  • A Camino highlight for sure. Today I felt turned completely inside out. As though my inner emotions were worn as my jacket and pants and my physical being was small but powerful. I can’t even explain it. There was beauty throughout the entire walk. A proper hike. Through mountains and forest terrain and the colours were splendiferous. If that’s not a word then it should be? I unloaded my deepest personal burdens and felt a release like I other. I paid tribute to my children. And I laughed... Liz (not of Australia, South Africa!) was the perfect friend to accompany me on my personal journey. She offered a compassionate sleeve and hug when I needed it, and she too released her inner baggage in the form of tiny beans. The day was emotionally taxing but rewarding. Physically, the challenge of navigating the steep slopes downward for a solid 3 hours was painful (mainly on my knee). But we soldiered through it and rested our bones in Molinaseca... where we found shelter for 20 euro each. This hotel was all kitted out with a balcony and sheets, real towels and we had our own bathroom. Living large, I tell you!!!

Hi Sam, I came across your camino videos, started in day 20, while looking for reference and tips for the camino. Your journey has been very eye opening and inspiring. Today was definitely an emotional time for me.
I'm planning my first camino and hope I too can unload a few burdens of my own. On a side note, do you remember where you stayed in Molinaseca? I'm so concern I won't be able to keep up with the hostel race, and not be able to get a good night sleep that I've decided is probably best if I reserve ahead of time. Appreciate all the help you can give me. Thank you.

Hi again, Jacqueline. I don't remember the name of the place there! But we found it on booking.com. There are quite a few lovely little places with a reasonable price tag. I took a quick peak and tried to find the one I was in. Unfortunately my memory has faded! But I hear you. The occasional sanctuary of a private room for myself or some of my new Camino friends and I made all the difference in the world. I am wayyyyy too light a sleeper. Super excited for you and best of luck unloading those burdens. The road you'll walk will bring you so much. xx

Ooookay....I made it through your videos up till now without crying, but the dedication to your children made me break down. A wonderful moment that your children will treasure forever. Well done.
