Daemon is my favorite character. When my family and I watched episode 10, they didn't understand why Rhaenyra was trying not to fight. She wants peace and that's understandable, but the Greens have taken her throne. What other negotiations. Daemon was right in this episode. We need to do everything quickly. The moment when he strangled her, he wanted to bring her to her senses (although it was bad, but you need to understand that this is not Disney). But she is not allowed to go limp. He understands that weakness will kill her and all of them. And he and the people need a resolute queen.
Considering all that was revealed about Otto's protracted modus operandi in episode 9, had Rhae agreed and bent the knee to Otto's "guarantees", I highly, highly suspect -- in fact I'm willing to wager -- that he would, soon enough, have her executed in the middle of the night without even an inkling of remorse.
Daemon's attitude in episode 10 is more fan service than strategic intelligence : In the book, Daemon is fully aware that the pitiful assembly gathered at Dragonstone is no match for House Hightower alone. He himself recognizes that the Blacks do not have the strength to seize King's Landing, opposes the use of dragons and only hopes that Aegon and Aemond will be reckless enough to attack first. Now, if we talk about the show, I think Rhaenyra and Alicent are two mirror character : Rhaenyra invents a moral duty to convince herself that she wants the throne, even though she knows deep down that she does not have the skills, and that she unconsciously hopes to get rid of this heavy inheritance. Conversely, Alicent, the daughter of a second son, suffocates in her role as wife and develops an unconscious desire to sit on the Iron Throne herself, because she knows deep down that she has the skills and mentality to rule. They are each the heirs of their fathers: Otto Hightower, a man who has all the skills to rule, but not the birth, and Viserys Targaryen, who has the birth, but not the skills. I even suspect Martin of having himself developed the Targaryens and the Hightowers as two mirror houses : Prudence versus ambition, the fire that burns versus the fire that guides, madness versus knowledge, exile versus rootedness, the ephemeral versus the lasting. Rhaenyra's attitude is easily explained: by seizing the throne, the Greens have in some way proven that they are more politically astute than she will ever be. So why fight for something you wouldn't know what to do with if you had it ? She knows, unconsciously, that things are in their place.
People complain about morality, but point with this Show is that they're all bad and it's about rooting for your fav war criminal and Daemon is mine 🖤 Best character. Best Targaryen. Book and Show.

Beyond Daemons charms i can see how right he was when he told Viserys the truth about the hand, he was also right when he told Rhaenyra to crush rebellion, i understand she wanted peace but Otto betrayed her and Viserys while crowning someone who doesnt even deserve the throne and didnt want it. If it wasnt for Rhaenys they would have kept on thinking that Viserys was alive, it is so sad that the two sides of the family had a bad relationship
