my dad has an android so we don’t get his old phones and my older brother pays for his… but when my mom gets a new phone, i get her old one, my sister gets my old phone, and my brother gets my sisters old phone LOL

Can confirm as an Asian. But for us it’s every two years… My mom gets the first-hand (brandnew) then passes her previous phone to whoever has the most obsolete phone. This year it was me, I upgraded from an iPhone 6s Plus to an iPhone 13 Pro and my mom got the 15 pro.
Next next year our eldest sister is getting the upgrade, from an X to 15 Pro… and Next Next year after that, our middle child sister, from an 11 Pro to whatever phone. And Next Next Year after that, me again (the youngest and only brother)

Whenever I buy new phone, I will give my old phone to my family.
Goodluck to every family members of yours.. Cause android has a shorter life than iOS.. Android has 2-3 years of android updates while iOS has 6-7 years. Even the iPhone X that came out in 2017 is still supported, while the s9 which came out in 2018 is stuck at android 10.. Forever.

Also, all Google services work with Android 5 and up, only a few demanding games require Android 7 and up.
Android 10 is still perfectly usable, and no problem with it.

This same thing used to happen to me when my daughter was married to my Korean son in law who was a software engineer. He always get the most updated phone and then give the one he had to my daughter and then my daughter would give me the one that she had. But then it turned out he was gay and they got divorced so now I have to buy my own phone. I actually have a newer phone than she does because she doesn’t seem to really care how updated her phone is. I just always am looking for a better camera to take pictures of the moon. I just want a camera on a phone to take a picture of the moon the way it actually looks with my own eyes or better.
