On another note with the amount of innovative hop up designs out there especially heading into the TDC designs you would think GHK would adopt something similar or if not better. I'm honestly hoping GHK changes it as this is such an awesome design overall.

ghk hop up is a paper weight as you say, they are just waiting third parties to make one for them. i have their AK, the same shit, despite the otherwise steel glory.
You can probably try this (similar idea we did for Vipertech m4 2012 fcg lifting out of place problem): file down the rod to shorten it slightly, drill and channel out small hole laterally into the hopup unit body, screw in a small grub screw perpendicular to the rod behind it.
I was going to recommend using “green stuff” and molding to the shape and letting it set, but depending on the user and preference of gas system used I wouldn’t know if it would keep in place or not but your idea is really good. Do you have a spot you got to for the tools to set screws that small?
@6mmtactics385 Anything M1-M2 hex head screws will probably do (sets available on Amazon). Doesn't need to be anything fancy. You will probably have to file and shorten the screw. The steel outer barrel should retain the screw and prevent it from backing out. It's not recommended, but you can go inline with the rod if there's not enough material going lateral. However if the screw backs out it'll start chewing up the nozzle. Hell you might as well just do a tiny starter hole and take any AR-15 roll pin for the bolt catch, rather than timing in a screw, and shove it in there and it'll probably do the same thing so long as the hopup assembly doesn't move outside the outer barrel during cycling too much.
People starting to complain about GHK quality after the 1st glock then the AK version 2. now this gen5 chamber design :(. 4UAD team said they will release a DIY mod to fix the hop chamber design.

I do not own the maple leaf one sadly, only the upgraded one that comes with the ultimate kit
