The 📧 Email Of The Week 📧 is from a listener who is fed up with her significant other who is financially inept. He is educated, but lacks ambition and hasn’t been able to hold a job down for the last five years. His excuse is that he finds that the jobs that are available to him or beneath him. She has lost sexual attraction to him and his overall disgusted by his entitlement and laziness… What advice would you lend to her???
Gia really should be a therapist or counselor. She is really good at listening and dissecting issues and providing good resolutions. Love the podcast!!!
Now Envy, there is no way that you would be supportive of any of your daughters “holding down” a man who has no job, pays no bills, but yet can afford to pay the mother of his children’s rent for the last 5 years. On top of that, not pulling his weight around the house, leaving them to be the bread winner and home maker. HELL NO! Stop bsing this lady by telling her she has “80%” NO! What she has is another child and another mouth to feed. Boy boy would have to GO! Goodbye!
Gia should go to school and get a degree in Christian Counseling. She would be a great question asker and I could see her opening up her own practice!

I will absolutely invite my dad to my wedding but he may not walk me because he stopped raising me after my parents’ divorce, so how can you give me away? I’m barely yours to give. If my dad said he wouldn’t come to my wedding because he isn’t walking me, our relationship would go from estranged to deaded.

I feel like Envy is full of it with the advice he gave for the email of the week. I think the writer needs to give her man a time frame to shit or get off the pot. If he doesn’t start contributing he gotta go. I’m not giving an able bodied grown man a free ride for 5yrs. Men who value providing don’t even feel okay doing that, let alone for 5yrs. It’s giving me, once he gets on his feet he’ll find someone new who never experienced his bum phase.

I totally agree with Envy. I wouldn’t miss major moments in my love ones lives bc we are beefing. That’s a mature way of thinking, Envy. That’s a huge moment. And she may walk down alone. He never said another man was walking her down the aisle.A lot of brides are doing that instead of having someone walking down the aisle.

I'm an example of one who walked his sister down the isle and our father still attended her wedding.....wouldn't know what it felt like or feels like but I think as fathers we can't judge ourselves for the moves/mistakes they made and expect everything to be respectful when things don't go their way #IfThisMadeAnySense #3rdPOV........

I am love your family dynamic and how hard you go for them. Your wife is special communicator and the your insight is rough sometimes, but spot on. Total respect and love this podcast. My father didnt walk me down the aisle… it had nothing to do with anything. I adored my father and he did everything right. I simply felt that I wanted both my parents to walk together in front of me. Also I gave myself to my husband, the symbolism of that is antiquated

I don’t know if I believe Gia when she says her kid can be disowned. She was able to forgive Envy and keep him in her life. Yeah it was a process and yeah God was involved but that same process and God can be involved in restoring any relationship. If she is/was willing for a man when there are a million men in the world surely she would for one of her children.

Unfortunately if you have allowed someone to "sit" for 5 years, rarely are they in a mindset of appreciation. If she gives him a time frame now to "bleep or get off the pot", he could very well turn resentful & violent. She might need to be a little more strategic than that.
I know y’all busy with businesses and 6 kids but Geesh… commit to 1 podcast a month, 1 bi weekly or one every other month, but please give us consistency……….. we deserve it! Signed a faithful listener and supporter 🙃

I remember that Kirk Franklin episode when you all talked about it and I see how Envy opinion has changed. He went from hard and no that’s unforgivable to, well maybe I need to look at the picture that at a certain age and mindset people act a fool…the pandemic and changes in life will make your hard thoughts soften…it has done it for me too.

Funny how Reshawn is bringing in millions and super ambitious, yet having this guy's back. I respect it.....but agree with Gia and all her points. It's one thing to go through this for a little bit but 5 years to have your women paying the bills. Ye, you pay your ex's and kids but in 5 years you have to figure it out and bring something to the table for your current woman too. This is not an agreement of a house husband which can work. This is something that bothers her and she's told him repeatedly and he's not willing to change.

The part about the email that gets me is he thinks low paying jobs are beneath him, but not having a job at all isn’t🙃??? That makes no sense. Entry level jobs are embarrassing but living off of your girlfriend isn’t??? And then on top of that he can’t even cook and do the dishes consistently??? And then on top of THAT he expects her to WANT to sleep with him??? No worthy person would be happy and comfortable contributing absolutely nothing to their relationship. If he’s going to choose not to work that’s fine, but he should WANT to have the house clean and dinner on the table everyday. Because when you love someone you want to add equal or more value to their life than they do to yours. For real for real he should be waking up before her and have breakfast and a packed lunch waiting for her everyday too. To contribute absolutely nothing is crazy to me. Like theres no way around it in my opinion he’s just a user, and he knows he can get away with it because all he has to say is “I don’t have anywhere to go”...why not go live with your ex and your kids? You would think someone’s response to there girlfriend saying I want to break up is “no what can I do to earn your love back” not “I’ll be homeless” that alone lets you know he’s in it just for a place to stay. He doesn’t even care that she’s not in love anymore cause thats not what he’s even with her for.

Regarding email: She need to tell him her concerns and it must include financial contributions. Stop pushing the narrative of being an independent single woman mantra. Be a business woman, with him contributing you can save money for your children or yourself.

Wow. I never thought I would be saying this but I feel Envy had the more insightful and mature response to the first question. His response was just beautiful. Envy is right, at the end of the day that's your daughter. And here is the thing....I understand why Kirk Franklin's son aired him out in public. Gia you might be a parent who tries her best to be a good parent, but for all we know, Kirk Franklin could have molested the boy (which I strongly feel could be a possibility in this case). Kirk also could have abandoned the son. This could be years of his son trying to reach out and his dad rejecting him. That could be how Kirk talks to him on the regular. So I feel that his son could just be trying a last resort, a call for help. Kirk being a pastor..it's understandable if he did his son really wrong in his life, his son might want to unveil the hypocrisy of the church. I think there's something deeper and darker running through that relationship. So honestly, in that case I don't think Gia can judge that, because she can't even relate to abusing her child. And Envy is right, when kids are hurt, they react strongly and wrongly. Especially when they were brought up in a bad environment and never learned how to deal with their emotions. Plus his son has been on drugs. Like I said, he has implied that Kirk molested him, so that's a unique situation, allegedly. I also agree with Envy, if your kid airs you out like that, either your kid was a bad seed (and you would already know cus you raises them) or is troubled ....or you as a parent did something wrong, something that hurt your kid deeply. Anyway, that's just my opinion.
