Hello everyone thanks for lending me your eyes and ears and watching my video! I've just released a new track titled 'Golden Days' which I'd love for you to listen to! Here's a link to the song for those that would like to lend me their ears one more time x www.linktr.ee/chrisbrainmusic
No idea how this got into my YT feed, but seeing you here takes me back to Hastings, c1971-3 where JM was living when he wrote this song... I recall every other long-haired young hippy guy at the time seemed to have a guitar strapped to his back and a repertoire including Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, Bert Jansch and more... One night we all crowded into an upstairs room in a pub in the Old Town to hear John run through his 'new' album, Solid Air, prior to taking it on tour. An unforgettable evening. I really enjoyed your rendition and am so happy to see this gentle musical tradition may not have completely disappeared in my beloved homeland...
Absolutely lovely playing and what a smooth voice. I happened upon your videos, seeing your name mentioned in a comment. I’m thankful for RUclips allowing me to listen to your playing and singing from across the ocean 🌊
@@ChrisBrainMusic I've kinda been obsessed with this song for a few years now. I searched the internet for a video of John Martyn playing it live but no luck. There are lots of covers, some bad some good but none that really sound like J M. except you. I like you even got the mando part in there too. Also I like the little blues lic you play at the end of the chorus. Your voice is very cool to and fits very nicely for this song. Well done . Are you playing in DADGAD?
Your great. Just found you the other day you manage to nail the drake/martyn/pentangle stuff but also make it your own. I wish you all the best in your music. Keep representing this beautiful stuff.
Because of you and a few others I finally took a listen to Nick Drake's stuff and I've since listened to the Pink Moon album easily over 30 times in the last couple of weeks. Either way keep up the music original and otherwise, also it's kind of uncanny how similar your style is to Nick's at least in a few songs.
Just found your channel and listened to your album! Really loved it! From Nick Drake to John Martyn your influences are clear but still you have your own style!
This is the best cover I’ve found so far Nobody else’s guitar work is worthy They play this terrible, watered down version which thinks the entire song is the vocals Very well done!
I like that song of wild dafty Martyn and hard to believe it took him only 38 years to go from writing it to being skint, evicted and into an early grave through years of booze and drug which makes we wonder if he was quite possibly a Moth in an earlier life. Is that standard tuning pal ?. Might learn it myself for some fowkie Open Mic thingymajig. Also when I was living around High Wycombe & Reading you would see a lot of Kites that are beautiful to watch and not a bird you see a lot in Scottyland. Also cudos for making the effort to go sit in a field and record as its easy to feel a bit daft doing so when it would have been easier to just record this in the hoose. You take care Jimmy

Nice to hear a cover of one of the late JM songs. A much missed artist.
What a beautiful rendition, I adore John Martyn x
Great rendition, well done.
The hill in Over the Hill refers to West Hill in Hastings where John lived when he wrote this song.
Absolutely stunning rendition! Keep it up 👌🏻 a fan from Portugal 🇵🇹 btw: what a lovely guitar and great tone 🙌🏻
Beautiful cover
Wow, an excellent performance.
John would be truly proud of you mate!
Great song, haven't heard it for 20 years and wanted to hear as I'm going home to Scotland next month, first time for 7 years.
It’s a bloomin great song! Enjoy your trip to Scotland x

You have a very fine vocal tone in this... excellent cover
There don't seem to be any good tabs out there for this, so for anyone trying to figure it out, this version at least is in Open D.
That’s true it is in open D, I just made it up, not quite true to what John does but it feels nice to me x
@@ChrisBrainMusic your guitar work and new arrangements over this kind of songs are glorious, simply wonderful!
Freaking great 👍👍👍💯
Super ! One of the two best covers of Over The Hill with the cover of Siobhan Wilson '

Would love to hear a cover of 'Poor Man's Son' by Kris Drever
Beautiful- I love this - I am trying to play this but realise it may not be in standard tuning. Can you say what the tuning is?
Great stuff. What is the tuning? Thank you.
Hi. Brilliant. Is that open d or dadgad?
Awesome cover. Is this recorded live straight from mic to speaker? Sounds really crisp and nice.
Yes it is, thanks very much x

Hello. I love this cover. Very well done. Would love to learn the tuning you used for this?
It is Open D tuning, so DADF#AD x
Awesome! Love the chilled vibe and slight melodic variations in there - and beautifully sung! What tuning are you using there?
Thanks Steve! I try my best. It's in Open D, it's doing all the work for me really ha. All the best x

pretty good mate. but needs to be a bit faster, a bit more on the edge, a bit more barcley huntish
Not for me, I like the pacing. No harm in doing it your own way
@@ChrisBrainMusic cracking version no doubt, but I'd sneak the tempo up a notch if I was jamming with you
