Man, if they made one in Magnacut at 61 HRC that would be amazing. I have two of these (one for collecting and one for hard use). I typically use mine for feather sticking and wood processing for my woodstove. The edge, even batoning through knots in dried birch, holds up extemely well. Its been a fantastic bowie that's damn aesthetically pleasing to look at.
@@thermaltoyzngear3310 ,… Magnacut would be pretty cool. CPM3V would be fine also. As much as I like these knives I’m not thrilled with the sandwich steel idea. I don’t hate it but I’d prefer a solid piece of Magnacut.
Hello Tom. Ya brother, it’s like a Cold Steel Trailmaster vg-1 San mai III ,… but it’s a touch longer and thicker in the handle, plus it’s made from laminated Cobalt steel. 👍🏻🔪. Seems like a freaking Tank.
@@Huntingdonn ,… The blade edge is perfect. But, It’s the steel that’s better. The handle is better. It also has an exposed pommel and the sheath is excellent. Holding it side by side with my Trailmaster,… the Fallkniven is just a superior knife all around.
I've always wanted one of these, but I've never even seen them budge on price. retty sure it's top of the line, but no way I could afford the $700 price tag.
@@ShellShock11C , there are two versions of this knife, one is more expensive and comes with a plastic, padded carrying case & a diamond sharpening stone,… I opted for the more affordable version that is just the knife & sheath, in a cardboard box. - I used PayPal, pay in 4 installment plan to purchase this expensive knife. 🔪👍🏻
Hi Joe, nice knife mate but in reality it's just an overpriced Cold Steel Trailmaster " the Japanese version TM". Both are made in Japan by Hattori. Between $1200 and $1400 here in Australia, 😱😱😱
Hello! Yes I’ve heard that. I feel that it is a bit overpriced. - It’s my understanding that the laminated cobalt steel is a step up compared to the Cold Steel Trailmaster It’s supposed to be a noticeably superior steel for edge retention. Also the thicker handle is quite nice as well. I also prefer the exposed tang on the pommel of the knife, that is a plus, and the ultra thick leather sheath with a dangler is a big thumbs up. 👍🏻. It all comes down to the different steel used. If Cold Steel had used a laminated Cobalt Steel instead of VG-1 San Mai III, and had some of Fallkniven’s better design features, then their Trailmaster would have been just as good. But because they tried to keep the price down they had to cut corners on a few key components: lower quality steel. - a cheaper sheath.- and a thinner handle with no exposed tang for hammering. So even though they are made by the same company,… there is noticeable differences between them. Is it worth the extra money? Maybe. 🤔.
You are looking at a full convex compared to a flat grind with a secondary bevel. It's worlds appart for an experienced bushman! The handle material on the MD is indestructible. It's bullet proof. You can't shoot it off of the knife 😅 Plus the sheath for the trailmaster is ridiculous. It dull the knife. Jeezy man. You can't possibly compare the two.
@JoeDoomsday I have both and I'd pick the trailmaster VG1 as the performance is about the same in real world use. The VG1 is actually the better chopper since it's more forward heavy and tip is more reinforced. That being said, the VG-1 trailmasters are no longer made by Hattori in Japan and instead made in Taiwan. The quality difference between the two makers is extremely different (the Hattori made Trailmasters being head over heals superior in every way and having a full convex as opposed the Taiwanese models having a secondary convex and terrible fit/finish). I'm really saddened that the TMs are no longer made in Japan, but it is what it is. The only Hattori made blades you can get now that are readily available are Fallknivens.

Now this is top shelf cutlery right there joe. Congratulations my friend
Thanx Donavan! It is Awesome. One of my New Favorites. 🔪👍🏻
Damm that is a freaking beast
Yes it is! It’s like a Cold Steel Trailmaster on Steroids! 😝 😂
Man that is a Awsome blade didn't even know they made a bowie

Looks like they might have improved the cold steel trail master
@@darrenfauteux5645 ,… Yes. Absolutely. I still love the Trailmaster though
It's definitely improved with that full convex edge, against a flat grind with a secondary bevel.

@HuntingdonnThe San Mai Trail Master is convex edged.
Monster Knife !! nice 🌲👻
Video so nice I watched it twice! 🎉

I want one but I don’t need one 😂
It’s a lovely looking blade 😊
