I really feel like the state of 5.45 this wipe has solidified it as my go to caliber. The humble 74 has very similar close range performance with much better long range performance while also being one of the few weapons with optics available at LL1 traders. Not to mention that ammunition can be found commonly in the world, nothing beats free 5.45 BS.
@@drunkpunk5393 I'd love to see you land so many more shots on target at 200 meters with an ump. At barrel stuffing range the recoil differences do not matter. The ump is shorter, it's snappier, but for pure utility nothing is going to dethrone the 74 this wipe as a budget option

ive just started using it again with APs and it mostly slaps. I usually top pack 10-15 APs because the pen is going to matter a lot less if I get to the lower end of the mag and the extra damage seems to help. Only been a problem for me once so far when I ran into a three man. first two went down like swiss cheese but the end of the mag just didnt have enough oomph to put down the last guy through his nappy. luckily he was not a good shot and i managed to pull off a reload while he sprayed his whole mag in my general direction and I got the third kill. but it was hairy there for a minute. i feel like a full first mag of APs and then top packing the rest is the best plan . at least while i build up a stock of APs to use. Whenever I watch a video of yours, I feel like I'm sitting down for a university lecture. It comes across so clear when you present it in practical terms and examples. It really helps tear down the shooter mentality of "Ok what the hell, I put (this many) bullets on him and he somehow lived?" with lesser ammo
5:45 I stumbled across killa peaking double doors in one of the top food shops and somehow tap him twice to the head using the UMP with AP. At first I thought he was just a regular scav when I flicked to him yelling. Felt very lucky that I was using the AP rounds and didnt hit his visor when I looted him and realised it was him.
This video was a good way for me to mentally reset in between loading screens while trying to get Tarkov Shooter Part 3 done on Factory. Your video on AP-M helped a lot, especially with what distances were usable! I eventually just started taking only one mag with AP-M by the end and expecting to die if I had to reload. : )
cool tip if you dont have a supressor on the ump and fold the stock (must be on the gun and folded cannot remove stock for this to work) you can sprint and you hold it with one hand, but you also make your recoil mad
I know it doesn't matter in the game and probably won't ever but acp stands for automatic colt pistol and there are multiple calibers in that family. .45 acp, .38 acp, .380 acp, .32 acp, and .25 acp. All were designed by John Browning in the very end of the 1800s and first decade of the 1900s. Referring to one as acp could be confusing in real life where the other ones exist, especially.380 which is still very popular in the US.

I killed a dude with a silenced ump at new gas. He had 4 mags filled w ap. Went from new gas to old gas to drop my last marker and wiped a frigging 4 man man with the dudes ump. They just kept rolling around the corner 1 after another thinking it would yield different results. Can't wait to unlock 45 ap.
Anyway SMGs are good enough to use all time if you aim for head, with low recoil of UMP or high RPM with MP5 or etc. I use MP5SD and UMP45 and both are good enough to use, unless your FOE don't use any visor I think the only problem of UMP45 is it's magazine...25, too small for 1vs2 or more.
The UMP is just the second perfect F-U gun. If you go up against it, you are either dead or walking away with 2 heavy bleeds, 3 blacked limbs, and a fracture. If you are solo and you face a team with them, it can be really hard to fight the second guy when your arm is hanging by a tendon and a shirt sleeve.
Well, that or any semi shotgun with magnum buck. Like ha congrats on killing me I got that from a scav, have fun with the sucking chest wounds and shattered femurs
Hey Gigabeef, I had an idea for a topic of one of your videos I would love to see. I've tried researching if anyone else has talked about it but I haven't found anything. It has to do with the way buckshot works in the game. I noticed the other day that the way the buckshot and flechette projectiles work is as the distance increases the number of projectiles coming out of your shotgun increases as well. So at close range it comes out as one projectile, at mid range it multiplies into 3, and at long range it turns into 8 (for magnum and flechette). Maybe you could make a video about how this effects the use of shotguns in a fight? One thing I noticed is that while the damage still stacks between the one projectile and three projectiles it doesn't account for the penetration of each projectile. So when I shoot my teammate with flechette at close range it brings his armor down to somewhere in the 50's which is what I would expect. But, because it is now only one projectile with 31 pen it obviously doesn't make it through the armor. However, if it was actually working as it would in real life I would expect that as the darts hit the armor and start lowering it's health some of those darts would actually make it through. If you think this is a good topic I would love to hear you talk about it!
@@reedoken6143 I may be misunderstanding you but if you take a shotgun and try it you will see there is only one projectile up close, 3 projectiles at mid range and then 8 at a longer range. You can test this by going into offline and shooting a scav point blank and then leaving the raid. At the end of raid screen it will show you only hit the scav once but if you shoot it farther out you'll get around 8 hits depending on how many of the projectiles hit it.
@@Gigabeef So I went through and tested it again and you're right that the game will still sometimes register 8 hits at point blank. But I still believe the game doesn't register all pellets all the time and I believe when it registers 8 at point blank it is counting the pellets hitting multiple body parts. The way I tested this was by shooting scavs and then comparing what my mastering level was at before and what it was at afterwards. Because shotgun mastering counts each pellet hitting a target as one point, the difference between my mastering level before and after hitting the scav will be the number of projectiles the game registers as actually hitting the scav. I recorded me doing this if you want to see it I can send it to you. My logic may be wrong but with flechette, if 8 darts are hitting the target at once shouldn't some of those darts penetrate through the armor since as they hit they will decrease the armor health points leading to darts having a higher chance of getting through?

