They should keep him. He just turned 29yrs Oct 15. In 2 to 3 yrs the team as a whole will mature into a contender, if everyone stays healthy. It's hard to find a good centre in this league.
cant keep yak and rj both, rogers wont pay luxury tax. yak has a player option in 2026 so he is UFA at the end of 2026 season. yaks gonna be looking for hartenstein money in early summer 2025 extension of 30 million or more for 4 years to stay in toronto on a rebuilding team. he will get paid anywhere he goes. so toronto likely have to pay 35million a year for 4 years with new us cable tv contract coming in 2026.
Dude we need to just keep him. It’s so dumb ti trade him and then spend time trying to find another Yak. If the offer isn’t insane then just keep the guy he’s awesime
he has player option in 2026 so he is ufa after next season. means if you dont pay him hartenstein money of 30-35million a year for 4 years in summer of 2025 early extension, he is an expiring. and you know what happens when you slow roll an expiring like siakam/fred. and if you pay yak, have to trade RJ cuz rogers wont pay luxury tax. so the decision is now before 2025 trade deadline.
i guarantee you yak saying last summer he didnt leave spurs to come to another rebuilding situation, if yak opts out and is UFA in summer of 2026 he will get paid anywhere and wont come back to raptors.
@@giovanni-ed7zq RJ likely isn't part of the teams long term future though... Also RJ is the most replaceable in the starting lineup. It's much harder to find a competent centre in this league than it is to find a comparable small forward/shooting guard. Plus if we do luck out and draft Cooper Flagg, RJ will be the odd man out in a couple of seasons. It's much better to keep Yak, and over the next two seasons try to draft a center that can shoot, and protect the rim, so that when Yak enters his twilight years he can be a serviceable backup center.
I don't really want to trade him... Raptors got him cause they always always need a good centre. Call me crazy but I think a starting line up of Quick, RJ, Barnes, Flagg and Jak with Dick off the bench... come on that's a crazy good core....
no look up his contract, he has player option in 2026 where he becomes UFA. means you have to pay him likely hartenstein money of 30-35million for 4 years in summer of 2025. slow roll it into contract year like siakam/fred, you know what happens. also if you pay yak, cant pay rj and have to trade him because rogers wont pay luxury tax. so the decision is before 2025 trade deadline or you have to pay yak and trade rj in summer.
@@jcvs1014 unprotected 2025 pick with gradey dick and you probably can get lively. you not getting him for jakob poeltl unless you add two unprotected picks and an unprotected swap.
Don’t trade , I can see we are going to be a play off team, next season when we draft top 3 pick. We need a C that’s able to work in our system . He still very young , and his contract very reasonable
yak has a player option in 2026. means him playing at career best and possible all star level, he will ask for 30 million a year for 4 years like hartenstein. you slow roll yak into contract year and get diminishing returns like siakam/fred. also you pay yak and you have to trade RJ because rogers wont pay luxury tax.
yak contract only reasonable for this season if you want max value. he will ask for an early summer extension of hartenstein money or more to stay on rebuilding raptors in summer of 2025 because he has a player option in 2026.
We finally get a center, who is fundamentally sound, doesn't miss from the paint, best screener in the nba(?) , last 3 games averaging 30 and 20 ( roughley), is now a vet, that wants to be here, the other players love him....lets trade him and hope we get someone who is going to be ready for the nba is 4 years. What. Are. We. Doing. Here Can i ask who is this mythical AVAILABLE player. The only guy who i can think of is myles Turner, and that trade is 3 years too late. Jak doesn't shoot 3's and is not flashy, so new fans who only watch highlights think he sucks. He doesn't need to shoot 3's, thats what guys who are shooters are for. Jak needs to stay, and retire a Raptor in my opinion. Unless you are getting a game changer player like we did in 2019, he stays, and i do see the point of going to a contender for Jak to win a ring, if he wants that all the power to him. " but, but high picks" Look at the additions this season Shead, Mogbo, Battle and walter. 3 guys who played in collage for 3-4 years (5 years in Battles case) and teenager. Who is playing, and who is not ready for the nba? #1 Picks are not this holy grail to winning a chip, and if you think that is the case go look at all the top picks in the last 20 years, there is more Zion's, greg Oduns and Anthony Bennett's, than wemby's or Lebrons. Kawhi #17, steph #13, Jokic late second round pick. We are building something really special i feel. Patience
Not saying I want Jak traded because I really find that he's been the centerpiece (no pun intended) of this roster right now from being really bad. He's been playing really well this season and has demonstrated his potential with the team. But he's been discussed with trades for quite some time at the end of last year, and even during the summer. The good news that makes me happy is that nobody has ever thought that his contract is over valued. He's always been good and this season he's literally avg. a double double! Idk who we would realistically trade for because he's able to take the minutes well while a younger guy may have issues.
