5 =465
25 - 8 - 4 =13
13 * 6 * 5 =390
390 + 75 =465
465 = 5 x (75 + 8 + 6 + 4)
509 = 9 x (50 + 5) + 10 + 4...ignoring the obvious one
626 = 25 x (10 + 9 + 2 + 4) + 1
626:
10 + 9 + 4 + 2 =25
25 * 25 =625
625 + 1 =626
10 * 2 =20
20 + 9 - 4 =25
25 * 25 =625
625 + 1 =626
25 + 10 =35
35 * 9 * 2 =630
630 - 4 =626
465=75/5×(25+6)=6×75+25-8/4×5
178:
50 + 25 =75
75 * 2 =150
7 * 4 =28
150 + 28 =178
7 * 5 =35
50 + 35 + 4 =89
89 * 2 =178
50 - 5 =45
45 * 4 =180
180 - 2 =178
one way to get 178: 4:06
7 x 5 = 35
35 + 50 + 4 = 89
89 x 2 = 178
465 = (25 + 6) x 75/5
75 x 6 = 450
8 x 5 = 40 - 25 = 15
450 + 15 = 465
465=25*(8+6+4)+75/5
178=4×50-25+5-2
178=2×(50+25)+4×7
509=10×50+9
urmm...
(75+8+4+6)x5
too easy
Did it the same way. People are too focused on multiplying large numbers. They miss the easy solutions.
(25+6)x(75:5)
626=25×(10+9+4+2)+1
the only way to get 626 is what Rachel did it.... 6:28
It was so obvious that I was amazed they both missed it. Most people would just solve 625=25*X first. The X being 25 was easy to construct with the remaining numbers, and it conveniently left a 1.

There is another (admittedly similar) way to 626: 10*2+9-4 = 25; 25*25+1 = 626

50 * 10 + 9 = 509 #
