i’ve become OBSESSED with katseye and i want them to be successful sooooo bad. you’re so right that all 6 girls have proven that they deserve to be pop stars, i just hope their label/management doesn’t fumble it (it’s looking good so far, but they really need to solodify a place in the western music scene with their next comeback)
@@vixxexo6855 i think it’s just harder to promote in the west. there are music festivals, but katseye doesn’t have the discography for a full set yet. they’re about to do a performance at the mall of america, and their word of mouth seems to be good judging off of social media traction. i think they should collab with a bigger western artist tho
They really need to lean towards something like Buttons… the performance on Dream Academy went viral and showcases more complex choreography. Also I think the songs / mv should have more of a storyline as that’s more popular in the west.
Honestly agree with this take but seeing as how they mentioned that Yoonchae is still a minor I think they’ll probably have to either wait on that idea until she’s of age or see how to explore that theme without sexualizing the girls too much
@@katgreer6113 I sorta disagree since a minor(in general) can't give consent, which is the excuse pdf file usually gives(this sidetracked a lot, but you get my point right?)
@izzme5204 Ig...it just made me feel powerless though. When I was 17(just somw months ago) ppl treated me like I had no brain and couldn't think for myself. When you think about it, 18 isn't that far off from being a minor and suddenly I can dance however I want? It's like before that age, none of my decisions were my own and neither was my body. But. Yes I DO get what you mean. It's just the law. The way it is. When it comes to pedos yeah OK. But dance moves idk...🤷♀️ but whatever.

nah touch was the best concept for them and they should stick with it until their youngest member becomes an adult and bc the concept actually fits them very well like they only need powerful songs but the concept is good as for now
@@pumpumrin I disagree I think they should take the fifth harmony or little mix route if they want to become mainstream and chart well in the west otherwise its not going to go well for them
2:17 I seriously don’t get WHY people think they aren’t supposed to do music shows or promote in Korea?? They are under a KOREAN label! Of course we’re going to get promotions in the country one of their labels are located. Music shows have also always allowed other artists like Usher and Lady Gaga. The ppl who are getting mad they’re promoting in Korea are not even mad they are promoting in Japan and the Philippines. They are a global group so ofc they will promote in different countries. The girls themselves have also said that they are not a Kpop group. They were trained with a kpop system and might take some features kpop groups have and include them. A kpop group has to do three things : sing in Korean, promote primarily in Korea and go through the trainee system. Lightsticks are SUCH a good idea for the group tho. And as we can see the “kpop” promotions on social media must be working as they have ppl doing the dance AND 11.2 mil monthly listeners with 90 mil streams with Touch. They are not flopping lmao. Idk why ppl think they’re gonna flop lmao (just to make sure you don’t think I’m saying you said this I’m not I’m saying I’ve seen ppl say this, None of this was directed towards you) This was a rant lmao I’m sorry 😅😭

I hundred percent agree their next project needs to have a lot of creative input from the members. They need to make their indie individual ideas and identities known!!!
Not everyone has to selfproduce. Let the proffesionals do that. Selfproducing groups are hit or miss. Like (G)i-dle latest songs are huge misses and has no artistry. Stray Kids latest songs are so similiar to each other. Having proffesional producers make the song is better in longtherm. Having selfproduced song every now and then is okey, but every song be selfproduced will be a drop of quality.
@@vixxexo6855 I never said they have to be self PRODUCED i said that they should have creative input. If they have the passion for performing and music that they claim to have, they should express themselves in it. May it be through writing, designing, or choreographing parts of there music/performances.
Like Fr, Manon has mentioned she writes her own lyrics I think the other members do to, plus Lara has already done remixes. I'm surprised she hasn't been part of the producing process. This group is the epitome of potential. I really hope their companies don't waste it
And they have lore as eyekons yall forgot that part just sayin they should stick to it They tapped in on it a lil bit in Touch but next comeback they should tap more into there lore I loved magical girls stories and anime as a kid and still like fantasy genre ❤❤
As someone who listens to all hybe groups, im always surprised when one of their groups has a comeback and at least one member isn’t credited. Most of their groups have debuted with credits on their songs but looking at the current trend of the groups that haven’t, it seems to be standard for Hybe survival shows groups in general to take a backseat creatively and let the label lead them. Belift (for all their worth) has even gone as far as to finally let the Enhypen members lead the production aspects of their latest tour. All this to say, I understand people’s concern about Katseye having not as much involvement musically as we would all like but I’m not worried about this “trust the label” idea being a concern for the longterm. In my opinion (and with some wishful thinking) their social media freedom, Lara showcasing remixes of touch, and what you said about the girls proving that themselves are a draw for people is a sign that they’ll be more involved creatively for their future releases.