Stop. Just stop it. Making sense breaks trade machine hype. Stop tryna make sense. Please. I'm sure there is a centre out there that Masai can fleece with the mythological traits INCLUDING what Jak can do AND not give up draft picks. So please stop tryna be all reasonable with really based takes that really be nice and all that "patience" preaching. You killing alllllllll the TRADE MACHINE HYPE!!
Here I was all agreeing with you until you started talking about high picks. I don't think you went and looked at all the high picks. OVERWHELMINGLY the best players come from the top of the draft.. just because Oden exists and Draymond exists doesn't change the odds. You can think we don't need a high pick, sure.. but they most certainly are the best chance at getting the best talent. Banking on a hope and prayer isn't a strategy to get high end talent.. but it can be a bi product of you winning for sure. We going nowhere this year, even if we came back and got healthy.. we still not winning a ring, nor even necessarily ready or needing of taking our lumps just yet. Like you said, patience.. why not get a high end pick in a 1 year rebuild, thats patience.. you also need talent to make trades and we aren't deep at all. Shead looks good sure, not elite and super unproven (I am a fan, one of my favourite raps) but he is VERY unproven. Mogbo same thing. Battle hasn't impressed much other than shooting, he won't see the court when it matters if thats all he can do, Walter is completely up in the air. IQ could end up not being worth 35 mil, Boucher, Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk all on their way out, GT won't be around long. We got a lot to do to finish out our roster over the next year or two.. like you said, patience. But like I said, Patience is also swallowing some llosses for the greater good too
*Some notable All Star Stats by draft position: 69% of number one picks have become All Stars, followed by 41% at 2, 59% at 3, 41% at 4, and 38% at 5. From 6-13, the odds of picking an All Star are basically flat at 16%, with notable outliers at 9-11 with 25%, 22%, and 19% respectively. On the negative side, there has only been one pick at 8 (or 3%) that has become an All Star. Odds from 14-24 are again virtually flat at 9%. Notable outliers here are 5 All Stars (16%) at 17, and 0 All Stars at 23, the only spot in the first round without an All Star.* Just a copy and pasted note from a guy who did some research of drafts between 89 and 00, I have also seen graphs that highlight this quite well. Its clear the top of the draft boasts by far the best success at getting top picks. I know so much about it because of how many times I been baffled people suggest its bad to have a high draft pick lol
@ScottieDPOYY Analytics are great, but they don't take the human element into account, don't take ego, greed, money, good attitude, bad attitude. Masai drafts on egoless hard workers, with good attitudes who may be less talented but are coachable. These kids are told they are superstars ftom the time they are 13, go to university for a year, and are handed millions to keep being the superstar they think they are. The easy part is getting to the nba ( for them, not mere mortals like us ), but that's when the work starts. Do you know how many hyped guys I've heard about in my 40 years of watching nba, a lot more than become the superstars of the league. It's a team sport, but it's marketing 1 guy or big 3, but what wins is a good team. A superstar gets the glory ( and the scorn) but a built team with a solid foundation. With all the hype about Flagg, I still haven't watched him play. Winning is a skill, and tanking instills loser mentality...look at philly. I'm just happy the team is on an upward trajectory and have some good young talent, they get a good pick great, the games have been great entertaining ball, but we can't lose them all, and im gonna celebrate the wins. Peace, thanks for replying, and with info, love it.
Jakob just turned 29 in Oct. He fits the timeline for this team to contend. You don't give up a 29 yr old centre for a young centre especially because they mature later than most in the NBA.
If we trade Jakob: 1. Chomche isn't ready for NBA minutes 2. There's no top-5 pick worthy center despite this year's deep draft. 3. Young, developing centers already in the NBA carry more value than Jakob does by virtue of their age alone. -------- We're probably keeping him. And that's not a bad thing. He's a massive steadying influence for our team. Keep him until Chomche's ready, or until we find someone else who can fill his slot. 7' players are not easy to replace.
before you say there is no top center in the 2025 draft, google khaman maluach. he is mobile as well and can defend 4-5 positions switching as a 7'2 center. he is already 250lbs as well, and not some 200lb bone rack that needs to put on muscle for 3 years.
@andrewtataj497 2. Khaman Muluach, please watch the Duke games and circle back. He's everything we need from a Center - Solid defensive anchor, mobile, shoots the 3, rebounds well, 7' with a super long wingspan. He's from Sudan as well, you know how Masai feels about African players.
