I do appreciate your honest and fair reviews of Chanel makeup. I was going to rush and get this new concealer but after hearing you out, I’ve decided to skip it. I think the jar packaging is its biggest con. I agree that exposing it to air each time we dip into the product will make its shelf life pretty limited. As much as I love luxury makeup, it needs to also be functional and practical to fit my lifestyle. Great review! ❤

Totally agree about the jar. I have two jars, eye cream and face cream and it's a eeal mess. Then things happened in life and they were not used for a while, the face cream for sure shrank and the cream left gave me huge red bumps on and under my chin. I still have eye cream left, but I guess I will use it on the face or legs. On the other hand, the serum and light cream (I think) on pump bottles are a totally different thing. They are just lovely. At the time back, I bought all sublimage available but cleanse and mask, at my local little store. Sometimes they used to have 25% off the whole store, but they don't exist more today.
I love this concealer. I have it in shade 20. I use a color corrector underneath it, but I do with all my concealers. I agree that the packaging leaves a lot to be desired, but I asked for one of Chanel’s little sample jars (they were nice enough to give me two!) & scooped a small amount from the big jar into the little one for everyday use. That way the contents of the original jar will stay fresh. You need so little of this concealer that it will last for at least a year & probably longer. I initially apply it only where needed with an eyeliner brush, let it dry down for several seconds, & then smooth it out with the little brush or my finger. I love this stuff!

Having used the Sublimage Concealer for a few days now, I tend to agree with your review. A little does go a long way and it gives me a fresh-eyed look. It does wear well and covers my dark circles satisfactorily. I have used it with different foundations and the results so far are very good and it blends seamlessly looking quite natural. The only con is, as you have so well pointed out, the packaging. This is not a concealer to use if you are in a rush. I store the jar in its box because that way I won't lose the brush or spatula, which means I take the jar out of the box, untwist the lid, gently pull up the protective cover making sure the large amount of cream that adheres to that protective cover does not seep out, then I dip the spatula ever so gently so as not to pick up too much, and then replace the protective cover, again making sure there is not spillage around the rim (as you pointed out) and twist that lid on the jar to close, which usually takes me two tries at least, and finally put everything back in the box. Definitely not travel friendly. That's a lot of effort to access a concealer, but so fart I do like it and I think it will serve me well during the dry, colder months ahead. Despite the packaging, I'm glad I have this concealer as an option. Would I buy it again? Let's see how it performs this winter on my skin.
What I do with these types of products, so that they don't deteriorate as fast (e.g. with the Chantecaille "pot" foundation, which I love), is to put a bit at a time into a travelling container for creams and use it from there, so that the product in the original pot does not get exposed to oxygen as often (also, I find it to be less messy and more travel-friendly). I use up the product in the travel pot in a reasonable time, so that it does not deteriorate either (I think :) ). Yes, the travel pot is not as classy-looking as the original pot, but hey, you can't have everything. :) (Maybe instead of an actual travel pot, you can use a pot from a used eye-cream or something.)
This was a great review! I wear shade 132 and I've been wearing this concealer for a little over a month and I am absolutely loving it. I have an early morning commute and find that it doesn't take me much time at all. I typically apply a small amount to my skin and work it in where I want with my finger. After a minute I take a clean medium density brush and press it all in. Powder or no powder, it looks great all day and so far its working well with every foundation I've tried.
Angela, always nice to hear an honest review on a hyped up product. I did order the product but have not received it yet. It sounds like it can get very messy with the jar but reading the other comments depotting a small amount at a time sounds like a good idea to try. Hi Angela, I bought the Chanel concealer in 10 also and for me personally it has the wow factor it looks so beautiful on my skin, I used my clé de peau radiant matte foundation with the concealer today and it looked flawless I'm so glad I purchased this, however I do agree its so messy but worth the hassle for me after seeing the results on my skin. Yesterday I was going to purchase the sisley concealer over phone, as we don't have that brand where I live, because of all your good reviews. Then I discovered while reading about the ingredients it contains a product I'm heavily allergic to. Its called 'kjerringrokk' in my language, a plant. There are a few plant ingredients I'm allergic to as a pollen allergic, but this is the very first time I've seen this in a product. It's mostly used as herb tea from the pharmacy in my childhood to help against various problems. I thought I had to be very careful under my eyes, a very delicate area. So unfortunately I skipped it and have no replacement. Perhaps the Armani is a good idea. My whole eyelid area is totally reacting to something, so dry and burning it's more like an exema than regular dryness. Would be very happy for advice. Thank you Angela for a channel I love ❤️ very much. Its calm, quiet (important cause of frequent/daily migraines and headpains) and you speak clearly and very honest. No stress. Thumbs up for you! 👍💕

