I feel like we’re living in an alternate timeline where this never happened. I feel like the greatness of this performance should have changed the world more than it did. 🙃
I feel like songs that are important or moving to us are like "container ships" in time. They are kind of always "happening" and they contain all the things, memories and emotions that constellated around the time you experienced the song.
I will forever be mad that they only have one album. I've been listening to this for weeks. The musical layering is so complex and brings my ears so much joy.
+chris smith Not real well, and I have to disagree about the audio quality/mixing when it comes to her vocals; i feel like she is pushed into the background by every other instrument.
Heh, true Paul, but she has a mic and thus they should have been able to boost her either during the show or when they put together the video, whichever place they "balanced" all of the inputs.
That transition between Slow Motion and Blue and White is like heaven, lost inside the grey area between love and loss. Absolutely astonishing. Amazing.
Saw them at Shaky Knees a few years ago. Unbelievable live show, enchanting vocals, really full and multi-layered sound. I also love how they are a young, technical group without being ostentatious. Truly rare. Their performance represents so many hours of practice and dedication. If they come within a few hours of your city, I strongly recommend seeing them.
This is pure feel good music. and its not generated in a big LA studio to be shoved into the minds of the masses via the radio. It comes from simple places. Wisconsin for Christ's Sake. Too beautiful to miss.
It’s 2021 and I just found this song and let me tell you, this is absolutely incredible compared to the garbage that’s out there today. So refreshing to hear and kudos to Audiotree with the amazing mix.
Yeah shes beautiful. Now let us talk about music, that band is fucking killing the song. Pianist, drummer, bass/other, mr.banjo.... everyone the entire band is fantastic.
This is the best comment ever. Nailed it. This whole band is amazing. She is totally awesome but the atmosphere they create for her is as beautiful as her voice. I loved this band so much.
This was wonderfully composed. They're all so young. Like, my age young, but they're doing something and I'm not. Anyway, this is amazing and I am in love. Her voice is like velvet.
scifiNotSyfyFan Lisa Lisa lol I'm still working on "doing something"... Working retail and not being in school is gonna kill me if I don't change it soon!
Leann Bennett That is a good mind set to have, to want to better yourself. I feel the same way working in banquets for five years. I hope you find the motivation to get where you want to be.
Her voice sounds better in the audiotree video than the production release. Blue and white also sounds much better and slower than the deluxe release. Would love to see them live in person.
Still can’t believe these guys aren’t still playing!! I’m so bummed I didn’t get to see them live. Love there music it’s so rich and unique! Can’t believe it’s been since 2017 since they parted ways. There music is timeless…still love it!! Plz come back and do more tours!! Love you guys!!
You guys as a band have the most natural chemistry I've seen since I fell in love..... you all are amazing musicians and express yourself as such!!! Thank you!!! Please!!! Come to Colorado when you can, it would be an inspiration to experience your energy live!!! (The Fort Collins area preferably... but I'll take what I/you/we can get!!!! LOVE
John Soriano they are touring with paolo nutini. i saw them 9/17, they will be in NY again!!! its on my daughters shirt....check paolo's tour schedule. i think it's like next week....
Hey John, I checked up on it again. PHOX is indeed touring with Nutini. Sporadically. You must see them on 9/22. That's in two days. I expect a full report and please ask them why no Seattle?!
they are very talented, saw them 9/17/14 when they opened for paolo nutini...catch them if you can. monica i hope you can get over what seems like stage fright, because you are a superior talent....
I'm sad Phox are no more but happy that Monica is doing well. This performance hit me when you first uploaded it and I keep coming back all these years later
so this is my 100000 time watching this video and I just now noticed that during the clarinet solo @2:23 the guitarist playing the black telecaster switches to a bass effect and takes the bass line for a bit! can't get enough of PHOX. such a talented group!
Heard this band live at Shambala Festival UK this year. I've got to say they blew me and everyone there away, the band was so tight and the lead singers voice is heavenly! me and at least 10 other people I was with broke into tears because the whole thing was just so beautiful. Big up PHOX :]
All of y'all s honesty and humble experience turned into something audible is a gift. Please keep giving it, this is solace from the turbulence we all live everyday. So well thought out, the composition of this piece moves me every time I hear it. REVOLUTION!
Checking in from 2023. Song is still amazing
Ahhhh same in 2024
2024 and Phox still enriches my life.
2023 and still grooving 10 years later.
Agreed

