There were NO poisonous reptiles on Guam when my family live there in the 1960s. All the danger was in the ocean. The brown snakes came into the country when they began commercial air flight which also began the demise of the island. The US saved Guam from the terror of Japanese invasion during WWIl. Then the Japanese tourists invaded in the late 1970s
That seemed to end quite abruptly.
Tell me about it
Not very interesting facts - Very disappointed that Nat Geo would put out such a weak video lacking so much info.
No info about the incredible history of this island? like being discovered by Spanish sailors, and then becoming part of the USA after the Spanish-American war in 1898?? Just info about snakes and drugged rats?? Lol Natgeo wow
The Island was discovered by Chamorro
@@unaiapaka1646 If it wasn't for the Spanish, the Chamorro would still wear nothing but a cloth around their waste. Thus, the Spanish discovered it for the civilised world.
The Spanish didn’t discover iGuam just like captain cook didn’t discover Hawaii
@@generalripper7528 So you're still saying that the Spanish still didn't discover Guam. Shut up with that bs bruh
How are you gonna say all of this and not mention Guam's a modern-day colony of the USA though? 🤔 huh...
if you know how to read it says that at 0:17
They could have done MUCH better at the vital facts for Guam. Maybe something about the marine life or fisherman since North Korea is gonna be targeting the waters of Guam? Maybe some facts on the specific shoreline that will be effected? Someone didn't do their research...
Ships going around during and after WW2 used water as ballast in ships that were empty. They'd dump the water as their ships filled up with men or equipment, dumping evasive species all over the Pacific.
First Russia has helped us out by cutting our diplomatic payroll, now Kim Jung Un wants to help with the Brown Tree Snake problem.
....before it get destroyed .
I think given current events I would rather know about the US bases there rather than about the snakes.
I for one being from Guam ever since I was born until I was 10 I only knew 1 fact that was mentioned in this video
Why did we need to know the last two? but thanks for the vid.
kim: wow! tanks for the information i didnt now that, i was sure its one big base military!
so there a mack ther?
At least people know more about Guam now, probably good tourism ad???
Guam facts they have the most massage parlors/gun ranges i have ever seen for such a small place
LOL
I live in Guam though.
And the whole North Korea thing is a bit depressing.
surprise fact 6: N.k. nuked it.
commenter: No they...
*N.k. launches nuke*
Nat Geo: As you were saying?
Luckily, North Korea's targeting tech is still way behind, and the only safe place to be, really, is wherever they are aiming.
I do hope you're correct.
I can't wait to go!
So let's say the island is nuked and the island recovers in the future to have some or most of the animal species to have survived including the brown snake. Would it still be considered an invasive species then?
Guam being the size it is nothing will survive after a nuke
❤️🇬🇺💯
😱
Who the fuck's idea was it to drop dead poison filled mice? Snakes see heat lol!
"5 Fact you should know about Guam" before it gets blown up.
Its not getting nuked
I live at Guam and I don't care about snakes or nuclear bombs.
The drops were conducted in a fenced property on a controlled population to study the efficacy of toxic drops on eradicating snakes. no such attempt has been made on the whole of the island.
Well, they say you don't know what you've got until you lose it.
Music?
and what about the jellyfish and sharks? are they nice too?

Guam looks so beautiful! It's a shame North Korea is threatening to wipe it off the map.. :(
Joni Cholula yeah because of our child president
Sad they didnt do it
Guam is a tiny island, missiles will miss their target... :)
Information so short.
They should try nuking the snakes , maybe that would work?
nice..... video?
Five facts about Guam before it is too late.
why are those snakes become destructive to like what?
Native species, duh.
Fruitarian The lack of information regarding Guam is really disheartening. Considering I call it my home. The brown tree snake was an accidental introduced species... hence invasive and decimated the endemic bid species found here... these birds have no natural predator on this island... until the snake arrived
How many possibilities do think are feasible before you can guess yourself?
In Hawaii, it is just the opposite. They introduced the mongoose, and they killed all the snakes!
I live there........
Cool Make the video longer!
Un guame dehay viene la palabra un guame
oh, ok
well that ended prematurely
Did you say Guam?
Ohh you meant that soon to be radioactive waste land.
Everything eats mice, why would they posin every omnivore on the island?
Sadly that is going to become hell by the nokor :(
"Bubble guam"

Guam was spanish for more 3 centuries, but it's not important right ?
Why north Korea why ?
Bye Guam!
really disappointed in this video. so much more could've been said about guam.
....before it's all destroyed.
why did they wanted to kill the snakes???
hahahahaha...but that snake must have slipped from their hand
FREE GUAM!! 🇬🇺
Right after the whole thing with North Korea and Guam National Geographic uploads this. Coincidence? I don't really care.
the Chinese have a missile named after the island THE GUAM KILLER
How you just gonna end it right there? Tf?!
Bye bye Guam. Our baby in chief sends his regards.

So beautiful-ish and about to be destroyed maybe too...
Philippines has Historical Claimed with Guam and Palau.
AYAYAYA REPRESENT GUAM!! LMFAO
To review: The island is quite small and very far away; is largely populated by people you wouldn't be perfectly comfortable with; hasn't been a part of the U.S. for very long; and is infested with not only snakes but also rats. Thanks NG. And not even one nice thing about it did you say. What's your angle?
Truly a pathetic time for humanity.
Your name ain't much better tbh...
