Meet Janai Smith, Master of Surgical Assisting, Class of 2017

Janai Smith earned her biology degree from Norfolk State University because she always wanted a career in health care. At first she planned to be a dentist, and she even shadowed a dentist for several months. Then she learned about the Master of Surgical Assisting program at EVMS. After learning she would work side-by-side with surgeons, she says, “I knew it was something I could do.