I just saw some interesting points about weapons all having their hidden stats. such as convergence, recoil angle, and recoil dispersion, which can explain why Scar L has the best recoil value. Maybe you would like to go through these features? These stats can be seen in the offline version EFT.
There's a few vids out there on it, personally I'm a bit uncomfortable going into excruciating detail because of BSG's attitude towards data mining/information on that level getting released!
Almost all the UMPs late last wipe I saw had that Monstrum Compact 2x. It was surprising because I, too, thought that that sight was MADE for that gun. It offers the perfect balance of your actual, applicable range, while not depriving you of rather-close quarters combat capability.

Probably not worth it but some of those tiny optics you can put on a like 7k rouble riser. Still should be 1-2 ergo better than a eotech and I think possibly about same cost (FF3 + riser vs eot price)
As a veteran player I see where you’re coming from but regular players aim for the chest, and good veteran players aim for nothing but the head and doing this using ap works perfectly fine until we get max graders for the Meta guns
i really dont understand why people use and consider the ump meta, its a solid smg that is popular but i think others are better, id rather take a mp9 for close range and a mp7 or p90 if i want to spray at longer ranges
I think it's used so much because it's a great way to get the loyalty level spending goal for peacekeeper. There really isn't anything else other than the ump worth buying from him before loyalty 3 imo.
It feels like rate of fire matters more than the round itself for recoil right now, which feels weird. I think that is going to need work in the future. Also, theres just something aesthetically pleasing about the Kobra on a UMP, the way the circular elements match
I like 1911 or the m45 with the 11 round mag as a true backup pistol. Decent enough to finish off pmcs in an oh shit situation but cheap enough to not care if you die

I get into fights with black arms with ADS right at the payers head but always tank. Would be interested to see what the single shot and spray is actually doing.

