@@antediluvianclockwork9769 It means very good. I believe it comes from comparing how high things are... A notch is a line you draw on a wall. The tallest would have the highest line, the top notch.
Li Yi Xuan's got a pretty packed and interesting day. You'd imagine a young person working an office job must be a boring story, but the company's cozy culture, her commute to work, and the activities she's engaged in throughout the day all make up for the experience I can barely imagine myself having in a much longer time. A very nice video. Best of luck to the Born in the morning Happiness and this channel : )

Wow, I'm still pretty "shocked" about what I saw (in a good way !) The rythm is really intense (but I really like it), the music is per-fect. A little surprised that Mamahuhu is making that kind of video, but I actually also like the fact that you can have multiple video formats on a channel, so.... as someone said, I miss the humor, but wouldn't mind some other episodes like this on a punctual basis (like, one every 4 or 5 humor videos) Thank you anyway !
Used Didi english version thinking it was like uber... We had to pay for the full fare prior to booking but then the driver tried to charge us more after the ride then reported us for not paying his extra fee, so we couldn't use the app anymore. Dunno if any other people have the same experience? I suspect the chinese version expects you to pay after in which case, isn't it exactly the same as using a taxi?
Mamahuhu thanks for the reply! In Singapore, electric bikes and scooters are banned from the roads, especially main roads. Now, some types are even banned from pavements and walkways. Many people, especially foreigners and expats brazenly flout this law though. They ride on the roads at their own peril. I just gasped in shock and worry watching her. I guess things are different in China.
I really liked this and would like to see more. I'd also like to hear more about expat startups in Shanghai/China in general. How common are they? I thought you had to partner with a Chinese national and give them 51% ownership or something?
You're never forced to do so. It's a way foreign nationals try to skirt around China's policies to be treated as a "domestic" firm rather than a "foreign" firm. Foreign firms, in any country, will always be subject to extra checkups and fees that a local firm will not. Some countries, such as the US, outright ban foreign firms/workers from operating on its soil if an equivalent US firm/worker is available. In China, exceptions are made for free trade zones, but obviously that means you will be facing competition from all the foreign firms trying to start in China. The other exception is if you are providing a service local firms cannot produce. The two most prominent examples are foreign language services and foreign food services.