I feel like K-Pop stans are tapped into their own communities and so they see how much the documentary has affected the perception of members within the community, but I think people don't realize just how many viewers from outside the community that show has had. I've heard people in my college classes talking about it who aren't K-Pop fans. I think Katseye as a group is better off for having the documentary, while the members themselves might not be.
If you watched Popstar Academy, especially when they revealed the group’s name, you could tell they were going for a fresh start with a plan to get more mature over time (especially since they have Yoonchae). I’m glad they’re promoting in Korea because we’re getting so many quality performances and fancams. Did anyone see their GMA performance of Touch? It felt a little lifeless with no crowd, and the mics weren’t great either. Their management’s really hustling to grow their fanbase, which is nice to see. Instead of just sticking to shows, they’re also doing mall performances-kind of like what Fifth Harmony did to build up a hardcore following before touring. And they’re all solid singers, so I’d love to see them get more involved creatively as they go. Not that they all have to write songs, but it’d be cool if Lara produced, Megan or Dani did choreography, and maybe the others worked on styling. It could really help them grow as a group. Honestly, Popstar Academy gave them a huge boost, which is probably why Touch got so many streams after it aired. The girls seem to get along really well, and I’m just excited to see them keep rising!
I think they’re already doing well at breaking into the western market. I hear their songs in Starbucks and stores, and Trisha Paytas is even on board. I’m really hopeful for their future
YES! I've said this time and time again, INVOLVE the members in songwriting! The West won't take an artist as seriously when they barely write their music, even the most popular of artists face scrutiny for having too many writers on their credits or simply deciding to not involve themselves in the songwriting process. We can already see that the girls are talented enough to see the direction they want to be in, and the music they want to make. I want Lara's Touch remix ASAP~! KATSEYE can be big, I think that most K-pop stans are thinking of a K-pop mentality, where idols are usually just popular domestically. But with a global group, you can promote anywhere and the general audience isn't JUST K-pop stans or South Korea. HYBE should 100% use their connections and try to secure a good collaboration, OUTSIDE of K-pop, that could help grab attention as well. Also, I hope they'll put their ALL into this group because they deserve it and you can't have a Grammy-winning artist without FULLY dedicating your resources to your artist.
I was literally a Fifth Harmony Stan and not really a K-pop fan but Katseye drew me in now Le Sserafim, New Jeans, ILLIT are definitely on my playlist. They are gathering a fanbase without leaving out the K-pop audience. It’s kinda smart to me anyway. Their full album will tell all though.
Honestly I'm not the biggest fan of Katseye's discography. It's pleasant for TikToks but I never feel a craving to stream the full songs. But, the member's off-stage personas are very good. They're relatable but weird which is the perfect combo. Anyway, I think the next step for Western success is festival performances. Make an EP with that in mind and next summer is their time to shine. Also, I think the Netflix show has actually been pretty good at getting the members in people's minds. Jenny Nicholson tweeted about Pop Star Academy the other day. It was a critique of how wild the production was (which makes the survival show thing likely not repeatable) but it does then frame the members as sympathetic victims of reality TV producers.
