Therapy is extremely helpful even to those who don't have emotional trauma, mental disorders, mental illness, disabilities, etc. because even the most neurotypical, mentally stable, healthy individuals, need help in ways they don't know how to address, but a therapist will.
      I personally suggest anyone get a therapist of they feel like they need help in dealing with someone in their lives. Whether that be things like stress eating, breakups, deaths in the family, a target for bullying, bad grades, SA or harassment, physical, emotional, or sexual abuse, near death experiences, major life changes (moving out, new school, new partner, new country, etc.) or unhealthy or unproductive coping mechanisms (tobacco, alcohol, marijuana, nicotine, abusing prescription meds, self harm, hurting others, porn addiction, etc.) or if you have diagnosed problems things like a depressive disorder, anxiety disorder, emotional disorders, and anything like that. ANYBODY can benefit from therapy, and if you can afford it and put aside time to do it, I highly encourage you and anyone else to try it out.

      I'm glad I'm not the only one who notices that. Every time a guy refers to women as "females" is definitely something red flag. It shows they don't really see them as people but rather as just things. Like when you talk about animals, you often refer to them as males or females. You don't often hear them called girls or boys, or men and women, unless the person saying that, really cares about the animal, like a pet dog or cat. To just call someone a male or female takes away from their individuality and significance.
      Obviously female is synonymous with girl, or woman, but the context in which the word "female" is used is often much more degrading and dehumanizing compared to when the words "woman" or "girl" are used.

DM FULLY admitted his mistakes and even showed full awareness of where they came from and what his issues are, and sincerely asked how to make amends for his actions. When they said "yeah that's shitty but it still doesn't excuse your behaviour" it would have been SO EASY for him to feel attacked, betrayed, like he had made that effort to be vulnerable and open up about his issues that he clearly tried very hard to hide and bury, and they were just throwing it all in his face. But he didn't allow himself to feel that way, he was mature and accepted their criticism and took responsability for his actions.
    I have high hopes that all of the people involved in this story will come out closer and happier. Therapy definitely sounds like a good move, but he has to go into it willing to make the effort on his end. I hope everyone heals from this :)

    Requiring that someone go to therapy in order to earn trust and keep a friendship is kind of a garbage move. Not everyone can afford therapy. Maybe if you offer a sincere apology and actually take intentional steps to not cause offense again and your friend still requires you to go to therapy in order to stay friends, they're not actually your friend.

  • @KagemaruHitokiri
    @KagemaruHitokiri Год назад +9

    Credit where it's due, OP held on because she wanted to stay with her friends but didn't let the DM walk all over her. And while he was being a meathead, the DM did confront the fact that he did something very wrong, and laid his cards on the table about his own issues, which takes courage. He understood that he broke trust with everyone and needs to make it up to them, and that an apology is going to need more than just saying "sorry."
    It's the kind of sad story that leaves room for hoping everyone comes out fine, even the antagonist

    That high school seniors dating freshmen shit is gross. Crazy how accepted the practice is. Especially considering how many of those seniors are 18 and how many of those freshman are 14... Every year some of the popular senior guys purposely pick up some of the good looking freshman girls as a sort of "new blood" or "fresh meat" kind of thing. Completely accepted. Faculty and other adults look the other way. But if a 18 year old who has already graduated high school and is say working at Wal-Mart... If he picked up a 14 year old hed get locked up and thise same people would call him a pedo. Makes no sense.

Two people at vastly different stages of self sufficiency & life experience is also problematic, for example an 18 year old & a 35 year old, the power dynamic here is extremely lopsided.
