Shame on you for weighing a wrasse by the gill cover absolutely no need get a sling/carrier bag or use a landing net head terrible fish care, no excuse

Unfortunately didn't have one that day my friend 🤗 however that fish swam away strong ready to fight another day, if you stayed long enough to see it ❤️

Never caught a wrasse in Ireland, I do enjoy fishing for a North American wrasse cousin called tautog or just tog for short. Unlike your wrasse, they do grow bigger and are very good eating. They are known for their bulldog fight as they try to wrap your line around rocks or any other obstructions, you have to get them up asap. It is nearly impossible to catch them on a lure. They are primarily caught on crabs. As for your waders chaffeing your legs, try putting a couple of turns of duct tape tightly around the cuff of your pants to stop them from riding up and allowing the boot contact with your skin. Cheap and effective.

Wrasse do not fight hard. They hit hard but then usually give up when they get clear of their bolt hole. Pollack are the same. They come out of the kelp hit the lure like a train then turn into a wet paper bag. Don't get me wrong they are fun and a worthy quarry. Just don't expect them to peel the drag after that initial scuffle.

@@specimendavetv7826 👍 when do you normally stop lure fishing for bass end of September ishhh??

@@wayne5240 whenever the weather stops me 🤣 weather here has been terrible past couple weeks, water is like soup, but once it settles I'll fish them again, any chance I get with some clear water I'll head out over the winter as there's definitely still some fish around during the colder months, just harder to entice a take i think

@@specimendavetv7826 soup hahahaha , interesting that I’ve been wondering what to do most people have been saying after end of sept they don’t bother but i definitely think they’re will be the odd few kicking about like you say, it’s quite slow up this end anyway during daylight hours even in The summer but been getting better success at night time on the paddle tails and Patchinko decent size fish too. I don’t want the season to end it’s to addictive 😂