I definitely agree with all the takes, them having little to no creative control will end up becoming a problem once they branch out to the west. But I think songs like My Way and Tonight I might show me that they probably won’t go the “touch” route forever. I particularly liked Tonight I Might, and I know a lot of people on social media have as well, because it captures a sense of nostalgia. I think even though we’ll probably get some more songs like Touch in the future, they won’t neglect the impact that their more thought out songs had on the market (mind you I work in a supermarket in France and I heard My Way play like twice)
While I agree about flexing their pen game at some point, I think they're still developing their identity as a group and that I think takes time. Once they nail their brand, then I think that's the perfect time where they can write songs for themselves. At this point, I think they should be nailing the STAR part of being a popstar first! In reality, if they really wanted the girls to get writing credit they can easily include them in the room and add a word or two and that could count as a writing credit (like other pop stars) but I think that's not priority. If you think girl group pop stars from the west, I don't necessarily associate that with the singer songwriter archetype. I think of strong performers, impeccable harmonies and charisma. I agree that Kpop listeners are great early adapters for this group (or any group) to gain prestige and clout which ultimately pushes them to more mainstream algorithm. I would also never want them to lose that K-pop feeling - I think that in itself is a strong branding feature for the team - as in great performers, in sync choreography, catchy tunes. I disagree with the not doing an earwormy, repetitive song as they need the numbers for great press and keeping the ball rolling - on whether that should be similar to Touch (or riding on another sound trend) - I'm not sure since I do hear the discourse of it sounding very newjeans, pinkpantheress, illit, and that's not really great for them as a brand but again they're still trying to find their signature sound. They really nailed the really great combination in this EP though with the catchy song like Touch + more vocally inclined My Way + rapping focused debut. They're opening a lot of doors as to what their musical identity can be in the future and what KATSEYE as a brand is all about.
I find it interesting how Hybe is pushing the idea about how this group is made from the masterminds behind bts' success, while one of the fundamental factors that led to bts' rise is how much the members themselves are involved and respected as actual artists
This is a good point. The same is true for (G)I-DLE. They were only taken seriously when people found out the members controlled their artistry, and now they always have successful songs.
I'm really excited for they're future releases. Like, are we gonna keep getting mini albums, for how long, how long in between will we wait for albums, will it be every 6 or so months like in kpop or will it be a year or two like in the west. I'm very curious about how will they do that cause HYBE is really cheap in the amount of songs they put out on a project.
I don't know what you mean by hybe is cheap with the amount of songs ,hybe has different groups run by their own label management seventeen, bts,etc have full albums
@Arielaarmy-k7i yes but those are like big BIG groups. Groups like LESSERAFIM, Enhyopen, TxT don't have more than 9 songs in there albums wich in the west that is kind of considered an E.P like Billie Eilish said in an interview that her first proyect was an E.P with 9 songs. (I think it was with vanity fair the interview I can't remember)
@svt_kiof but that is not a hybe thing but a kpop thing in general. Kpop groups have a lot of comebacks in one year but western artists can have their comeback when they want and it can take as long as they want. Let's just say a group has 3 comebacks with 9 songs each in a year, that's already 36 songs
you’re definitely right. them catering to kpop stans was smart i think i just didn’t know how western audiences would take a group marketing in kpop and the west. will they be seen as kpop idols? will that hinder them? i think acknowledging the xenophobia in that statement is important but we also have to be realistic. wishing for the best!
with the amount of work they put on their social media i surely hope they succeed, there's at least a new video everyday and the girls are doing alot of lives too on weverse, their personalities are good and alot more relatable that's why writting their songs will def give them this boost.
I have the same chip in my brain. I think it’s called being a good person. And having a desire to defend, protect, and champion the put down, especially if they’re completely undeservedly put down 😊 Great video, such a wise tip about authenticity! I hope they take your advice!
the documentary did more good than harm honestly, because i think it was a driving factor on why touch blew up so much more (& why they blew up during touch era instead of debut and how much their success and interaction numbers skyrocketed)
I honestly think pop star academy helped them more than it damaged them in the way any of ‘bad publicity is still publicity’. Even content creators that never really talk about kpop except tangentially were making videos about it.
They need to release another album IMMEDIATELY I don’t agree with the K-Pop release method for western artists but since Katseye don’t help with their creativity/production yet the K-pop method can sustain them if they utilize it properly. Their b-sides have gotten literally no attention so they need to start promoting all their songs I’m tired of them promoting the same 2 songs everywhere. They either need to release another project to draw the attention of newly gained fans or utilize the songs they already have to try and pull more fans. Right now people only care about “Touch” which already has 90 Million Streams while their b-sides don’t even have 5 Million Streams 😅 if they wanna be selling out stadiums in less than 5 years which was said to be the goal then they need to develop musically as artists QUICKLY
They have minor literally yoonchae she is 17 untill she turns 18 they'll be safe with their songs and make the strong basement not too cutesy not too mature that's the best st strategy @@Anonx000
@@Anonx000cute concepts definitely do sell in the West, innocent concepts do not though… they can do cute here and there but there needs to be a level of maturity in the music (think Spice Girls, PinkPanthersss). And the girls (beside Yoonchae and maybe Sophia) don’t want to do strictly innocent concepts either.
