As an actor, I don't know lenses, but I can appreciate all the work that goes into a FILM JAMS video. It is my goal to someday have a featured part in a FJ video and get to keep one of those dy-no-mite T-shirts. There is a certain lady that would be impressed! Call me anytime!
Thank you for this very interesting video, I was just looking for infos about these new little lenses. (on a side note, if you want less pain while balancing the A-30, you might want to mount somewhere lower the wireless TX, that's not how you build cameras for Steadicam!)
Everything was shot wide open at T2.4. They’re very different lenses. But if you’re only on s35 these are a great option. Have u seen our video comparing the Vazen to Atlas lenses?
@@FilmJams thanks for the reply. I have and have also owned vazen anamorphics and found them terribly soft and kinda unusable until t4. Wondered if these had the same characteristic or if t2.4,3,3.5 etc were usable. I’m using a helium mostly now but 8k of soft is still soft. I understand anamorphics are typically softer but hoping these are sharper. Thanks
@@digitalfire3871 oh nice! Yeah the Vazen are definitely soft. I think these might be a little sharper. I haven’t compared them side by side yet tho. They were definitely sharper than I was expecting.
I like the fact that Chelsea didn't drop her guard when she did that kick to the head. Too many drop their guard and its bad form, not to mention opens you up for a counterstrike. Looks like you had fun making this, so kudo's for turning a lens review into a short. I'm almost sold on the amber flares as i do like a good sunrise / sunset and i think the amber flares would work well with either. I have heard that laowa do a silver or neutral flare which could be the best of both worlds as you could add a streak filter of choice or do something in post perhaps.
Thanks for checking out the video! We did have some fun making it :) and yes the silver flares seem like a good option. When I got the amber they hadn’t released the Silvers yet. I’d like to try them….tho I’m already 2 lenses deep now into the Amber!
Thanks for watching! Yes they also come in blue flare as well. I already have blue on my Atlas lenses so opted for the amber flares on the Laowa to have a different look.
@@FilmJams Thanks brother. Yeah, happy to be back! I was busy making some videos for my channel and life- you know, but always a joy checking your content 🤟👏🙏
My Atlas Orions have the blue flares so I am going with amber on these. Not too many anamorphics have Amber flares in this price range so I think that’s a selling point for me. Just depends on what you like 😆🎥👍
Just how the different sensors process the highlights. I preferred the more natural look of the Komodo flares as I think it has better highlight rolloff, but to each their own!
flares looks so digitaly, lens looks oversharped even t2.4, bokeh is also weird, its not regular also isnt oval. very hard to consider that lenses as a real anamorphics
I believe the Nanomorphs are one of the cheapest anamorphic options out there under $1,000. I wouldn’t expect the results of a much high end $40,000 master anamorphic lens. I think for the price, they’re a fun starter lens or for lower budget films or people that want to dabble in the anamorphic world. If you try to compare a $900 car to a $40,000 one, you’re probably not going to like $900 very much :)
@@lkptlst3256 by definition this is 100% an anamorphic lens. Is it the best anamorphic lens? No. Definition: An anamorphic lens is a lens designed with additional glass elements that squeeze the image horizontally, allowing you to capture a wider field of view than the film or digital sensor would ordinarily allow.
I hear you. We have the atlas and the Vazen. But I love these Nanomorphs for smaller shoots and when I’m doing crash cam and drone. You can’t run a Vazen as easily on drone. They each serve their purpose. Get both! :)
I love the flares this lens produces, amazing demonstration!
Thanks DK! Them flares no joke!
Love this Lens review! Very entertaining!!

It would be our honor to get you in one! Maybe end of next week or around there we should have a new episode to get you a starring role in 🎥😆👍

at what stop was that interview shot at? Trying to get a gauge on if these are sharper than the vazen at 2.4 / 2.8

I really enjoy the squeeze factor, but those orange flares are not my favourite. I rather prefer blue or neutral type flares.

Great review on this Len. Seems like a higher body count of people dying in an episode than normal lol.
Haha thanks Jai….I guess ratings are down so….you know what happens!
Great lens my friend. I love 35mm focal length 🎉. Cheers
Thanks Ruben! It’s a fun lens. Appreciate you swinging by the channel. Good to have you back! Hope all is well 😃🤙🎥

Really considering getting one of these. Some of the best flares I've seen

Would these work on a metabones speedbooster with an EF mount?
If you order the EF version they will mount on there, but these lenses are S35 coverage so they would vignette on a speed booster.
@@FilmJams The Magic Lantern on canon's eosm crops in about 3x so. But, some people say it won't work🤔
@@bryanbarajasBB on eos M? Hmm I haven’t tried that camera. Maybe reach out to Laowa directly. They’re pretty helpful.

We’re in Florida.
Laowa 35mm vs Sirui 35mm which is better?
Really depends on what aesthetic you like better. Both good options!
@@FilmJams Thank you for answer.
I heard, that Sirui uses Scott glasses inside which made in Germany.
What about Laowa glasses? Do you have any info?
I personally don’t but Kevin from Laowa is on Facebook and IG and I’m sure he could answer that for you.

It is interesting how the lens flares on the Red Kamodo feels incredibly weak. But nice and bright on the C70.