Thank you for this review. I just purchased however I also have the Armani concealer. To save some money, I will return the one from Chanel. I have always loved the Armani concealer. I do not go out very much any more so I would not use the Chanel concealer very much and I don’t want to waste it. I certainly would have been disappointed if it would not last long. An idea maybe to purchase a small container and remove some of the concealer from the original jar. Seal up the original and use the small jar for easier management of the product.

Hi Angela, great review:) There was one thing, that made me curious: because of the packaging the product indeed is exposed to the air, and it’s not the first time that I hear that it has something to do with expiring of skincare benefits/ingredients. So I couldn’t immediately not think of a regular face cream, which also usually comes in jars, and every time we use it we have to open the whole jar as well, but nobody ever says or think negative about the packaging in that way:) so why would we expect something in terms of spoiling skincare benefits of concealer?) although when it comes to foundation or concealer, no doubt that this kind of packaging is way to messy and inconvenient, also perhaps it might also go oxidised over time..
I have two sublimage products on jars, eye and face cream. For sure they have deteriorated over time. Even without using it for quite a while. The face cream lost its liquid and almost disappeared, the cream left in the jar gave unpleasant big red bumps on and under the chin. There is more left of the eye cream, but I don't dear using it on the eye area. Will find other places. The sublimage product on a pump bottle is a whole different case. They work fine.
I truly love the Sisley concealers which last all day on my skin. 15ml so actually it is an ok pricing. In Denmark it is also available in shade nr 4. I bought the sublimage concealer in 10. i agree about the issues on pores, but for undereye darkness it is lovely. That packaging though.. what a mess. I decided to depot a bit in an easy accesable container, as I do not want to expose the content to air. It for sure takes away the luxury feeling, but I want to be able to use it even when I am busy but without the hazle 😊 the end result are worth it in my opinion.
I was in Milan and bought this concealer and loved it right away. Mine is number 30. It is my favorite out of many that I own.( and I have a lot of others 😉). The jar on the other hand is a disaster, I agree with you , tube would be much better. I am 50 yo and for my under eye dry skin it is the best I own. It goes better on top of the eye primer.
@@tammysummerswoodbeck1353 I was recommended Sublimage L’essence Foundamentale Yeux ( the radiance renewing eye serum). When I have time I use it. But to tell you the truth, I use whatever I can find at the moment in my drawer😉. What I usually do, on top of the concealer , it feels dry, I use le lift eye revitalizer to make it less concentrated. Roll-on serum is easy to use

You can use it in the morning just transfer a little bit to some other jar and keep original jar away maybe even in the fridge to preserve it from spoiling and "air exposure", its that easy
Oh, how I wish I had seen your video earlier. I purchased shade 20, and now I think 10 would be better for my skin tone. Instead of focusing on aesthetics, I wish Chanel had used a tube rather than a pot. My holy grail is the Sisley concealer, and I wear shade 1, but as I mature, my blue veins are getting more difficult to conceal. Sisley recently came out with 1.5 and 2.5 for cooler skin tones. I disagree that they are cool. When I swatched them, they leaned more peach. I hope the Chanel Sublimage concealer isn't too warm for my skin. May I ask which sunscreen you use?