@@Arkv-o1nNot using cute concepts doesn’t automatically equate to switching to a sexual type of concept. That person is right. Cute concepts don’t sell. But they have the right idea with Touch-it just needs some refinements.
They need longer, more complex songs. Most of them are only 2 minutes and not a single one clears 3 minutes. If you can't even hit Eurovision length requirements, I have QUESTIONS. They're all cute bops that I have on repeat, but I'm annoyed when the EP starts to repeat after only 11 minutes. Feels like an album made for TikTok. I like all of them but I just want them to be LONGER. Also I truly appreciate the lyrics that appeal to teens, but if they really want to crossover and hit big I think they need some songs that aren't exclusively targeted at preteens. All the big girl groups that hit in the West had songs that spoke to young 20-somethings+ that teens also then loved. They didn't mention parents/sneaking out of the house/high school parties, etc.
This upload is perfectly timed bc I literally just got into Katseye like a day ago and I can not stop thinking about them. I honestly only really like 2 of their songs, but their charisma is insane!! I'm very excited to see what they come up with!
Just before anyone reads this, I want you to know that I love kpop as well as other music industries and genres. Anyways, I believe in Popstar Academy, there was a mention of combining the best of both worlds (Kpop and American pop) but I feel like we could see even more emphasis on the American pop part of things. I personally think the team behind KATSEYE should consider looking into nostalgic hit material elements from famous girl groups (90s, 2000s and 2010s eras) in the west and painting it onto KATSEYE. I genuinely think that could help with pushing more recognition, mainly from millenials and the older Gen Z audience. I definitely think they're getting somewhere sound and concept wise, but I would love to see something experimental but still works with their current sound and concept. (For styling, I'd love to see some dolly glam makeup. For sound, 90's style R&B/DnB vibes. For music video visuals, 3D animated versions of their dolls which transition to the real girls etc.) Also performance wise, I think they should go down the Danity Kane type performance route. They very often had tight choreo and solid synchronisation but there's also some things that made them stand out from kpop girl groups: vocal improvisation, some let loose choreo here and there instead of robotic, engaging more with the audience. These elements could really boost the attention growth because we haven't had performances like that from girl groups in so long. It could be seen as "refreshing". Let me know what y'all think!
Some songs i think they could go in the direction of: • Positions by Ariana Grande • Easy by LE SSERAFIM • Needs by Tinashe • Sour Candy by BP and Lady Gaga
Fire video as per usual! 🔥 thank you for summing up my thoughts and feelings into words because I’ve been thinking about this a lot but had no idea how to explain it
I want them to eagerly release good radio songs starting from their release. Also, KATSEYE already made a formula of their own to pierce both market in KPOP and WEST even people who are not into KPOP are tuning in for their music. Please support them more They have the IT factor as a girl global group, so keep your hands down everybody. They have it
Yeah, I’m going to need Geffen to overtake the promotions, at least when it comes to musical direction and performances. Geffen has a lot of HYBE groups signed under them, which worries me because, in the doc, they literally said whatever groups come out of this survival "show" will make or break their label. So far, their musical direction will not get them where they want to go. You wouldn’t even know Geffen has Olivia Rodrigo, Camila Cabello or Gracie. The promotions and music are so vastly different. The Geffen side feels more mature, more impactful, and with more purpose. Their K-pop side feels more like Tik-Tok and, well… K-pop. Touch is on Spotify Global because many Asian countries are streaming, and we all know many Asian countries consume the most K-pop songs and groups. I would love for them to have true global dominance and cater to fans who aren’t from Asia, too. I want it to be more equal. It feels like their 70% for the Asian market and 30% for the Western market. Which is not not going to break the "K-pop group" label that they have. I also think they’re not giving justice to Lara and Daniela’s talents specifically because their abilities are at the next level. Honestly, the whole EP is a disservice to them especially. The touch remix with the TXT member raises questions because I know he just debuted solo and wants attention for his music, but it does absolutely nothing for KATSEYE. Or doesn’t have equal benefits, at least. KATSEYE has 11. something millions of monthly listeners… and remember, they’re all mostly from Asian countries. So it doesn’t make sense to keep catering to an audience that listens to you anyway. It benefits Yeonjun more than it does KATSEYE, and I fear HYBE’s way of promoting KATSEYE will hinder many other opportunities. You can tell when Geffen is promoting because they do it traditionally. So, right now, I’m a bit worried about their comeback because if it’s another TikTok type of song. Then it will solidify them as TikTok song makers, and I don’t want that for them, given their potential and talents.
