Thank you so much for this video. Being that I am a Chicagoan, I have seen the river dyed, but, I had never seen it being done. It was amazing to watch them adding the dye. And, you give an up close view. I actually felt like I was there. Thanks again for a simply wonderful video. I just found your channel and I subscribed. 👍🐦 ☺️

@Mr International What exactly are you saying is, " getting out of hands"? The city of Chicago dyeing the Chicago River green, for St. Patrick's Day, isn't something new. I guess if you aren't from Chicago, you will never understand.
spoonrice because I appreciate your time that you spend on my channel eather while you watch my videos or commenting... I dont love everyone:) If someone is trying to abuse me than I’m not touching it:)
The "dye" is a vegetable based powder that is mixed with the water, intended to find leaks in underwater pipes. It starts off orange and is safe to eat with a spoon.
The "dye" is a vegetable based powder that is mixed with the water, intended to find leaks in underwater pipes. It starts off orange and is safe to eat with a spoon. Its done on on St Patrick's Day out of tradition. It used to be a gorilla operation unsanctioned by the city, done by Irish members of the plumbers union to pay tribute to their homeland. Mix up a pink dye yourself and start a new tradition if it bothers you so much.
R. Soles they say its eco friendly... I’m sure every factory in Chicago releases more destructive stuff into that river. I have to learn more about that green stuff they’re releasing here

@TAPP Channel: No building on this stretch of the river discharges anything harmful, and has not for decades. Many of the newer constructions actually use river water to cool the building and flush toilets. Get far enough down the south branch and there is some industry but they too are severely limited in what can be put in the water. The Chicago combined sewer system however does still discharge under every bridge span, but it is heavy treated and only spills raw material after heavy rainfall. Google is your friend.
Probably just because green isn't the natural color. Many paranoid people out there complain about altering nature, even if no living creature's life is sacrificed.
Its harmful for animals in water of course they are not used to with ecofriendly stuff like that .already water is so polluted and doing it intentionally is worse I guess.

Why no one is concerned about river ecosystem and probably a lot of fish dying from chemical colours?
Because the dye IS safe for native/local marine. They took that into consideration.

🇮🇪🇱🇷
I was supposed to watch this river turn green this year but it got cancelled all bc of a weak and overhyped virus.
wouldn't this stuff be bad for the fish and the ecosystem or something 😐😑
Probably no worse than the shit that flows through it every other day.
they say its a eco friendly liquid
