Sepak takraw or "kick volleyball" is now played worldwide. There are sepak teams now in Texas, Arizona, Oregon, California, Wisconsin and Nevada.
why dont this game not in the olympic?
@@theonewalkerhd846 My country has promoted this game worldwide since I was a kid..that maybe 30y already. It needs more 30years maybe to be well accepted. Only then it will be in Olympic.

My first time ever discovering this sport. I️ must say that this is a dope sport!
It pronounce Say-park Tuck-raw
If you wanna pronounce it perfectly.. "Say park tuck raw" it will pronounce Sepak Takraw..
Aight sepak takraw is a sport like badminton but without racket.they cant play more than 3 times in succession (like volleyball, they cant play more than 5 I think).3 player per team,1 tekong-who serve the ball, they serve in those ring at the middle of the court.2 striker(my country call it killer)-the one who need to end the ball on the opponent side. 3 is feeder-they job just feed the ball to the air so striker can kill it.(my role in the past at school,,and never win any tournament.and my striker feel he's so good when he's just wat we call frog in the well, and he blame us for losing, haha fcking piece of shit).
Ninh Ly has a great video explaining the rules, but if you want a one-sentence summary: it's volleyball with the ball-touching rules of soccer.
The ball is made of rattan
If you're wondering why thailand is so good, we have a different game for it called ตะกร้อลอดห่วง or takraw lod huang translated to takraw through the hoop. It's a completely different game and the most traditional way to use takraw. Sepak takraw is quite a new invention in malaysia during the siamese empire.
Sepak takraw originates in Malaysia that the Prince of Malacca (ancient kingdom in malaysia) is so expert he can juggle the ball with foot while riding a horse. Later on he become a Sultan, the citizen plays it as it is popular among the royals.

I played this one during college time. Famous to some area in the Philippines . It’s a native sport for us and played by our ancestors.
You must be from the south of Philippines
@@gangstylo he could be from north , this sport had spread throughout the philippines.
This sport goes through extreme training to build all the leg strength. Much like volleyball, each side gets 3 touches each time but 1 person can touch it all 3xs if needed. The ball is made from bamboo so it is super hard. It takes a lot of conditioning to be able to control the ball and take the hits
The ball original made of rattan, but has been changed to plastic.
Malaysia vs Thailand in sepak takraw just like el clasico

When i was little, i watch takraw around my neighbourhood, i just sit near the court, when the striker strike the ball just like in the video, and the ball hit straight to my head.. It feels like i was about to die
for those that new to the sport and wonder how they decide the best striker. Bcoz i know you must think almost all looks the same. Technically yes, they are similar, the only reason differentiate whos the best is..
1. they can change the ball direction in mid air. it will be hard opponent to do blocking.
2. striker must have a good ultra instinct to block spike from opponent striker.
3. How quick striker made decision and launch strikes.
4. positioning and placing - the hard angles to do spike, and angles of placing they can do by spike.
5. intelligent - best striker knows where the spot he should targeted before every strike.
ooooohhh man i love to watch reaction for the first time watch sepak takraw. ..
it so interisting
Bla, Bla, Bla I DON'T CARE I’ll be sure to check it out. Thanks for the recommendation.
This sport should be promoted to the whole world. Seriously enjoy
if I didn't see it.. I won't believe it.. just amazing
This sports is for ninjas only 😜😜😜😜😁✌️
Each team consists of 3 people, tekong (pronounced as tay-kong), feeder and killer. Each character has their own specific skills. basically the tekong will do a service kick, the feeder will balance the ball in order for the killer to make the killer shot. This sport has quite the same rules as volleyball.
Everytime the ball is in the air it is breathtaking, every received spike deserves praise.
I was born in Singapore and I used to play Sepak Takraw. And I have to say. It is the most fun sport I've personally played before.
55555 awesome reaction man! love it