I would love to hear more personal songs from them that also play to their strengths. I would love for a song thats shows off some of the girls belting and vocal power. Ever since they sang "Love on Top" i've been wanting that!! I think another way to have the members shine is to do covers. F5ve did this with both song and dance performances to show the members strengths and to establish their indiviual talents.
You’re so right about them having creative input in their music, they will never make it without this. I don’t know why HYBE is so hellbent on not letting them be involved.
Nobody cares if a group is selfproduced or not. Even in the west artists like Rihanna, Selena Gomez and Katy Perry are huge. Only rappers are expected to be selfproduced in the west. No one expects that from pop singers.
@@vixxexo6855 In 2024, yes they do. Katy hasn't had a hit song since 2014, Selena's last solo hit was in 2019 and it was she had writing credits and Rihanna is inactive. All the CURRENT popular western pop acts in 2024 contribute to their music.

Well Suga did say he wanted to continue Suchwita for a long time so I think that was still apart of his plan after military. The only reason I think he may step back from it is because of his recent controversy. But I hope he doesn't.
@@nuhkyah23 I doubt the controversy will affect much, BTS have always had to deal with the press blowing their mistakes up into huge "social issues". But my main point was that the main reason the show was made was for BTS to have a show to promote their solo albums on, and once they no longer have solo albums and are focusing on group work again I doubt there'll be the time or the need for Suchwita anymore. A girl can dream but it was a great era while it lasted 🥲 (correction: of course they'll keep making solo works, like they always have, but I think their primary focus will be BTS as a group. it's still a possibility that they will decide to keep the show going since it was so successful, but I think it's unlikely since Yoongi is already usually so busy with BTS activities and also doing a lot of heavy lifting with his production.)
I love video Essays, so Imagine my suprise having 3 Videos about katseye from people that all start with "I have no idea about kpop but I watched the docu on netflix so I need to talk about that:

Nah their Label will push it for them, they are under Geffen records as well. They pushed Olivia and she won 3 Grammys for her debut album. KATSEYE will have their debut album in 2025 just before the big music festivals like Lollapalooza, Coachella (so they can perform a full set, their discography now only has 11 mins at max) and award shows like AMA, VMAs and all. Their label will push for best new artist for 2026 Grammys. if all things go right, they may even win it.
I do agree with you with the way they intend to capture first kpop fans then the west. However, I do think them writing songs will take them like a bit longer like 2 -3 yrs perhaps when they already established a huge market. Coz at the end of the day this is business to the company. If you look at hybe shareholders meeting and financial report they reported a huge loss since they invested a lot of money in creating Hybe America and one of its investments is a joint venture with Geffen Records. This project was like 4 years in the making, a lot of money was invested and to let the girls do writing themselves would be a big no for the stockholders/directors since a huge money is at stake. If you look at 2ne1 and blackpink it took them years before they were able to create their own music like CL of blackpink was able only to write and produce music for 2ne1 after like 2-3 yrs but still they have their main producer who makes music for them and also blackpink like rose was only able to release her own written song few years after. Also in the west like Sabrina , it took her years also for her to rise in popularity, Like groups like fifth harmony did not write their own songs when they first started. Some of their songs , some have writing credits but their main title tracks are mostly written by other people. If you read the Article of New yorker where it talks about Bang pd breaking in the US market , his visions for the company you will know a bit of what direction will KAtseye will be. As much as I don't like him personally he surely knows how to run a business. It was also stated there on how he got Scooter Braun to work with Jungkook , and the song "seven " was originally for Justin Bieber. And in the documentary they kept saying this project was a make it or break it , and the future of the company is at stake. Based on the article of Bang pd in New yorker saying there is already a LAtin group in the making and more new groups in the west means that Katseye is doing great and I'm sure Hybe is fully invested now in investing in the group. The fact that they put Son Seundeuk who is famous for being the performance director for BTS and be their official executive director and creator for Katseye says a lot. And I'm glad that Katseye now is slowly getting recognized not just in kpop and also in the west. These girls are just so talented , and I like what Son Seundeuk said that normally in kpop groups like 2-3 members are only like the front runners but he said that all members of Katseye are front runners in their own way. That is why there is no official position like main dancer, main vocal , visual, center etc but only the official leader.
