My Neighbor, Charles Ep 156
Migrant worker from Vietnam, Hieu. He's been working in Korea for 8 years now. He was elected as the best employee at a company in Pyeongtaek and is working hard to support his family in Vietnam. Hieu visits his hometown again and throws a surprise proposal to his girlfriend, Dwi, whom he met 3 years ago and fell in love at first sight.

Shout out to the boss. A compassionate individual who makes sure his mostly foreign team is happy and comfortable ad treats them well.
This is one of the most cutest episode I love how he interacts with his collages and his family and his nephew is soo cute!! His girlfriend is soo supportive and she’s soo pretty!! I love this soo much!! Fightinggg
As a Vietnamese also living far from home right now, I feel so proud after watching this. He’s a nice a guy, working hard not just to have a better for himself but also for others around him. We need more people like him to show the good images of Vietnamese people 🇻🇳
I remember crying 5 years ago when I first watched this, and here I am again, teary eyed. I hope Hieu is doing well!
I luv people like him, not only does he motivates his coworkers, but actually cares the type of work he does it's not about the money he earns. If we had more people like him in the life/workplace people would have a more healthier attitude. It's just seems he has a healthier attitude in general about life. His family/girlfriend very blessed to have him in their lives. You can tell in his disposition that his thankful for every big or small opportunity which is something we all need to do.
Been waiting for a Vietnamese episode and now it’s here! 😊 Loved this episode so much! It really depicts how hardworking and optimistic Vietnamese people are. I am so glad that things are going well for Hieu! It’s not easy leaving your country and family like that at a young age... I have so much respect for him! He deserves EVERYTHING. Also, I loved his workplace in Korea! You can see the camaraderie, bond, and love the workers have for one another; the boss is a great man too for taking care of his employees! My fav episode this far! 😄
Honestly, it's people who started out with not much in life that works the hardest and has the best attitude at work!! I hope you make it big in your home country Hieu!
I have many Vietnamese friends and I can say that they are some of the most kind and generous people that you will ever meet. They're just really, really genuine. I don't know what it is. loll... And Hieu, you are just awesome. Thank you for contributing your hard work and friendship to South Korea. You are a credit to Vietnamese people everywhere.

I have more vietnamese friends than I do 🇰🇷 friends for some reason it just happened that way growing up here in the states and i would have to say 🇻🇳 people are by far one of the best kind of people that live on this earth hands down. And most all of their females are beautiful, their respectfull resilient and hard working people who aim to be successful while being extrmeely family oriented which usually means they grow up with an abundance of love which is why they are such genuinly loving people. They always look out for you, pack food for you, make sure your ok and money is not something they care to be frugal with when it comes to helping you out.
You're making Vietnam proud Hieu. Keep up the good work. I wanna see someone from Myanmar.

I love episodes like these - that shows the true struggles of people and inspire me to be better. I avoid episodes that are mainly to show off their 'cute/pretty' kids/wives. :p
Omg yes. I avoid the episodes with lazy unemployed white husbands who still speak broken Korean and whose only "accomplishments" are their "pretty" half-white kids. The ones with Southeast Asian, African, and Arab or Middle Eastern families who hustle hard and haul ass every day to make ends meet are the episodes that really move me. I loved the episodes of Mohammed from the Maldives farming with his rural in-laws, the Iraqi family running the kebab restaurant, the Afghan family where the ex-doctor father works as a mover, the Yemeni family where the mechanical engineer father works a hard manual labor job to support the kids who aren't even his bio-kids, the Egyptian family whose ex-politician dad works in a sink-manufacturing factory, etc.
Total win-win. He's making 12x the average salary in Vietnam, but those are tough jobs / salaries for a local Korean.
I really like their company. Their dorm is in factory compound so no need to spend money for transportation, no renting apartment( may be some fees is cut from their salary) but still comfortable.On more is their dorm's refrigerator, it is much more ingredients than normal families' refrigerator. The company take good care to their employees
Oh my gosh he's so really Hardworking and Friendly also Independent Person and I don't know why... us filipinos we always see Vietnamese as our Brothers and Sisters also Thai,Indo,Malay etc....we always together interms of Work,School,room mates etc. My Aunt her room mate is a Vietnamese and she said she's really Friendly and Hardworking too

I hope he’s living a good life now. He learned a lot of valuable, technical skills in korea like operating excavators and machines. He will be very beneficial to the growth of Vietnam. Vietnam is on track to be the next great emerging power in Asia. Coming from a Korean American.
Just a correction on Hieu's fiancee's name. KBS' spelling in the subtitles is Dwi (probably according to the Korean spelling) but I think her name is Thuy or Duy - most likely Thuy considering Thuy is a female name. Fellow Vietnamese, please correct me if I'm wrong.
Legend has it, that to this day, he's still working in the factory. And still will for the next few years.

Finally , I have been waiting for it . Don't mean to sound ungrateful but I noticed that there's alot of delay in the recent updates . Some updates for certain show was not done accordingly . I too, like the boss from what we see on the video. He is awesome! I wish I had all bosses like him. I only had a few cool ones like him before. Anyway, some food from other countries, I don’t think I could eat. I definitely don’t eat seafood. I’m a very picky eater (I love pasta & pizza and some other foods). Actually, I’m surprised I’m not a vegetarian, as if I think about where food comes from, I stop eating it. Otherwise, I like meat like some steaks, ham, cheeseburgers and sausage, etc.

Case in point: While Fabian goes on and on about missing his mother's homecooking, 석천 doesn't miss a beat by responding with his skeptical attitude: "I heard your mother doesn't cook for you at all." I don't like this bald man in every episode. What did gesture-showing his tongue mean when Hieu said that he paid off his family loan with USD 1400? I feel this disrespectful and looking down attitude toward the guest of the broadcast when I look at his some weird gestures so often in each episode.

Working harder doesn't always equate working smarter. Hieu seized the moment to lead, to learn and think strategically how he will apply his learning to make a better future for himself and his family.