Hello Mary :) Sadly I still don't like it. I mentioned it in my best makeup of 2022 & fails video. From the comments that I have been receiving under my videos I can say that some people love it and others don't like it. To sum up the comments that I received: it looks like it works for dry mature skin. I would suggest you try it in store before buying because whatever I do it just doesn't looks as good as my other concealers. And it looks like I the whole community is 50/50 about how they feel. Hi Angela. From other reviews I have seen this concealer is pretty amazing. It covers well and feels well on the delicate undereye area. However, I would not purchase a concealer in a jar. To be honest I didn't purchase the Sublimage foundation in a jar, but I am using the Sublimage Tint which I love with the pump packaging. As for the skincare benefits that we all hear from brands lately, I don't consider them when I buy something. I buy skincare for my skin care and makeup for making up my face. Same goes for the SPF added to foundations, I never rely on them. Apart from that, I think it is a good product but the packaging for me is all wrong. It cannot survive opening it every single day and also one has to be very careful not to make a mess. Who can do that in the morning xx
I appreciate your review, and though I think the packaging looks lovely it is puzzling why they chose the jar as, like you said, it's a whole little process to apply as well as the exposure to the air each time it's opened. It does look lovely though, I wonder how it would look on someone with under eye lines?

I do love ur videos, and ur look is beautiful. I do not think I will purchase. I love in this order. Charlotte Tilbury, Sisley and Tom ford. I also love the chantecaille stress eye cream. It removes redness and puffiness. Ty again.
Chanel foundations are usually consistent with their shades. If you have a Chanel foundation then the same shade number in the concealer should work well, at least it does for me. I have a light - medium complexion with neutral undertones and Chanel 40 works for me. (30 could work but I find it just a smidgeon too light for my skin tone) I have both the 40 and the 30 in the Sublimage concealer and while the 30 is slightly lighter and brighter, the 40 looks more natural. I hope this helps.

I think you might be referring to the eye gloss from the holiday collection from Chanel and it doesn’t do much of anything for me on the eyes… but it puts a lovely dusting of glitter on the lips 💕. It’s very subtle but pretty for holiday 🎄

Hi Maya, the concealer has higher coverage. The foundation is more sheer and will not cover very well dark circles. This is the main difference. Other than the amount of coverage both the concealer and the foundation feel very moisturizing (without being oily) and have skin like finish. xoxo
I have ordered the concealer as I already use the sublimage liquid foundation. I already use the Chanel color corrector and am hoping the addition of the skin care will make it work better with the foundation. I have mature skin and seldom use concealer because of cakiness. I do have an extremely good skin care routine, but mature skin needs additional care. I will post again once I receive it and have an opportunity.
Chanel drives me mad with their packaging of skin care with so-called active ingredients in jars. It makes no scientific sense and they must know it. It cannot be beyond the wit of their designers to put together a quality pump action packaging - their younger market skin care is so packaged. I highly rate the Sublimage foundation now there is a bottle version - I would put it as my joint favourite foundation - and would happily fork out for this concealer and their skin care range if not in jars. As it is, I won't buy. As far as new concealers go, I am no fan of Charlotte Tilbury's range overall but I love her new concealer - excellent under eye, despite my lines.

There is more left of the eye cream, but I don't dear using it on the eye area. Will find other places. The sublimage product on a pump bottle is a whole different case. They work fine.
I truly love the Sisley concealers which last all day on my skin. 15ml so actually it is an ok pricing. In Denmark it is also available in shade nr 4. I bought the sublimage concealer in 10. i agree about the issues on pores, but for undereye darkness it is lovely. That packaging though.. what a mess. I decided to depot a bit in an easy accesable container, as I do not want to expose the content to air. It for sure takes away the luxury feeling, but I want to be able to use it even when I am busy but without the hazle 😊 the end result are worth it in my opinion.

I was in Milan and bought this concealer and loved it right away. Mine is number 30. It is my favorite out of many that I own.( and I have a lot of others 😉). The jar on the other hand is a disaster, I agree with you , tube would be much better. I am 50 yo and for my under eye dry skin it is the best I own. It goes better on top of the eye primer.
Would you mind sharing what eye primer you use?
@@tammysummerswoodbeck1353 I was recommended Sublimage L’essence Foundamentale Yeux ( the radiance renewing eye serum). When I have time I use it. But to tell you the truth, I use whatever I can find at the moment in my drawer😉. What I usually do, on top of the concealer , it feels dry, I use le lift eye revitalizer to make it less concentrated. Roll-on serum is easy to use