i think that they should do what XG has done where they utilise the kpop industry to boost themselves but at some point distancing themself from kpop in genre. style of music and also how they choose to promote cause i'd say it's worked extremely well for XG and it really should be the go to strategy for any global groups coming out of korea
everyone saying they need to have a different concept to become mainstream in the west… have you seen how popular touch is? my friends who don’t even know who they are or anything about kpop know touch. it was all over tiktok. it’s going to be a dti emote(ok idk if that counts because it’s known that at least some of the devs like kpop but STILL). if you think they need to be “more mature” to make it in the west that says a lot about everyone’s lack of knowledge of the western industry. what about olivia rodrigo’s teen pop album that won 3 grammys, gave her a sold out arena tour, and was all over the radio and the internet for MONTHS? i’d say she was pretty successful, and if you listened to the entire katseye album, you’d see that it’s pretty similar. like tonight i might could literally be one of her songs (also, i don’t think we need the 16 year old to have a mature concept yet thanks guys 😁)
I love how hybe and Bang PD keep confusing people he will never let people know is next move he knows the industryore than most people and has studied it thats why he decided to let BTS come to America for the first ti do Americans hustle life hip pop version. Katseye is very young they have all the time to write and discover their writing skills its needs to happen organically no need to rush them hybe Americans knows what they are doing. Thanksbfir finally see they are a success when you initially didn't think they will succeed ❤❤❤❤
Katseye is such a repulsively corporate group. Designed by committee, its entire image is summed up as "committee". It isn't organic, and individualism doesn't exist.
What are your thought on that newyorker article mostly about katseye and bang pd, but especially the reveal that there are Plans for another girl and boy group in the us and people alreadys training for their latin group under hybe?
i don't think that will happen anytime soon it might be an idea for now but if i remember correctly geffen records said they're risking everything to make this group, and their success will determine the rest. i also don't think any us label would lean into this idea easily.
Eh I would say he is. Most people recognize his stage name, he sold out (I think?) his most recent tour, and his songs pop up on all sorts of Spotify playlists … I guess it depends on how you define “celebrated” (also from a hozier fan in the west)
I'm super confused what they're even aiming for, because their debut wasn't neither kpop to me, nor US pop. But that may just be me? I think they had a good b-side after that, but for now I don't have enough information to really be interested in this group. I do genuinely think that it's better to ultimately pick one side and stick to it. I don't think the in-between way will work.
You are talking about US, not the WORLD. World is okay with kpop formula where artists don't create all of their songs. Only US fixating on this. Global is okay.
They are not K-pop, not idols. They are supposedly a global group but half are American even though they were obviously picked for their “different” looks to appear global.
I think it’s premature to decide that a group is on a path of world domination with a very limited discography .. . Plus for me, they still do not give me anything different or special . .. . Just meh . .. not hating on them . .. . They could still probably be on that path when time comes . . . . That remains to be seen
Bro they just debuted it's their first album so it had to be a mini album my only concern it that i hope next the release music that is made to break into the west not a kpop song like touch and that their songs should be morethan 3 minutes
them about to have a Dress to Impress emote is so huge for a Global Group

i’ve become OBSESSED with katseye and i want them to be successful sooooo bad. you’re so right that all 6 girls have proven that they deserve to be pop stars, i just hope their label/management doesn’t fumble it (it’s looking good so far, but they really need to solodify a place in the western music scene with their next comeback)
Amen
Like Hybe really did not promote then at all in the west.