PP-19 used to be my go-to weapon for early wipe until they fucked it over. Even into mid-game it was extremely effective due to it’s super cheap weapon-exclusive suppressor and AK platform, it was my little gentleman’s AK that shot like a laser beam. Anyone not wearing a face shield would be dead in a second, and back then you could get tons of AP 6.3 early on so even class 4 stood little chance.
6:18 that shot on your leg was broken. It was nowhere near your leg on your screen but apparently you were still visible on his screen. This isn't even something that happens once in a while, it's not a hiccup, it's literally just the way it is all the time. It's like the hitboxes are always .5 seconds behind what they should be and it ruins the immersion and playability of the game. BSG needs to fix that before ANYTHING else, including the AI. If I'm watching a corner, knowing a guy is gonna come behind it, I should be able to instantly headshot him 90% of the time when he peaks unless my aim is bad. But there is a subconscious understanding in my mind that KNOWS that when someone is moving, they are "slippery" and I can't just shoot where I see them. Everything is .5 seconds behind so everything is just fucked up and you can't react properly because there's that element of wondering where the hitboxes ACTUALLY are and where they will ACTUALLY go. You need to be able to react to what you see. Not see something and guess whats going to happen .25 seconds in the future and do all this mental gymnastics. Just see, aim, shoot.
You can shoot what you see on your screen, this effect is just classic "desync/latency". You don't register the effects of their shooting until quite a bit later
$8 per round for a mid tier bullet? Nikita just wants no lifers to run around with armour that normal people cant even damage. why would I use 45 for that price when I could use a much cheaper and more effective rifle round?
@@ScuffedCamper I just stop playing until the next wipe when i start seeing faceshields. For me, early wipe pvp is the only pvp worth anything in this game. This game has the most retarded damage model and armour system I have ever seen in any game, not to mention the most disgustingly unbalanced.
Scav on reserve and check all the wooden crates. There are 4 around the helicopter, 3 on the black pawn and the shed connected to that building and 3 more down in the command bunker. Also check all drawers for matches, gas analysers and flash drives. This way you also get all cigarettes for Bad Habit.
The recoil on the Vector is so, so, soooo dumb. The whole point of that gun is that it is designed around a recoil system unlike any other that reduces felt recoil to almost nothing. IRL it can do full-auto mag dumps while barely moving in the shooter's hands. It makes no sense that it has significantly more recoil than the UMP or any other subgun in the game for that matter - 'horizontal' or otherwise. If it's "too good" ... make it more expensive, make it more rare, or take it out of the game. Don't just arbitrarily change its performance in a way that runs counter to the logic and realism of the game. The whole magic of Tarkov over other tactical FPS games is the relatively realistic portrayal of gunfights, weapon performance, ballistics, body armor, and wounding. It's the best parts of mil-sim without all the boring parts of mil-sim. The farther they get down this path of arbitrarily changing weapon performance just to "change up the meta" the more steps they're taking down the wrong path. It's a lazy and arbitrary approach to balancing. Stick to realistic portrayals of weapon performance, do the balancing through availability.
I hate the ump. I’d rather use the 45 vector I was on labs and I died to a guy with an ump he had the new lvl6 armor on if had my vector i would’ve been set. The vector is the best gun in labs
I started to really play this game at the end of last wipe and was hoping so much that the game will get way better for a beginner with a new wipe. Yeah well not really. It is more than just annoying to die 95% of the time because people are just spamming MP's like the UMP. Even on damn woods you don't get spared with these and it meanwhile reaches a point where it is just not funny anymore.
You guys forget one crucial thing, point fire, recoil control is not everything. This wipe i managed to drastically improve (finally) and win many of my pvp fights by simply point firing even with high recoil guns like asval, mdr and even the sa58, "aiming" at this point for me feels useless except if you are shooting at someone in the distance who is standing still and is not aware of your presence, but most people tend to move and rush anyways that means just go with your peek and point fire you will be surprised how many fights you can take
I love youtubers that bring up stats and fail at reading them, then talk out of their ass. Look at the armor damage on the ump, that's why FMJ is a good all-arounder. It absolutely destroys armor. That cute little clip you posted of you dying on customs, you hit that guy's arms with most of your shots.
UMP is good, because every rails are in stock and recoil is very good, but actualy is very big problem find ammo, what is very rare in raid and if you will out ammo u are in bad situation, because u must use scav weapons what are very bad on long distance 😅 If you want use SMG with sniper rifle is better option KEDR or MP5 with HP ammo what have good frag. and kill player on heavy bleeding. Best distance for kedr combat is max. 25m and for M5 max. 50m Better option and cheap is AK74u, because good ammo is everywhere and is good for 100m combat and find good ammo is easy like find 9x18 at scav 😂
or....you could just shoot them in the face.... ya know cause armor, and cause torso shots are trash after all the changes to ammo and hp pools. i still remember the good ol days when double taps would drop people without armor...if anything this game is losing its "hardcore" edge and becoming a lil more like COD everyday.