You can use it in the morning just transfer a little bit to some other jar and keep original jar away maybe even in the fridge to preserve it from spoiling and "air exposure", its that easy
Oh, how I wish I had seen your video earlier. I purchased shade 20, and now I think 10 would be better for my skin tone. Instead of focusing on aesthetics, I wish Chanel had used a tube rather than a pot. My holy grail is the Sisley concealer, and I wear shade 1, but as I mature, my blue veins are getting more difficult to conceal. Sisley recently came out with 1.5 and 2.5 for cooler skin tones. I disagree that they are cool. When I swatched them, they leaned more peach. I hope the Chanel Sublimage concealer isn't too warm for my skin. May I ask which sunscreen you use?

Hello Mary :) Sadly I still don't like it. I mentioned it in my best makeup of 2022 & fails video. From the comments that I have been receiving under my videos I can say that some people love it and others don't like it. To sum up the comments that I received: it looks like it works for dry mature skin. I would suggest you try it in store before buying because whatever I do it just doesn't looks as good as my other concealers. And it looks like I the whole community is 50/50 about how they feel. I'm sorry it's not very helpful. xoxo

Hi Angela. From other reviews I have seen this concealer is pretty amazing. It covers well and feels well on the delicate undereye area. However, I would not purchase a concealer in a jar. To be honest I didn't purchase the Sublimage foundation in a jar, but I am using the Sublimage Tint which I love with the pump packaging. As for the skincare benefits that we all hear from brands lately, I don't consider them when I buy something. I buy skincare for my skin care and makeup for making up my face. Same goes for the SPF added to foundations, I never rely on them. Apart from that, I think it is a good product but the packaging for me is all wrong. It cannot survive opening it every single day and also one has to be very careful not to make a mess. Who can do that in the morning xx

I appreciate your review, and though I think the packaging looks lovely it is puzzling why they chose the jar as, like you said, it's a whole little process to apply as well as the exposure to the air each time it's opened. It does look lovely though, I wonder how it would look on someone with under eye lines?

Chanel foundations are usually consistent with their shades. If you have a Chanel foundation then the same shade number in the concealer should work well, at least it does for me. I have a light - medium complexion with neutral undertones and Chanel 40 works for me. (30 could work but I find it just a smidgeon too light for my skin tone) I have both the 40 and the 30 in the Sublimage concealer and while the 30 is slightly lighter and brighter, the 40 looks more natural. I hope this helps.
Great review. I will pass on it but one could decant a small amount into a small glass container for daily use.

I think you might be referring to the eye gloss from the holiday collection from Chanel and it doesn’t do much of anything for me on the eyes… but it puts a lovely dusting of glitter on the lips 💕. It’s very subtle but pretty for holiday 🎄

Can i use the sublimage foundation as a concealer ? Is there a difference between the concealer and the foundation ?
Hi Maya, the concealer has higher coverage. The foundation is more sheer and will not cover very well dark circles. This is the main difference. Other than the amount of coverage both the concealer and the foundation feel very moisturizing (without being oily) and have skin like finish. xoxo

I have ordered the concealer as I already use the sublimage liquid foundation. I already use the Chanel color corrector and am hoping the addition of the skin care will make it work better with the foundation. I have mature skin and seldom use concealer because of cakiness. I do have an extremely good skin care routine, but mature skin needs additional care. I will post again once I receive it and have an opportunity.
How does it compare to Sisleys?
Chanel drives me mad with their packaging of skin care with so-called active ingredients in jars. It makes no scientific sense and they must know it. It cannot be beyond the wit of their designers to put together a quality pump action packaging - their younger market skin care is so packaged. I highly rate the Sublimage foundation now there is a bottle version - I would put it as my joint favourite foundation - and would happily fork out for this concealer and their skin care range if not in jars. As it is, I won't buy.
As far as new concealers go, I am no fan of Charlotte Tilbury's range overall but I love her new concealer - excellent under eye, despite my lines.
It looks so messy! If only it came in a tube and with a wand. The best concealer I use is the Marc Jacobs one.

I am extremely disappointed with this concealer. I hate the way it sits on my skin. Like you said, you can see it. And it makes my pores look bigger too. Feel so angry at the sales advisor who sold me this crap.