I got hooked on them and now I got my family hooked lol 😅
@@vixxexo6855 i think it’s just harder to promote in the west. there are music festivals, but katseye doesn’t have the discography for a full set yet. they’re about to do a performance at the mall of america, and their word of mouth seems to be good judging off of social media traction. i think they should collab with a bigger western artist tho
sameeee
They really need to lean towards something like Buttons… the performance on Dream Academy went viral and showcases more complex choreography. Also I think the songs / mv should have more of a storyline as that’s more popular in the west.
Honestly agree with this take but seeing as how they mentioned that Yoonchae is still a minor I think they’ll probably have to either wait on that idea until she’s of age or see how to explore that theme without sexualizing the girls too much
@@themusicnexus1240it can wait for another year... They have alot of concept that can be explore before they go to the sexy and more mature concept..
@themusicnexus1240 they can still do it if she agrees. But if not no ofc.
@@katgreer6113 I sorta disagree since a minor(in general) can't give consent, which is the excuse pdf file usually gives(this sidetracked a lot, but you get my point right?)

Ig...it just made me feel powerless though.
But dance moves idk...🤷♀️ but whatever.
touch was cute but we need something like buttons or work from home typa vibes next comeback. Anything but a cute concept if they wanna become mainstream
I think time will tell, since yc is still young they can lean into a more softer vibe
@@whoopthy ariana grande or blackpink concept will work then because a cute concept will not be well received and will not chart in the west unfortunately
@@Anonx000 Softer concept and a cute concept aren't the same thing. Many western artist's have a brighter vibe and are still popular. The key to that success is a good song that preferably goes viral, and they ride the success
nah touch was the best concept for them and they should stick with it until their youngest member becomes an adult and bc the concept actually fits them very well like they only need powerful songs but the concept is good as for now
@@pumpumrin I disagree I think they should take the fifth harmony or little mix route if they want to become mainstream and chart well in the west otherwise its not going to go well for them
2:17 I seriously don’t get WHY people think they aren’t supposed to do music shows or promote in Korea?? Idk why ppl think they’re gonna flop lmao (just to make sure you don’t think I’m saying you said this I’m not I’m saying I’ve seen ppl say this, None of this was directed towards you) This was a rant lmao I’m sorry 😅😭
some people want them to flop so bad, its honestly so sad cus these girls are soooo talented and unproblematic

Honestly I was so happy with the top 10 that I didn’t mind who debuted as long as my top 2 picks did but ALL 6 of mine did lmao 😭😭 (but I did vote for the other 4 girls tho) but honestly with the lineup now each member brings smth to the group that’s just perfect they all have the it factor
I really hope their companies don't waste it
And they have lore as eyekons yall forgot that part just sayin they should stick to it
They tapped in on it a lil bit in Touch but next comeback they should tap more into there lore I loved magical girls stories and anime as a kid and still like fantasy genre ❤❤
Their next comeback is going to be so important
SO glad someone else loves Debut the most- that BASS goddamn it sounds so good in my car!
Their full album will tell all though.
im so excited for katseyes future!
Me too I’m really excited for their future
7:45 they NEED to drop Lara’s remix to Touch! I need it NOW
I'm really excited for they're future releases.
@svt_kiof omg thanks
And having a desire to defend, protect, and champion the put down, especially if they’re completely undeservedly put down 😊
Great video, such a wise tip about authenticity!
Right now people only care about “Touch” which already has 90 Million Streams while their b-sides don’t even have 5 Million Streams 😅 if they wanna be selling out stadiums in less than 5 years which was said to be the goal then they need to develop musically as artists QUICKLY
need to switch concepts ASAP, cute concepts don’t sell in the west
They have minor literally yoonchae she is 17 untill she turns 18 they'll be safe with their songs and make the strong basement not too cutesy not too mature that's the best st strategy @@Anonx000
I wish they promote My way and Tonight I might more! These would capture western group fans who havent switched to kpop.
I'm very excited to see what they come up with!
loved this. I think youre right on the money with your predictions
Some songs i think they could go in the direction of:
• Positions by Ariana Grande
• Easy by LE SSERAFIM
• Needs by Tinashe
• Sour Candy by BP and Lady Gaga
Fire video as per usual! 🔥 thank you for summing up my thoughts and feelings into words because I’ve been thinking about this a lot but had no idea how to explain it
I want them to eagerly release good radio songs starting from their release.