early, mid, late wipe are terms generally used to describe the progression of the wipe and playerbase as a whole, not an individual's progression. the terms are useful to describe an average players equipment and goals in raid. if it is early wipe for normal people it is early wipe for everyone, but there will always be outliers, who are ahead of the average
its already outdated... i have killed multiple people with slicks and that new lvl 5 rigs with the black helm with face shield at lvl 5 with over 102 armor... and i was using BT rounds. with a shorty mosin from fence. so.... yeah. he was lvl43 and a streamer. ;P
Ah sweet, so now I can look forward to facing the players who can buy class 5 armour from traders and carry laser beams, while I get facefucked after shooting a guy 20 times with ps. and they wonder why people prefer early wipe.
@@Red_Lion2000 yep I was only lvl 13. I cant play all day and night but that guy could I guess. Also gate keeping the good ammo away from fresh starts hinders the chance of winning that fight. But BT seems to work good.
@@n0xxm3rcyxx I just stop playing after a few weeks and wait until next wipe. Tarkov is becoming less and less fun and more frustrating to the point where it just isnt worth it anymore. When I play hunt showdown I have infinately more fun and dont get frustrated at all, because there is no bullshit broken ironman armour and people die when you shoot them. Tarkov is the ONLY game that actually makes me mad, not because its hard, but because of the sheer amount of unfair/broken bullshit that makes you feel cheated upon death.
The automatic recoil control seriously ruins the game and the UMP is one of the worst examples as to why. That shit needs to be removed so the gunplay is more realistic and skill-based.

the new SAG 5.45 semi automatic rifle is soooo good with BS rounds and a monstrum compact

Some advise, if you don't want to dump too much on the suppressors the .45 vector flash hider works on the threaded barrel

Although the Match FMJ doesn't pen level 4 very well, the damage of the round will kill players just from the blunt damage before it actually pens

Hmm I don't think this is the case, as I shot a scav point blank for testing purposes with 7mm the other day and it registered 8 hits

As the wipe progresses, I usually swap to the Vector and Hydrashok rounds. You absolutely erase people with leg shots.

You can get a VSS/VAL decently cheap. Got a 100% durability for 40k. SP-5 is available at Prapor 2, and is comparable to 45 AP

That was my thinking too. The ump is best because the low recoil and fire rate let you laser beam heads so armor level doesnt matter until altyns.
I guess veterans can make that determination for themselves, this one is more for the regular players :)
i really dont understand why people use and consider the ump meta, its a solid smg that is popular but i think others are better, id rather take a mp9 for close range and a mp7 or p90 if i want to spray at longer ranges
P90 and MP7 cost way more to run and the MP9 is basically worthless past point blank. UMP does everything decently at a way lower cost

I think it's used so much because it's a great way to get the loyalty level spending goal for peacekeeper. There really isn't anything else other than the ump worth buying from him before loyalty 3 imo.
Mp9 is probably the best gun for factory in the game, maybe besides .45 vector or ash12. Absolute leg muncher

It feels like rate of fire matters more than the round itself for recoil right now, which feels weird. I think that is going to need work in the future.

Yeah it has a massive impact, I think it's because each round's recoil was increased a lot with 12.12 so the RPM became more meaningful than before

I get into fights with black arms with ADS right at the payers head but always tank. Would be interested to see what the single shot and spray is actually doing.

PP-19 used to be my go-to weapon for early wipe until they fucked it over.
Even into mid-game it was extremely effective due to it’s super cheap weapon-exclusive suppressor and AK platform, it was my little gentleman’s AK that shot like a laser beam. Anyone not wearing a face shield would be dead in a second, and back then you could get tons of AP 6.3 early on so even class 4 stood little chance.