Poetl Trades suggested do not make sense. These are NOT deals that will make Masai Ujiri Bite. Raptors are NOT shopping Jakob. Teams are NOT calling for him at all - and if they start there is precious little the Raps can use at this time in terms of players known to be available - it's certainly not the other teams best offers season yet. We need to move on to other topics already.
look at yaks contract, he can opt out in 2026. it means he is a UFA. so unless you willing to pay yak hartenstein money in early extension of summer of 2025 of 30-35million a year for 4 years, you have to trade him now for max value. if you slow roll it like siakam/fred into contract year, you know what happens. and if you pay yak, have to trade RJ because rogers wont pay luxury tax.
@@giovanni-ed7zq you are correct - but iI'd suggest ts a little more complex than that - The CBA has changed Markey Values. while the cap rises and apart from Jak and Davioin Mitchel.l And Oliynk Raps have total control of the roster for the next several years as a lot of these guys Are RFA's not UFA's. Rogers will & has pay tax for a contending team - bit not a low end one. But the new Contract kicks in next year and the caps bump also.,, It's fluid. But if Jak is playing like this Next season - He will be paid here and it will be worth it. But this notwithstanding it does not change the fax that nobody is shopping Jak - and the phone is not ringing either. Don't expect a Jakob trade. Expect a Bruce Brown and Chris Boucher centered deal(s) Similarly expect teams looking at centres to be focused Washington & Brooklyn's guys. Jakob is lower on the list.for any team looking .
@@joelbennett3709 i think the condition for rogers to pay luxury tax is conference finals appearance at least. so until they get to that, rogers doesnt have to pay shit.

are you dumb, yak has a player option in 2026, which means he is ufa at end of next season. that means you decide to pay yak 30-35 million for 4 years like hartenstein, or trade him now for max value. you pay yak, then you have to trade RJ because rogers wont pay luxury tax and he has a contract coming year after.
@@giovanni-ed7zq Cleary you are dumb. Were still in 2024 and you would give up a center that gives you a double double almost every time he plays for a bunch of rolls players and a center that will not produce the same numbers. Where are we getting another center from....the unpredictable draft??
@@jayyorrick4555 clearly you dumb cuz its 24/25 season. and yak has an player option at the end of 25/26 season next year. that means you have to decide to pay or not pay yak 35million a year for 4 years now because you slow roll it like siakam/fred into contract year, i guarantee you its gonna end badly. 26/27 is yaks final year if he opts in which is doubtful. so if yak opts out after 2025/26 season he is ufa in the summer of 2026

cant pay yak his 30-35 million of hartenstein money in summer of 2025 early extension before he opts out in 2026. if ya do you have to trade RJ cuz rogers wont pay luxury tax season after on a new rj contract. you can slow roll it like siakam/fred into yaks contract year in 2026, but i guarantee you it wont end well.
because he has a player option in 2026 and is ufa. and you have to pay him 30-35million like hartenstein in early summer 2025 extension. also if you pay yak, rogers wont pay luxury tax so you have to trade Rj cuz no money for his new contract year after.
@@ADP72 well they have to decide to pay yak now cuz he has early extension after this season where he will likely ask for an overpay to stay in toronto. so hartenstein making 30 million a year, yak asks for 35mllion a year for 4 years to stay in toronto or he opts out and ufa at and of 2026 season. you slow roll him into contract year like siakam/fred you will get bad contract filler back and 2nd round picks. and if they decide to pay yak, then they have to trade RJ cuz rogers wont pay luxury tax. if masai mishandles more assets, rogers probably fire him in the summer of 2026 considering rogers dont like masai in the first place and thinks he is overpaid.
The Raptors better not trade Jakob. He's the cornerstone going forward for a position of need for a long time. If they trade him, I am done supporting this team.
JP best not be traded - it is very difficult to find a bonafide center. Does everyone remember how hard it was for the Raptors to find a center before we landed JV? Then we got spoiled with who we had for center and we all had a hint JP was a stud when he was first traded for Leonard which was why Masa was more than fine with paying a premium to get him back so with all that said, not only the position is valuable, so is the vet experience on the roster. We only move him if we get an offer we can't refuse, other than that, he's a Raptor for a long time.
@@terrancehylton-lyons1776he is literally the best offensive rebounder in the league, tops in setting screens and highly effecient. What’s with wanting centres to shoot 3’s? So who’s grabbing the rebounds when he misses? Scottie? Gradey? IQ? How about Scottie shoot the 3’s and Jak cleans them up if need be. It’s not hard so name them.
