    A flywheel could be added to the crank handle shaft to keep it turning for a while after you stop cranking it.

      I think adding something like that would tip it over! I need to properly oil it and that will help. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    if you have a Tractor Supply near you, they sometimes have anthracite coal. You will still need some lump hardwood charcoal to get it started keep it burning

    • @gstongs
      @gstongs  2 года назад

      I used to use a fair amount of anthracite coal in the past. I will stick to charcoal for now since coal can be even messier / smokier. But for sure coal will burn hotter. Thanks.

    I took a similar little coal forge and cut it into a rolling cart. Had to extend the air pipe and make brackets to remount the blower.
    The bowl is basically the same size as most fire pots but being in the cart I can now have a huge pile of coal and make the fire above the pot.
    This allows much larger work pieces and yes it welds larger stock easily.

    • @jgclark45
      @jgclark45 2 года назад +1

      I was thinking you could use it as a fire pot also

    I'm sure those bevel gears are cast not cut so there is part of the nasty grind you are getting. Probably an aluminum impeller and has no weight to continue spinning.

    • @gstongs
      @gstongs  2 года назад +1

      Yes, you're spot on. The blower (impeller blades) is so lightweight it doesn't continue spinning. I'll get it oiled well and see if I can improve it some. Thanks for everything.