6:18 that shot on your leg was broken. It was nowhere near your leg on your screen but apparently you were still visible on his screen. This isn't even something that happens once in a while, it's not a hiccup, it's literally just the way it is all the time. It's like the hitboxes are always .5 seconds behind what they should be and it ruins the immersion and playability of the game. BSG needs to fix that before ANYTHING else, including the AI. If I'm watching a corner, knowing a guy is gonna come behind it, I should be able to instantly headshot him 90% of the time when he peaks unless my aim is bad. But there is a subconscious understanding in my mind that KNOWS that when someone is moving, they are "slippery" and I can't just shoot where I see them. Everything is .5 seconds behind so everything is just fucked up and you can't react properly because there's that element of wondering where the hitboxes ACTUALLY are and where they will ACTUALLY go. You need to be able to react to what you see. Not see something and guess whats going to happen .25 seconds in the future and do all this mental gymnastics. Just see, aim, shoot.
You can shoot what you see on your screen, this effect is just classic "desync/latency". You don't register the effects of their shooting until quite a bit later

Scav on reserve and check all the wooden crates. There are 4 around the helicopter, 3 on the black pawn and the shed connected to that building and 3 more down in the command bunker. Also check all drawers for matches, gas analysers and flash drives. This way you also get all cigarettes for Bad Habit.

The recoil on the Vector is so, so, soooo dumb. The whole point of that gun is that it is designed around a recoil system unlike any other that reduces felt recoil to almost nothing. IRL it can do full-auto mag dumps while barely moving in the shooter's hands. It makes no sense that it has significantly more recoil than the UMP or any other subgun in the game for that matter - 'horizontal' or otherwise. If it's "too good" ... make it more expensive, make it more rare, or take it out of the game. Don't just arbitrarily change its performance in a way that runs counter to the logic and realism of the game. The whole magic of Tarkov over other tactical FPS games is the relatively realistic portrayal of gunfights, weapon performance, ballistics, body armor, and wounding. It's the best parts of mil-sim without all the boring parts of mil-sim. The farther they get down this path of arbitrarily changing weapon performance just to "change up the meta" the more steps they're taking down the wrong path. It's a lazy and arbitrary approach to balancing. Stick to realistic portrayals of weapon performance, do the balancing through availability.
I hate the ump. I’d rather use the 45 vector I was on labs and I died to a guy with an ump he had the new lvl6 armor on if had my vector i would’ve been set. The vector is the best gun in labs
I started to really play this game at the end of last wipe and was hoping so much that the game will get way better for a beginner with a new wipe. Yeah well not really. It is more than just annoying to die 95% of the time because people are just spamming MP's like the UMP. Even on damn woods you don't get spared with these and it meanwhile reaches a point where it is just not funny anymore.

You guys forget one crucial thing, point fire, recoil control is not everything.
This wipe i managed to drastically improve (finally) and win many of my pvp fights by simply point firing even with high recoil guns like asval, mdr and even the sa58, "aiming" at this point for me feels useless except if you are shooting at someone in the distance who is standing still and is not aware of your presence, but most people tend to move and rush anyways that means just go with your peek and point fire you will be surprised how many fights you can take

UMP is good, because every rails are in stock and recoil is very good, but actualy is very big problem find ammo, what is very rare in raid and if you will out ammo u are in bad situation, because u must use scav weapons what are very bad on long distance 😅 If you want use SMG with sniper rifle is better option KEDR or MP5 with HP ammo what have good frag. and kill player on heavy bleeding. Best distance for kedr combat is max. 25m and for M5 max. 50m Better option and cheap is AK74u, because good ammo is everywhere and is good for 100m combat and find good ammo is easy like find 9x18 at scav 😂

Clips from early wipe? Wtf, all streamers not late mid wipe or something? Its still early wipe for normal people, as evident in the kills on interchange
early, mid, late wipe are terms generally used to describe the progression of the wipe and playerbase as a whole, not an individual's progression. the terms are useful to describe an average players equipment and goals in raid. if it is early wipe for normal people it is early wipe for everyone, but there will always be outliers, who are ahead of the average

its already outdated... i have killed multiple people with slicks and that new lvl 5 rigs with the black helm with face shield at lvl 5 with over 102 armor... and i was using BT rounds. with a shorty mosin from fence. so.... yeah. he was lvl43 and a streamer. ;P

Tarkov is becoming less and less fun and more frustrating to the point where it just isnt worth it anymore.
When I play hunt showdown I have infinately more fun and dont get frustrated at all, because there is no bullshit broken ironman armour and people die when you shoot them.
Tarkov is the ONLY game that actually makes me mad, not because its hard, but because of the sheer amount of unfair/broken bullshit that makes you feel cheated upon death.
