I hope I catch 1 Omilu in my life....The blue spots are cool! I have my dad's home made Ulua pole that my Uncle (his brother-in-law, I got my middle name after him "Takeo") made for my dad, then refurbushed in the 70's, (we used it to pick mango's) My dad didn't have the patience for fishing. He passed 9 years ago and I want to catch a Papio or Ulua in his memory. I need to learn how to cast a conventional reel, (I always used a Spinning Reel). I am learning a lot from you, thanks!
I just solved my slide bait rig. Mahalos kid keep up with the great videos.
Love it! Lot of catch!
What oz lead u casting with Tako? Mahalos 🤙🏼
Thats called a Molokai Slide. Thats ol school. When never have slide rigs back in da dayz
Nice Omilu! Try giving the fish some more slack since the lead isn't fully lodged in the rocks yet. They'll probably unstuck themselves. FYI, that Molokai slide will only work in steep terrain. On sandy beaches, the angle is too shallow and the bait will be suspended above the water (unless it's a darn heavy bait!). I use the opposite from this on sandy beaches. I have the lead on the freely moving swivel and my hookline on the tag swivel. I usually set my drag loose because when the fish takes the bait, the lead stays in place but the hooked fish can run, and won't feel the hook immediately. This is known as the fish-finder rig, and the leadline is shorter than my hookline because it'll tangle eventually (Never use wire lead in this rig). Very aerodynamic rig too.
Appreciate it🤙. Mahalo for the tips!
On the Moloka’i slide rig could you tie up a bigger hook with a live bait like kupepe?
That was one nice fish have a great day
Brah
Solid Episode,
Looks like hunters knots at the end😂
🤣🤣🤣
solid!
Nice Omilu at the end there!
👍🏽👍🏽
Interesting setup with the swivel through the main line!!
Old school...molokai slide...when way back in the days never have slide rigs for live bait.
Wahanui! I thought the same first time I got one it’s like a large mouth bass lol nice omilu 👍🏻
Thats how they use to throw live bait. The bait floats it the air while the lead flies. Old school slide b4 most people born 😂
Here’s an odd question?? Maybe.
Is it possible to slide bait not using conventional??
I have a twin power 8k spooled with 50# braid and a 12’ Speed Master rod.
Yes bro can, just no go over kill on the size of the hook
@@hiapoelisaga9226 Mahalo. Can’t wait to try slide 🤙🏽
Where do you catch oama?
If I ever meet you I want to go fishing with you

Thanks bruh , always watching your episodes , you give great positive tutorials on how to shore fish on the Islands , your set up and tackle are a bit different from here in Monterey California area 🌊 , 🤙🏻
Content in awesome
Respect bruh , Mahalo
Appreciate it! Thank you for watching 🤙
Action
Hiiii
No show to much bro! It took years and years hard work and dedication for people to learn that rig not something taught on RUclips! It's always good to teach but some tricks should stay in the bag and taught in person to people who deserve and put in the work to know
Chill out brah! Nothing wrong with showing the rig he used. I’m sure there’s tons of fishermen out there who learned their rigs, knots, techniques from uncles, watching RUclips videos, experimenting. That’s how knowledge is shared otherwise fishing would be a dying art
@wannaBfishing, braddah, das no secret rig. Ole skoo dat set up. @saltwatershawaii, braddah jus do wat u do. Like Jesus said: “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” Das wat aloha is all about. Some ppl took years and years of dedication, some got knowledge passed down from family, some learn from frenz, some from da internet, social media, etc. Solid braddahs an sistahs goin always help and teach. An den u get da clowns who think everything should be kept secret🤣. Keep da lines tight. Aloha 🤙🏾
@@Kauaiboys790 a dying art there are more fisherman then there ever was you ever talk to a real OG yeah you should pass knowledge down but to people who hustle and put in the work for it no free hand outs wanna learn hit the rocks not no couch fisherman learn everything from RUclips 🤣
@@slyguy5734 shit should be earned real fisherman earned there stripes and skills ! Not learned off RUclips it's the hustle and work you put in RUclips fisherman don't know anything bout etiquette but they somehow know all these rigs? Gotta crawl before you walk ! No free handouts
@@wannabfishing5631 learning rigs by watching RUclips videos doesn’t make it any easier to catch fish 🤷♂️ still gotta hustle
