I truly believe that in the last 10 years or so, people whom are attending higher education, they are dumber than when they were in high school.
Seriously, I had a discussion yesterday with two colleagues and it's incredible of the type of writings, which must be referred to as meanderings of lunatics. That these people produce such in everything from essays, dissertations, term papers, about all of it. And, Heaven Forbid, if you ask them to give a verbal opinion. It's just nonsense rehash of what another 1/2 wit has told them to think, or what they see on television, and on the news media.

IDK if you read the books but the alliance first fought a war to reclaim Coruscant, that was told later but the first published was thrawn, so a war after endor then thrawn then Luke claims the yavin IV base as the new jedi temple, has some growing pains, even almost loses one of his students to the dark side but get's em back, and slowly the jedi retake their place not as warriors but as mediators, advisors, of fountains of wisdom and compassion then way after a terrible war comes and affects all it touches but this time the war came from outside, from outside the republic, the remnant empire or any other faction
the point, Luke became a hero on many levels, redeemed Anakin before he died, restored the jedi, helped restore the rep[ublic, gave back to the republic and served it's interests and had no choice but to fight another war and they won at great cost but in the end Luke was the hero....
old canon is all there is....nothing new is done in good faith or for the fans

I don't understand why people are putting themselves in positions to do things they are simply bad at. (This interviewer, that pilot, and now that I think about it the current Hollywood writers..) Imagine being an interviewer, having an interview with musk, and not taking it seriously. Just read a new book about the Twilight Zone disaster when Vic Morrow and two children were killed by a helicopter while shooting the film.
Kathleen Kennedy was Frank Marshall's girlfriend at the time. Marshall was Spielberg's producer and then Kennedy became one too.
She and Marshall, who were there the night the tragedy happened (Kennedy left before the chopper crash), lived as fugitives for five years to avoid any connection to the trial.
Marshall literally escaped but Kennedy was detained by INTERPOL in Spain deep into the trial. They ended up letting her go since the prosecution was such a clown show by that point that they just let her go.
The book is called Fly By Night by Steve Chain.
And, horribly enough, it includes photos from the accident scene. Very graphic photos.

There’s a good video out there about how Disney’s toxic princess culture killed marvel & Star Wars. The creator makes some good points, but ultimately this is feminism playing out in art form. The replacement, belittling, & demonizing of male characters is what feminism does with men politically & economically. It’s happening throughout western culture & has created chaos in the middle class to the joy of the 1%.

So instead they used their exclusive IP rights to tell the fans WHO WROTE IT that it is no longer canon. You know just decades worth of multimedia material. RIPE FOR ADAPTION. But no. Our original content can’t spread our “message” without piggybacking off of beloved IPs.

I studied game design in Germany, and it's a situation comparable to what you discussed about journalism. It's a big circle jerk where everyone compliments each other and pushes their established opinions without taking a neutral point of view. For example, one of my upperclassmen created an Eldritch horror game, and the main takeaway from the professor's critique was that Eldritch horror equals H.P. Lovecraft, which equals racism. Therefore, they said the game needed to address inclusion to counter that.
    Addition:
What Hollywood, or rather the whole film industry, doesn't understand is that narration in games often comes from the passive narration of gameplay, meaning that the player/user interacts with the medium. A great example of this is 'The Last of Us,' where one of the big gameplay narrative points is resource shortage, which is displayed quite well in the beginning of the series where Joel tries to get a battery for a car. But in, I think it was episode three, he has access to a whole arsenal of weapons and he only picks one bolt-action rifle. The explanation for that is that he used one in the game, so he has to use one in the series. Logically, he could have taken a whole bunch of weapons on the truck bed, considering the type of enemy he would likely encounter, either armed people where a fast-shooting AR would be helpful, or a crowd of densely packed infected where a shotgun is a good weapon to pick. The game has the passive narration that ammunition and maintenance equipment is rare, so you have to choose wisely, but the series abandoned this shortage and ignored the fact, which is a logical error. There are more things that make 'The Last of Us' a bad series, but the main point I want to convey is that gameplay is a narrative point you need to address and work around in a more restricted medium like film. I don't say that it is not possible, in fact, 'The Last of Us' manages to stage the first encounter with a clicker really closely to the actual game, but a few episodes later, they ditch this menacing appearance of the infected by throwing a whole army of them on screen and letting every important character escape unharmed by just running right through them

ANYTHING whatsoever to do with the OT. That's my major takeaway from the entire Disney SW era: we will avoid having anything to do with precisely those characters we would need to make an actual continuation. The ideologues are sticking to this to try to vindicate the sequels at any cost, and Filoni is going along because the creative vacuum allows him to shove all his Clone Wars characters into the present timeline because the OT characters have all been vetoed by corporate.

I think Disney lost a staggering amount of money on Quantumania. After a 50% cut for theaters, the movie only made $235m for Disney worldwide. The preproduction and filming budget was $193.5m but that doesn't count the CGI costs or the marketing costs. Considering that post production lasted three times as long as actual filming and that they bought a superbowl commercial to market this movie I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that the total budget for this was around $600m. So at the end of the day Disney may have just lost some ~$350 MILLION on Quantumania....that's insane

Maybe if they'd stop humping one single genre for over a decade at a time they wouldn't need to suffer a crash.
Back when Superhero movies were a once every few years thing, they did very well for themselves, on smaller budgets too. My favorite Superhero movies basically predate the MCU entirely. Blade, Raimi's Spider Man, Jane's Punsiher. Batman Begins. Darkman. Notice how each one of these movies is at least two years, if not more, seperated from each other? (The exception being Jane's Punisher to Batman Begins, seperated only by a year.)
The problem is they just have made too many of these things. They lack all the novelty and the excitement. They're not special events. We used to have family dramas, romantic comedies, science fiction, a super hero movie, some weird art film... This mixture. You could go to the movies and mull over what you wanted to see. I remember looking int he news paper with my dad at coming attractions. That hasn't even been a functional possibility for well over a decade, maybe even two at this point. You'd have to go back a long way before that, even online, was something you could do with any genuine truth. To me that's the biggest loss of entertainment. There's a lack of choice in quality content on the top end. If you want movies along those lines, oh, they get made... At a very low budget, and they're almost never any good.

Thing about Dave Filoni is he kind of just does whatever with Star Wars. The Clone Wars series was originally supposed to have been a continuation of the 2003 Genndy Tartakovsky micro series and you can even see the ground work of that with the character designs being CGI versions of the 2D designs, but at some point the team just went on to do its own thing apparently on their own.
If you ever watch the behind the scenes segments of clone wars there is a lot of “well it was written this way in the source material, but we really wanted to put a joke or reference in here.” The first season episode about Grievous has a huge segment of Filoni taking about how the character was a extremely successful warlord waging a war against a slaver race in the good graces of the republic to then be horribly injured in a plot by Dooku. They then retconned him to be some big game hunter that just slapped cyborg parts on himself so he could hunt Jedi not for some deep hatred, but because he like to hunt Jedi.
