Used to load produce up there. CHP frequently corraled multiple vehicles to issue tickets. The excessive fine sounds like the safety corridor which doubles fines and requires daytime headlights combined with school zone and a 55 mph zone dropping to a 30mph with the road still layed out with wide lanes and shoulders making the 30mph feel inappropriate. They also tend to designate work zones for an entire multi year multi phase section of road even if other than the begin work zone sign there is no sign of road work for 30 or more miles. . This doubles fines yet again. So any basic fine is up to 6x the base for safety corridor, work zone, and school zone. Then the state county and local governments all add surcharges. Two "serious" offenses 2 years, license gone. This being the first time I was charged with the two tickets in 2 years thing, had me pay them a $40 fine and privileges restored in NY. Massachusetts however has decided to permanently disqualify me from having a CDL which means no other state will allow me to have one either so I'm officially forbidden from working my legitimate profession, a much needed profession. Bruceville element of this whole thing in fact that at the time of Mike just qualification I had already taken care of the seat belt and suspended license citations both have been fully litigated, all fines paid, all penalties obligations met, driving privileges restored in New York ANDZ Massachusetts BOTH CASES CLOSED I HAVE ALREADY BEEN PUNISHED FOR THESE OFFENSES AND MET THE OBLIGATIONS. Massachusetts saw that allowed me to pay several hundred dollars in reinstatement fees gave me my license back and let me keep it for a year in which time I have received no citations no new offenses whatsoever nothing then they send me a letter saying as of tomorrow you are here by disqualified from holding a CDL and your class A license will be downgraded to class D. And for the sake of full disclosure I will admit that on paper & from a distance my driving record looks... Lengthy. But it's all administrative stuff like expired inspection sticker not getting a new inspection sticker when I buy a vehicle, suspended license or registration for not paying fine from other administrative citations but the fact is I have no felonies and I have never had a single speeding ticket never a single accident of any kind no DUI, no infractions on my record related to the safe operation of a motor vehicle of any kind yet I am expressly and permanently forbidden from ever being a truck driver when I have my wife & at home mother of our three children 10 5 and 9 months who completely upon me as their sole provider. I put the tire back on my car and set it back on the ground, so it would not be a danger to anyone. Evidently someone had seen me working on my car prior to me setting it back on the ground, and noticed that the car had been sitting in the driveway for several days without being moved. Long story short, a Policeman rang my doorbell, and asked me if my car was disabled because someone had observed the above facts. I told the officer that I had a problem with the wheel hub and had been working on it but had gotten I'll and had to pause it finishing the repairs until I felt better. The officer told me that it was illegal to park a disabled car in my driveway. I told them it was my own driveway, the car was registered, and licensed, was not an eyesore and no one would know just looking at it that it was disabled, so where did the city get off telling me that it was illegal to park my car in my driveway, on my private property? The officer told me it was illegal and I would be getting a ticket if the car was not drivable by that time. I had to finish the repairs while I was still sick, so that I could show the officer the car was operable when they returned. Made me madder than hell. Not as bad as this case, but still not right.

The similarity between some of these community rules and the rules of HOAs is interesting. One wonders if these cities have adopted similar rules because of complaints by residents.
As a lawyer myself in one of the countries of the Romano-Germanic legal system, this sounds crazy to me. Such fines violate a number of fundamental principles of law. 1) A person whose guilt is not related to a misdemeanor by direct or indirect intent, criminal self-confidence or criminal negligence cannot be fined. Even if an uncut front lawn is a crime, I cannot be punished if I was in a coma and could not take any action to avoid such a violation. 2) One and the same person cannot be fined several times for the same act. Even if it is lasting. Let's say I urinate in a public place - why not fine me for every second of the process or for every drop of urine? 3) A procedure that imposes obligations on a person without prior notification of such a person, cannot be considered legitimate.

