What boggles my mind is how someone figured out where all the clipping spots in the game where in the first place? Do they spend like their whole career/daily hours figuring this stuff out?

It's a lot more reasonable when you've got 1000+ worldwide doing stuff for maybe 10 hours each on average, and sharing the results.

They use programs in order to see where the game/world has a weakness or where it could ne possible to go out of bounds. But yea figuring this all out takes a while
Speedrunning has its communities. Usually its a collective effort then some legend uses all that info to make history lol.

He actually lost about 15 seconds in "easily" avoidable mistakes. That being said, this is full of easy to make mistakes that were avoided. But still I am going to be pedantic about saying not a wasted microsecond.
No microseconds wasted just months of a life needed to pull it off. Study physics, another language, or learn music theory. They probably played this game over so many times that they will be remembering it on there death bed.

@@AndrewB23 do you know that speedrunning has multiple categories? also go ahead, recreate his speedrun if its as easy as "hopping through the barrier and running through the finish line". The glitches are harder than the actual game. Its more like running a race, hopping through the barrier and having to avoid landmines, snipers and furious dogs with one leg cut off. Sure its way faster, but also way harder.

Umayr I love thinking of these speedrunners taking a quick lap around an area to try and break the game and proceed through easily lol. I love speedrunning
Bunch of players with a lot of time, run around looking for exploits, and they share with others when they find one. At least that's how I think it works.
This is now an older game, so it's not suprising that exploits have been found, but in newer released games, it could take a while.

Usually a ridiculous amount of trial and error from an extremely dedicated community. Sometimes depending on if different games use the same engine for example the Half life games, certain glitches and exploits may work in multiple different titles.

2. Why the hell does it take you six months? My first souls game took me two weeks and now when I play one I can beat it in a day. I beat bloodborne in four hours.
I finish my first run in under 40 hours
Well my first dks2 run was in 11 hours because it was so freaking easy compared to dks1. I played offline so i could see my "global deaths" (personal death count) and after killing nashandra it was on 17.
In my opinion dks2 is the easiest soyls ever, but well, its not really that bad

There's a pretty common theory that the reason entire areas are in impossible locations is because the chosen undead is following and can't remember where they actually are. I think this video proves that he was just on an insane amount of binocular/cocaine
it adds a new chapter to the story titled "if you play games for story you need to grow up."