Sepak takraw is the most hardest sport
I saw some Takraw matches in Thailand while on holiday. Those Takraw players are just amazing.
Sepak Takraw, commonly referred to in Thailand just as Takraw, is a sport that is becoming increasingly popular around the world. It is a mixed form of football (soccer) and volleyball with a little bit of kung fu and gymnastics. The basic objective of the game is to keep the special ball from touching the ground. Players can use their feet, knees, head, shoulders and elbows but not their hands. THAILAND is the best in this sport.
Kappo
Yes, the sports is called Sepaktakraw.
It's an ancient sports in South East Asia, played by even kings and sultans. Of the rules evolved over time. Now almost every country in the east, including Japan has a national team. The ball is noe made of heavy plastic, but just 30 years ago, they were made of rattan.
This is also a famous sport in the Philippines ✨

Basically, it's volleyball. But you're not allowed to use your hand/upper limbs during the gameplay.
The hardest sport ever. Its technical, strength and talent
it's really beautiful ! amazing
@IamJustDevante this game actually is widely played in Malaysia, Thailand. The game rules is that each team of three has 3 taps to make the attack to the opponents team...which means the team who served will have to make a defense from the other team who received & making the attack & vice versa...the team who makes to 21 points first will win the game & is always played in best of three games
This is our traditional sport in Malaysia.
High level of acrobatic, precision and strength.

Im now 2nd year college yet i know how to play basics when i was grade 9 here in the Philippines. I love playing this sport.
the ball is made of rattan... so it quite hard... when you smash the ball with your head, it kinda hurt at first
There's no tennis in it...its a sport popular in South East Asia, but now spreading..as u can see there is a Usa team...the sport is like volleyball but using their feet..the court does'nt have a trampoline..like volleyball they can touch the ball 3 times without falling to the ground...the position in the sport is the tekong, the feeder and the killer(the one that jump and doing that backflip and stuft) there are 3circle, the middle one and the 2 one the side..which is for serving. when the tekong serve the ball from the middle circle..the killer and the feeder will be in the 2 circle on the side...im from Malaysia...i played a little of it as a hobby..im ok..not that good...the sport normally dominate by thailand and malaysia..because that two teams probably on every final games..like they would meet maybe every finals...im not too sure...and oh yeah..the ball made of rotan(more elastic version of cane) and will hurt you, if u played it for the first time but then u gonna get use to it..the Sepak literally means kick in Malaysia/Indonesia language..and Takraw means the rotan ball in Thai..
Amin Rayquaza dont forget the Philippines
minh forgot to mention that the player body cannot touch the net, or hit the ball when the ball is already pass over to the opposing side, and only two substitutions allow for the players
Baik r bro
Takraw means kick in thailand not the rattan ball..

Wow I still can’t believe that My Homeland (Philippines) changed its National sport from “Sipa” to “Arnis/Kali/Eskrima” I’m going to miss this sport though.I’ve played it before and watched Filipino kids and teens play this...
The Philippines changed the national sport to Arnis because the rationale according to the politicians is that very few women play "sipa" and also "sipa" is no longer appealing to older people... So it's basically a past time for boys. A national sport must be something that can be enjoyed regardless of sex and age. Bit I don't think this argument has substance though.
@@ryan-smith i think the philippines should make sepak takraw and Arnis or Kali or Escrima a national sport.
Somehow, my dad pasted a sepak takraw poster in my room when I was like 3 or 4. It stayed there for several years. So this sports is like my “childhood sports.” But I don’t have that athleticism to play it 😆

