Ariel Adams of aBlogtoWatch reviews the Milus Snow Star watch. A recent remake of a Milus classic, this silver-dialed timepiece (Reference MIH.02.001) comes in a 39mm-wide case made out of 904L steel, which is the same grade of steel used by Rolex. Inside the 10mm-thick case is a top-grade Swiss 2892-A2 movement that offers 42 hours of power reserve. The Snow Star has an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, screw down crown, and is water resistant to 100m. Retail price is 1,690 CHF.
In addition to Milus using 904 L Stainless steel - Which is excellent.
the ETA 2892- a2 used in the Snow Star is a TOP grade movement, adjusted to 5 positions.
For the price...……. this is the best quality dress watch made today - hands down.
THe only other watch company I can think of that comes close in price, is the JS watch company from Iceland -
and even they don't use 904 L steel.
So I'd say that makes Milus one hell of a great bargain . I am very surprised to see so many people thumbing this video down.
If the nay sayers actually read the specs on this watch - they would realize just how good the Milus Snow Star actually is.
This may be the “perfect watch” l have been looking for. 1. Sub 40 mm. 2. 2892 top movement 3. Minimal or no lume 4. Date at 3 o’clock. Classic conservative design. 5. Under 1000$.
Well, it's not exactly under $1000. More close to $2000.
@@Emaratilfy Milus have a sale on the Snow Star every year. You can buy it during their sale for around $1,200 Dollars.
@@quarters-eye8922 Do you know usually which month of the year is the sale?
Will you please consider doing a review of the Dornbluth & Sohn - caliber 99.1
and the Hentschel Hamburg - manual wind time pieces.
Both companies make excellent- in house - hand wound watches.
Thank you for the consideration.
But does the reissue feature an "Instant Date" mechanism? The ETA 2892 does not, as far as I know, so maybe a bit of false advertising?
I don't understand the 👎. Haters probably. Not is a reason to unlike this review. The watch is good . Very good and beautiful.
Size: ( price: ( no lume?
This is a great WATCH!! Milus great Swiss brand 🇨🇭
Here is a link to a picture of the kit that was issued to ww2 pilots
The WWII-barter-kit story is nothing but marketing BS. You can see their original watch (the one they based the "reissue" on) and it's obviously from the 1960s.
Milus is owned by the Chow Tai Fook Group. This is just another case of a conglomerate trying to capitalize on the heritage of a defunct Swiss brand....except, in this case, it's worse, because the heritage is inaccurate.
There is nothing wrong with the Milus Snow Star. It's an excellent watch for the money.
The case is made of 904 L Stainless steel.
The Movement is a TOP grade ETA 2892-a2 adjusted to 5 positions.
Name one other watch brand that makes a watch with these specs for around $1,700.00 dollars
@@quarters-eye8922 You already posted that, and it doesn't relate to my comment?
@@AardvarkAdventure Respectfully, you appear to be bashing the brand without merit.
So I put forth the facts where this Snow Star is concerned and posed a question.
Can you name one single brand that makes a watch to these impressive specs for only $ 1,700.00
The only company that comes close is the JS watch company from Iceland...…...and their cases aren't even made of 904 L steel.
It definitely appears that Milus make some impressive watches for the money - regardless of who owns them.
That's the point.
@@quarters-eye8922 Well, they're inventing a piece of history to sell their watches rather than marketing them honestly, and that's pretty skeezy....and given your repeated copy/pasting of praise, it looks like they have employees commenting on their reviews, which is also skeevy.
So this picture from the US Naval History & Heritage Command is fake? www.flickr.com/photos/usnhistory/5355238650/in/album-72157624153732942/
There are also other pictures where the watch brand name is easier to read.
I hope in a steel bracelet version soon.
A steel bracelet for this is available on the Milus website
It's a good looking watch for the price. Nothing super impressive or mind blowing, but nice. I see people in the comments praising the 904l stainless steel. While 904L steel is arguably better for corrosion resistance (which is why its used in the chemical industry) there are not a lot of regular steel watches corroding off peoples wrist so its not really necessary. If the steel was really that superior then lots of other watch manufacturers would have adopted it and it serves more like a marketing gimmick. Some people might be impressed because Rolex is using this type of steel, but Rolex doesn't use AR coating on their sapphire crystals or transparent case backs so there's that too. High-end Rolex replicas also use 904l steel. The mechanism seems decent but nothing impressive in terms of craftsmanship or super accuracy with a standard power reserve.
Off topic: Obviously, you can't expect much from a sub 2000$ watch, but i'm no longer a huge fan of the most Swiss CH(ina) brands, simply because the so called ''Swiss made'' standard is kinda shady and misleading and for instance when you buy a watch that is made in Germany, USA, Japan, etc. you know that everything from the design to the finishing on the case or every part in the movement is 100% made in that country while with the ''Swiss made'' or like some call it CHina made it's hard to tell and almost all Swiss brands are keeping most of the manufacturing process the sources of their parts in secret.

We think it is odd too. RUclips tells us that for our subscribers to be notified of videos they need "ring the bell" by hitting a notification button. We certainly has all human subscribers. If there is advice on how to better work with the RUclips system we are always open to feedback.
aBlogtoWatch I'm not RUclips expert, but it looks like your viewership fell off a cliff less than a year ago when you started reviewing weird and off the radar brands. I imagine as the subscribes started to not watch your videos, less and less of your content gets pushed to others as recommended videos. Also less people are going to be searching for a review of a Milus (what even is this brand?) than a new release from a major brand, so you're getting less organic new viewers who discover you by searching for a particularly relevant review.
Our goal is to educate and inform in addition to delivering what people are already searching for. We are a discovery engine and I’ve been personally more interested in the creatively of the small brands as opposed to the stagnation that we seen in many of the big ones. If you haven’t heard of a brand before that doesn’t make it bad. That just makes the consumer conservative assuming they immediately cast it in a bad light. We are ramping up content on the bigger brands again, but have a firm mission to educate and pull people’s attention away from a few narrow brand options. That isn’t what watch collecting should be about in our opinion.
@@ablogtowatch well said! Keep doing what you're doing. 👏 It's good to learn about new brands - especially ones like Milus with such a rich history.