Also, KATSEYE already made a formula of their own to pierce both market in KPOP and WEST
even people who are not into KPOP are tuning in for their music. Please support them more
They have the IT factor as a girl global group, so keep your hands down everybody.
@@vixxexo6855you’ve only mentioned well known artists, not the current artists that are topping the charts in 2024.

Yeyyyy Chaurjimi is back😂
i really love the other songs (not the singles) on the EP
I know it's never gonna happen now since after military service this chapter of BTS is gonna be over, but I can't help wanting Lara on Suchwita 😭
A girl can dream but it was a great era while it lasted 🥲
(correction: of course they'll keep making solo works, like they always have, but I think their primary focus will be BTS as a group. it's still a possibility that they will decide to keep the show going since it was so successful, but I think it's unlikely since Yoongi is already usually so busy with BTS activities and also doing a lot of heavy lifting with his production.)
I love video Essays, so Imagine my suprise having 3 Videos about katseye from people that all start with "I have no idea about kpop but I watched the docu on netflix so I need to talk about that:

totally agree
korean pop fans preach: they should not promote in korea but kpop idols will promote themselves in other countries.
Grammy sweep is a bit of a stretch ngl 😂 But I am with you on them having so much potential.
That is why there is no official position like main dancer, main vocal , visual, center etc but only the official leader.
i think that they should do what XG has done where they utilise the kpop industry to boost themselves but at some point distancing themself from kpop in genre. style of music and also how they choose to promote cause i'd say it's worked extremely well for XG and it really should be the go to strategy for any global groups coming out of korea
if the girls get to write their songs, they have to get paid. girl groups are meant to make money for their label, rarely make any money.
everyone saying they need to have a different concept to become mainstream in the west… have you seen how popular touch is? my friends who don’t even know who they are or anything about kpop know touch. it was all over tiktok. it’s going to be a dti emote(ok idk if that counts because it’s known that at least some of the devs like kpop but STILL). if you think they need to be “more mature” to make it in the west that says a lot about everyone’s lack of knowledge of the western industry. what about olivia rodrigo’s teen pop album that won 3 grammys, gave her a sold out arena tour, and was all over the radio and the internet for MONTHS? i’d say she was pretty successful, and if you listened to the entire katseye album, you’d see that it’s pretty similar. like tonight i might could literally be one of her songs
(also, i don’t think we need the 16 year old to have a mature concept yet thanks guys 😁)
Not the Australian accent
Australian accent approved by an Australian:)
Isn’t jyp also planning on debuting a Latin girl group 😭
i don't think that will happen anytime soon it might be an idea for now but if i remember correctly geffen records said they're risking everything to make this group, and their success will determine the rest. i also don't think any us label would lean into this idea easily.
I wouldn’t call Hozier celebrated in west, people here maybe know too sweet and take me to church. (I’m saying this as a hozier fan in the west)
Eh I would say he is. Most people recognize his stage name, he sold out (I think?) his most recent tour, and his songs pop up on all sorts of Spotify playlists … I guess it depends on how you define “celebrated” (also from a hozier fan in the west)
not first
I'm super confused what they're even aiming for, because their debut wasn't neither kpop to me, nor US pop. But that may just be me? I think they had a good b-side after that, but for now I don't have enough information to really be interested in this group. I do genuinely think that it's better to ultimately pick one side and stick to it. I don't think the in-between way will work.
tbh their ep was mid but their netflix doc, tiktoks and lives are fun and relatable i guess thats what attracting pple
Didn’t he criticize their marketing team like 1 month ago in another video? 😂bro
Even non believers will become believers cos you can't ignore success and good music these young ladies are also lovely hybe hardly miss 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
You are talking about US, not the WORLD. World is okay with kpop formula where artists don't create all of their songs. Only US fixating on this. Global is okay.
I'm sorry but after 20 years us music brainwashing, katseye are us pop and dat suck,I stop the us music for the kpop not for katseye
World doesn't revold just around u😂

Bro they just debuted it's their first album so it had to be a mini album my only concern it that i hope next the release music that is made to break into the west not a kpop song like touch and that their songs should be morethan 3 minutes
