"When it comes to transgender people arming themselves in light of the threat of harassment or attacks from hate groups, firearm advocate Tucker Carlson is skeptical, he made clear Thursday, insisting that doing so is “not the exercise of the Second Amendment” but rather “political hysteria.”
Carlson called attention to a recent NPR interview with gay and transgender people in New England who practice shooting as a self-defense measure. He then mocked the notion of white supremacist groups in that region, because, as he put it, “every state is blue.”
“Just to be clear: We are not against people-American citizens-carrying firearms,” Carlson continued. “We support it-including trans people. It’s fine. But what you’re watching here is not the exercise of the Second Amendment. What you’re watching here is political hysteria: fear ginned up on purpose with maximum dishonesty in order to get people in a state of agitation-armed people in a state of agitation. It doesn’t matter if they are trans or not, whatever that is.”

The first wave of gun control in this country came up on us when the Black Panthers went marching out with guns on their shoulders. Black people had guns and suddenly maybe it wasn't such a great idea.
There were multiple instances of gun control before that.

Think Harder is very apt name. Cali is the largest state in the country. You don't think legislative measures there wouldn't affect national ideas, especially if they're already widely held. This was of course with old style politics at work. The first actions may have only been confined to California but you can't say that wasn't a major step for gun control issues.
And secondly, Duh, Black people had guns. Not like they used them in a major way for self defense before Malcom X and the Black Panthers started speaking about rising up. The Panthers had the teeth and claws to put it right up in the nation's face that Blacks had guns and would use them.

@SerenityByBrandon Historically and documented the real reason the 2nd Amendment was added to the Constitution was because of southern states that demanded that white landowners be given the right to own guns to protect themselves from the prospect of newly freed slaves coming on to their property.
No other country in the world has a right to bear arms, no instead every country in the world that allows it's citizens to own firearms, does so with laws and restrictions as gun ownership is a privilege everywhere in the world and like all privileges when abused they can be taken away. Which is why only the USA has daily mass shootings and only the USA can claim the shameful feat of having gun violence as the #1 leading cause of death of children and youth. Daily slaughter of little kids from gun violence means nothing to conservatives and you proved that right.

Step three- Motivate action be taken against those you fear.

Step five- Profit./benefit, directly or indirectly by the action taken by base against your enemies, and/or profit via donations.

Haystack, this begs the question : those who watch fox news are not sane? Should there be some kind of round up? An evaluation to determine if these people should be hospitalized and medicated? Put on some kind of watch list? At the very least, Fox needs to put a disclaimer at the beginning of each show saying "this program is entertainment purposes. There is no news value associated with this show."

This reminds me of something I've said. Pass a law that requires all black people to have guns and Republicans will start passing anti-gun laws. I didn't have trans people on that bingo card.

For those of you that don't know, the California law that outlaws open carry of firearms is the Mulford Act, passed by the California legislature in 1967 and signed into law by Ronald Reagan on July 26, 1967. Black Panthers had been conducting armed patrols of Oakland neighborhoods; if the cops stopped and questioned them, they would quote chapter and verse of the California code that legalized open carry of firearms. Of course, white society was horrified by the idea of Black people carrying guns; something hard to be done about it. The Mulford Act was supported by both Democrats and Republicans, and endorsed by the NRA. I think that needs reiteration; the Mulford Act was endorsed by the NRA! .This is just another example of a long history in the US of laws intended to disarm Black people, or at least make sure that they are outgunned. Something that TYT didn't make clear is that the Black Panthers didn't march, fully armed, on the California Capitol until after the Mulford Act had been proposed, as a protest.
