Tallest building in Lake Charles demolished

The tallest building in Lake Charles, Louisiana is no longer apart of the skyline after its planned implosion. The building was badly damaged during Hurricane Laura in 2020.

I don’t understand the waste. Maybe the building wasn’t safe anymore, that’s fine but there is a huge wall of glass, could the glass not be reused? What about the inside, were there things inside that could be reused to build homes for homeless people? I hate destruction and waste.