@@Espialist have you heard the violents/monica Martin album though?!? It rocks!
I will forever be mad that they only have one album.
I've been listening to this for weeks. The musical layering is so complex and brings my ears so much joy.
WOW! I never realized they only had one album! That's why Blue and White is nowhere to be found! What garbage!
It's on the confetti EP@@jamesmills2041
2020 and still in love with this version of Slow Motion
Some of these oldies I keep coming back to. Just remembered to watch after listening to Daisy Chain by Shakey Graves.
2021, still here :)
@@mar2216 same 💜
Yeah this is way better than the studio version
Still here, still loving it.
I had to stop the song and put headphones on just so I could get the full experience. I think I've fallen in love.
KipperTheArt could you understand her better with them on?
+KipperTheArt yeah the audio quality on this recording is pretty amaze
+chris smith Not real well, and I have to disagree about the audio quality/mixing when it comes to her vocals; i feel like she is pushed into the background by every other instrument.
+Alan Esh They're all in one roooooom :D
Heh, true Paul, but she has a mic and thus they should have been able to boost her either during the show or when they put together the video, whichever place they "balanced" all of the inputs.
This performance moves me to tears...
She is so beautiful. And the band's sound is just breath taking.
Just discovering this. It's one of the best feelings in the world to find a new artist (to you/me) that puts shivers up the spine.
That transition between Slow Motion and Blue and White is like heaven, lost inside the grey area between love and loss. Absolutely astonishing. Amazing.
Oh well said ❤
I love this. Though I would not be offended if the camera never moved from this goddess of a woman.
Right?! Less drummer nuts, more Monica! Woohooooo

i have listened to this song literally 200 times, and it is still as wonderful as the 1st time.
a performance for the ages. magnificent

I'm going to buy a copy of this record for my beloved niece. She will think I am amazing. No dear, PHOX is amazing.
Can't stop watching this. It remains my favorite RUclips video.
Curtis Thorpe
6 years later and it is still mine as well.
2021 and i still come back to this video to be overwhelmed by the incredible sound until i cry myself to sleep

This band is like cold white wine..nice
I could listen to that voice for months straight
she kills it. they all kill it.
I've seen a lot of Phox performances on RUclips but this is by far one of the best ones. The musicality of the entire set is just amazing.
Sparkling eyes, killer voice, killer band, amazing noise. And an omnichord to boot. Yes.
They are from my home town, Madison WI.
She is a lovely person, as well as my barista in the past.
Wow, she is gorgeous!
The band is great, too!
I wonder what spending a week with them is like
i keep coming back to this :)
Moved to tears. Absolutely bawling. No shame. Don't know how I missed them by 10 years, but it's like I was missing this all along.
Her voice is so throaty, subtle, powerful but angelic. Underrated. I keep on listening
This was wonderfully composed. They're all so young.
Like, my age young, but they're doing something and I'm not.
Anyway, this is amazing and I am in love. Her voice is like velvet.
+Leann Bennett you can go to watch them live, that's doing something.

i dont know why i found so cute that thing she did with her hands at 9:15
Really amazing band! How come they are not more known?! They deserve it!
Audiotree Does some really good mixing and mastering. I love the studio
Seriously. Very telented techs running that place.
Wow... that voice just blew me away. Absoloutly fantastic peice. Big ups to the entire crew. Wow
Her voice sounds better in the audiotree video than the production release. Blue and white also sounds much better and slower than the deluxe release. Would love to see them live in person.

My all day song. For the rest of my life.
Been hooked for 5 days now. Does anyone know if they're passing by New York?
John Soriano I checked Google for you, you lazy bum. They were there on July 23rd.
justanotherbum007 Thank you ally. You have my warmest gratitude.

Well that was most refreshing :)
That changed my world.
Holy crap that voice is flawless.
Never heard of them before tonight. What an extraordinarily beautiful sound.
I can't handle this much brilliance O_o
So pure sounds, I listen to this and it's lovely. The angles of the camera are so nice also
the clapping is well done for a live recording
this video is a monthly listen
I first heard this band on NPR and absolutely love them! Definitely buying their album.
I am truly in love with Monica Martin and this is the best version ever!
This song makes my soul wanna cry
This is the most beautiful video/song I've ever heard
This is beautiful! ...okay, and magical.

tolcalvin Am I supposed to feel proud of myself because I noticed it the first time I watched it?
:)
I listened more than 1000 times, great music
This is definitely a sound I can get use to. Amazing
I couldn't believe my ears when my friend played this for me. Ambrosia.
Two of my favorite Phox songs together in one video! My introduction to them was in Chicago, when they opened for Junip. AMAZEBALLS!
Oh my god, that voice at 4:18
The sound in your videos is ridiculously good. You have yourself a new subscriber.
Her voice is like warmth on a cold night. I don’t know how else to describe it.
Sooo so pretty. Thank you!

Me: "eleven minute video that's WAAY to long, I'll just listen to a little bit of it."
*11 minutes later*
Me: "That's all?! I want more!!!"
lillost Lol! I felt the exact same way!!! Too bad they're no longer together 😪
Yes!
All of y'all s honesty and humble experience turned into something audible is a gift. Please keep giving it, this is solace from the turbulence we all live everyday. So well thought out, the composition of this piece moves me every time I hear it. REVOLUTION!

This is one of the best bands of all time.

+VIØŁΛ Spread the love far and wide!
They just each seem like unique, imperfect, and extraordinary human beings. I truly wonder what spending a day with them would be like
Wisconsin misses Phox. Return to us.