This sport is pronounced as what some others has said - say-park-tar-craw. Originiated from malaysia initially called as sepak raga. Sepak (pronounced say-park) meaning kick and raga (pronounced ra-ger) meaning basket or rattan which the material of the ball used to be made of back then. Currently the balls are made of synthetic hard plastic as this is more durable while still having that similar aspects of rattan. This game used to be played in a circle like a keepy-uppy but years later turned into this competiiton format of 3vs3 team sport where rules similar to volleyball is applied. The name takraw comes from the thai word meaning rattan ball. Hence sepak raga and sepak takraw has similar meaning. But internationally this sport is now. Known as sepaktakraw. Teams from south east asia namely thailand and malaysia has been dominating this sport for years with the occasional upsets by teams from indonesia, singapore and myanmar. Since the sport been practice outside of south east asia roughly around the 90s more teams have emerged and has been improving through the years. This sport however has yet to be featured as an olympic sport. But with growing interest especially after past world cups, this could turn into a reality maybe as early as the 2024 Olympics
No sir, this sport is originality from the phillipines
@@shantalmaehapal4021 No, I believe it's origin from malacca sultanate(malaysia) since 14000
last time i played this sport when i was in elementary school
To understand the rules of the game, just imagine volleyball game, with three players, and using foot, and the one with backflip style called KILLER, and the small circle in the middle is a place for SERVE (spot for team to start the game) and a person who did SERVE called TEKONG ( Tae Kong ). And lastly, is a FEEDER (a person who set the ball for KILLER) without them, KILLER mostly cannot doing a backflip to spike the ball.
The counting method is just like playing Table Tennis. Before this the counting is the same with Badminton old counting. Now it's much faster.
In Sepak Takraw, everybody was Kung Fu Fighting.
If the ground was soft, you couldn't launch yourself high enough to kick with a downward smash. You just need to know how to rotate so you land on your feet after a high jump kick.
This game is so lit men.

im not sure where is this takraw sports originate from (either malaysia or thailand), so I wont say which does it come from...
but fyi, this takraw thing have already been existed since long before the 'napoleon war' thing happens ... at the time the takraw ball is made up from straw, as in strawhat

In the old days, the famous player in sepak takraw is Mugiwara. But he only play once in a while as hobby, since his main job is as a pirate.
Sepak takraw is from the Malacca sultanate in around 15th century
Sepak is from malay means kick
Takraw is from thailand means the ball that made out from rattan..

It's an ancient sport from South East Asia- much older than football- and now getting popular in most Asian countries.
If im not mistaken, this sport was discovered around 14 or 15 centuries. So it probably way older than those sport u mention that related to this sport and they use the same material from badminton court i guess, so it not bouncy.

It really is enjoyable and challenging sports i tell u, but man, if you ever got hit on your head by one of those *"kick spike"* then you'd be best taking a medical check-up afterwards since that thing flying over is as hard as stone only lighter i tell you hahaha..
I remembered the old days of my childhood, i used to play this sports (representing school) and really loved it, and hate plus scared at the same time whenever the opponent side's time to jump and actually *"spike's"* the ball while my position is in the receiving team..just imagine it, someone throwing a rock as hard as he possibly could and this is not the situation where u *"should"* rather u *"have/need"* to *"not"* dogde it, instead face it head on and literally *"repel"* it by your very own fragile head.. wheww..i still am, surprised almost cant believe it myself, how the hell did i even managed to somehow survived that scene a long time ago..hahaha and God i hate that *"receiving ball"* moment. Like seriously..Hahaha..

The takraw ball used to be made with rattan, but modern takraw balls are made of plastic that mimics rattan closely...rattan takraw balls breaks easily because the 'killers' (strikers) kick the balls so hard, and a broken rattan is sharp and can easily cut open the skin...

Sepak Takraw is a traditional sport originated by the Malay and popular in the Malay Nusantara Archipelago. The sport have been around since more than 500 years ago. The meaning “ Sepak is kickinig “ the ball call Takraw and the balll was made by meterial of rottan. That also use to call it Sepak Raga which is the ball is smaller than Takraw.. The organisation council and committee “Sepak Takraw Association “ was formed by the Perses tAssociation in Singapura and have decided that to include Sepak Takraw sport to participate into ASEAN Game just like Olympic Games. And now the game was so increasingly famous and popular even countries like Korea, Japan and many others also participate in this traditional sport.
Btw originally the ball is made out of rotan which is a type of wood but now it is made out of plastic which makes it a little bit (not really)