Unfortunately at 40 years old that's all I know silly me for having not been simultaneously training and gaining years of experience in some other career field in anticipation of the day the government decides to shut me down & arbitrarily prohibit me from being a truck driver. Guess I should have known better... Especially in Massachusetts.
It's a city generating policy that let's them put a lean on their property to "seize" it later!!!!

@@guardrailbiter that too!!
Those laws are ridiculous. They don't make sense, except the city wants the money to give bonus to city executives.
Imagine being a code enforcement person...
These stories gives me full clarity on why the Killdozer was built and unleashed on the local government.
If we had a libertarian government without the two party system, we wouldn't have this problem.
Exfuckingactly
If she called multiple times and they wouldn't answer her come out then that's not her fault
I've had my car towed because I parked in the same spot every day. But the City of Sioux City used snow as proof your car is abandoned. Meaning if it snows on friday morning before going to work, then it becomes solid from cold weather. Then you park their friday night... Saturday afternoon, your car is towed.
In my small hometown, all it takes is a bribe to code enforcement for them to look the other way and issue a variance. Greed is king!
All political power comes from the barrel of a gun, Mao Tsudong
I was working on my car in the driveway. It was a problem with the wheel and hub.
I wasn't feeling well, so I left it in my driveway for three or four days.
Never open the door or talk to police.
When public servants command the public they are not servants use some logic with your reality, everybody.
The problem is because there is no consciousness among lawmakers at all. And the title "public servants" is just a mockery to the fact that they didn't really serve as public servants but more like accessories to selfish groups.

We need to get rid of these lawmakers that don’t make laws for the people.
So you voted Trump
Just what we need more nosy cops and prisons
@@flyingdutchman1352 I’m for 30% less government and government programs. Maybe you are on welfare. 😂
Thank you. I currently live on a minimal fixed income, paying mortgage, ect., doing my own repairs. Borough is leveraging a threat of $1,000.00/day, until I fix the facia of my back deck roof which is sagging and does need to be repaired. I have been swamped with medical, financial and other life concerns. There's more. Though, I was granted some leeway, I believe I have nearly exhausted that grace period.
Property “ownership” for tax cattle is a lie.
This should include civil asset forfeiture Taking your money with no crime being committed is the definition of excessive fines
The similarity between some of these community rules and the rules of HOAs is interesting. HOAs are often concerned about preserving property values of the members, and enforce rules that were intended to do this (but sometimes their enforcement is excessive).
European here. Same thoughts exactly!
Miami sounds like an HOA
Trial by jury and publicly accessible lawyer are needed in civil litigation like they are in criminal.
But under the 4th amendment, are we not secure in our belongings
LOL! Government is a criminal cult, No matter who writes these rights down the next A hole in power violates them. Laws are the Gun Free Zone sign before the mass murder event.
Scams are so prevalent in our world today its not surprising at all that out government would also implore scams like this, or taking someones home for $600 water bill and keeping the profits. You are getting it from all angles.
Yikes, gov needs to step off and stay away from innocent towns people. I still can't believe ppl advocate sooo strongly for more gov intervention, control, and taxes/fines.
Government is a cult, power corrupts, those who want power and control over others are the ones you should have shot.
That mayor needs to be voted out regardless of what the case does.
Good luck!!!! These code enforcement actions are disgusting.
The idea of the Dicktator code is disgusting. Public servants are not servants.
@@Barskor1 couldn’t agree with you more
Fees for provided services should be no more than the actual cost of providing those services!
Excessive fines aside, I’m curious if the cities can articulate a legitimate government concern for some of these issues based on keeping property values (and property taxes) elevated.
Property values are theoretical till the moment of finalized sale aka not a harm/crime for other people to have in your/who ever's opinion of "ugly property".
I'm glad I don't live in America, and in Florida in particular. These fines are outrageous, the Sytem is obviously WRONG.
The land of the free, with 1,000,000,000 rules!
What’s the difference, if you don’t mow the grass in the 10’ that the city owns around your house they will fine you. But your not allowed to put a tree or a basketball pole in the ground. It’s the fact that they hide the fines just like the cowards they are.
