What Prof. Halwathura point out from 14.10 to 16.45 seems very important that all the authorities concerned with higher education must think of.
An excellent intellectually valued discussion. I am not a highly educated "paper qualified " person. But according to my observation I think srilanka needs to improve
1.thinking patterns and attitudes of the society
2.effective reforms on whole education system
Nowadays many young blood leaving County for their future..but still people like Prof.Halwature are planning to rebuild srilanka. Everyone can't leave the country. Because western only absorb the intellectually valued srilankans to develop their country. I strongly believe that through innovative intentions we can maximise the GDP. Prof.'s longsighted patriotic intellectual service is highly admirable.we need citizens like this. No matter who leaves the country that's their independence. But still we have the potential to erect the country again. It seems that Prof. Is in the right process and the right direction. Best wishes from italy 🇮🇹

In Sri Lanka, Professorship is basically offered to people being in numerous committees, so called national contribution. If you check the research profiles of many professors their contributions research is negligible. In other countries, professorship is given to people with good teaching credentials and research profiles.
