I have just bought my wife a 2011 500 with the semi auto gearbox. I test drove it in the day and it was fine. My wife takes it out this morning (very cold) the gearbox slips into neutral. Do i need to get the dealer to fix this? Will it most likely be fixed with a oil change? Help!
if i were you i would change the oil with the maxlife ATF, make sure the level is fine. remember to warm up the car well before driving in the cold. some transmissions slip if too cold.
I just did my daughter’s 2012 500 (automatic of course) and I measured 3 quarts that came out. I added one bottle of Lubegard Platinum and the difference in Valvoline (full synthetic) Maxlife multi-vehicle transmission fluid. Valvoline has confirmed this fluid will work in the Fiat, I don’t like to take chances so I ALWAYS use LUBEGUARD anytime I do an A/T service.
Hey. Sometimes our automatic fiat 500 goes into ‘check transmission’ then doesn’t go into gear for a few mins - is this because the transmission oil needs changing? Or topping up? Thanks
i matched the orings with the old ones. i bought a oring set with 1000 units. they sell them everywhere. the oil level i measured with the fiat tool.Transmission Dipstick Compatible with Chrysler Dodge Dart Fiat 500 Jeep Cherokee Compass and Patriot with 6F24 / 948TE Transmissions 10323A. I filled exactly what i removed. and the level was perfect.
@@thefiathospital great vıdeö. to get the correct level does the draın plug self level vıa the small center bolt wıth a hole, tube runnıng through the mıddle of draın plug?
Ok so my 2014 Fiat 500L has the dual transmission, I often get error messages that Manual mode not available, I'm still seeking answer to that problem. I've been adding fluid to the reserves but it seems to be full, yet I'm still getting error messages it needs fluid. the other problem is the error message will go away then return later, I took it to Melloy Dodge in Albuquerque to run transmission test, but they said they found nothing, which cost me 200 bucks plus, it was a rip off because the problem continues. I'd like to know what you think. as soon as I find the drain and filler, I'll let you know.
the 500L has a different transmission. it is a dual clutch not a true automatic. that transmission is different from the one i showed here. your transmission usually burns out because people drive it like an automatic. while it is a manual transmission with automatic shifting.
@@georgecampuzano7920, yes, you’re right. Actually, transmission contains about 6.5- 7 quarts. But whenever we drain out, it’s only about 3 quarts and all of the rest still in converter. It’s could not come out in one time… you must fill in, run engine and repeat second or third time.
Just a little info on the "lifetime" they mean lifetime of the warranty. I learned this being employed at a dealership. Just a little tidbit of info on the whole lifetime bs
Filling 3 quarts it's ok?

check the oil level. change the oil before you replace the transmission.
Hello! I'm facing the same problem after refilling the ATF reservoir.
@@arbarof there is no reservoir for the automatic transmission. it is a sealed unit.
@@arbarofhow did you solve your problem?
@thefiathospital how do you refill it?
do you have have the size of the 3 ORings that you replaced? how did you check the proper oil level after the refill? Thanks

Measure what you take out and add back the same amount
As I understand the 2nd drain plug let's you know when it's full if it starts to over fill, then you close off the final smaller drain plug.

What TYPE OF TRANS FLUID DOES IT TAKE????????????????
No one will say but I think it uses any synthetic ATF
After the replacement do need to reset in the computer?like in the tf80 transmission?(is the same)
no need to reset anything
what are the specifications for the transmission oil?
i used the Valvoline Synthetic. This is an AISIN transmission for it s indicated. the 500 takes about 3 quarts of fluid.
I keep reading in different forums that the automatic transmission takes 6.6 qts. Does it really only take 3 qts?
@@georgecampuzano7920 on the three i did it took 3 quarts of fluid.

Hi, does it different with gearbox oil?
the AT oil is not gear oil
Hi. Is the oil 75w80 or 75w90? Thanks
this is the procedure for the automatic transmission. so it takes ATF. The oil for the manual is different
Yes my car is auto. But here in the UK is only shows 75w80 or 75w90. Can you link the correct one so I can see what it looks like. Thanks

@thefiathospital not true. If it's a FIAT 500L with a continuously variable transmission, then it takes CVT

what about changing any filters? Does it need filter changes or no?