@GoodGame391 Name a championship team in the last 5 years with a center that couldn't space the floor. NIX CLAYTON jalen Duren Zubac Bam James Wiseman Jarrett Allen Ayton Jonas
@ in 2015 the gsw won a chip with Andrew bogut as their centre. I am pretty sure Damian Jones was their centre in 2017 and He too didn’t shoot 3’s. Correct me if I am wrong. Didn’t Giannis win a chip and not only can he not shoot 3’s, he couldn’t hit free throws and shoot in general. Yes his title is a power forward but he did job if a centre and the point is he didn’t need to shoot 3’s to “space the floor” and win and he was the main player. Jak is a role player so if a main player doesn’t need to shoot 3’s to win a chip, why is it mandatory for a centre to shoot 3’s? Also why does every team need to look the exact same? Curry changed it to a 3 game and everyone was crying about that when the league changed… things change and evolve all the time. maybe now that teams can shoot having someone to grab rebounds and pass out to shooters is a good thing? In what world are some of those players being traded? Also wiseman? Really? Jak is 1000x better than him. Ayton? Our fans are always thinking the grass is greener on the other side. Ayton is a head case. Common now. You are acting like it’s not so hard as if those teams don’t value their own bigs like we should. We don’t need to be copy cats It’s called being creative and using players strengths. Just remembered didn’t Dwight Howard win a ring with the lakers and doesn’t shoot 3’s? Anthony Davis? I just names 5 centres with chips that didn’t shoot 3’s… I am sure if I looked into it more I can find more. Someone sometimes has to do the dirty work.
unfortunately jak has a player option in 2026. means early contract extension of 2025 summer looking like hartenstein money of 30 million a year for 4 years. you slow roll into contract year and end up like siakam/fred on an expiring. also rogers wont pay luxury tax so you have to trade RJ cuz you cant pay both.
Id take clingan in a heartbeat if that came up or like sarr and some draft comp because even he's been ass this year still ultra young and loads of potential, under raptors development might be worth while
dont really matter, cant afford both yak and RJ. yak has player option in 2026 and is UFA. so you pay yak 30-35milion a year for 4 years like hartenstein or slow roll him into contract year like siakam/fred. you pay yak, have to trade RJ because rogers wont pay luxury tax.
If the idea is to tank and possibly get the best odds of getting Flagg trading Poetl at the height of his offensive surge might be smart. Just be ready to overpay to bring in another center in the offseason via free agency or trade!
it would have to be 2 trades. 1st trade ryan dunn for bruno fernando or garett temple. 2nd trade josef nurkic and 2026 1st for jakob poeltl. the pick is to eat 2 years of nurkic salary where he isnt worth it and you wont be able to trade him. likely have to be done 24 hrs apart.
If raptors have a top 5 pick they are more than likely drafting a C Khaman Maluach will be around that range and history shows Masai will be high on him. I don’t mind trading Jak for a prospect or draft picks. Herb jones, Jordan Watkins, Ryan Dunn, TJD, SPJ etc
pelicans are not trading herb jones. they need him. it would be like trading your defensive anchor like a 25 year old og anunoby for a 29 year old jakob poeltl. its likely a lateral move at best or even a regression.
Jak only gets traded if he requests to go to a contender. Raps teammates love the guy. Wiz more likely to move JV as his cap hit and 3 point shooting are very attractive to apron teams.
I've been a Jak hater for years because he always seemed so fumbley bumbley but this year, in the pick n roll, he's been unlocked. I was wrong. Jak is legit.
Boucher needs to be showcased. Somehow we need to max his trade value…. Jak will fit our timeline… we’re 1 year away Scotty-IQ- changes our team in a big big way!
you pay yak his 30 million in summer of 2025 for 4 years in early extension or he opts out in 2026 player option and is ufa. you pay yak and have to trade Rj cuz rogers wont pay luxury tax on rj contract year after. you can slow roll yak into contract year like siakam/fred, but i guarantee you it wont end well.
bucks aint worth doing the trade for lopez and a 2031 pick. doesnt help the rebuild. suns can do the trade if they willing to do 2 trades 24 hrs apart. it would have to be dunn for bruno fernando or garett temple, and then 2nd trade 24 hrs late nurkic and 2026 suns late pick for jakob poeltl.
Based on what we're seeing, the Raptors are tanking on purpose too hard. They actually have a playoff team. Let's see Quickly, Dick, RJ, Barnes, Poeltl play for 20 straight games with a bench of Mitchell / Shead, Ochai, Temple, Brown, Olynk and Boucher.
He's more valuable in wisdom and developing ans teaching numerous guys how to PnR. Decent passer for an open 3 too. Maybe trade him down the line, next season or whatever. But what are you going to do, be centre-less? That sets the future back further. Build up the youth, so you have an abundance of talent, and can then trade for an elite centre in the near future.
Hard to say with a full lineup he will either be prime shaq or a complete non factor on the offensive end only time will tell he's dominating now because its literally just him n rj running offense
If the Raps decide this is a full on tank season - it's simple, trade Jak asap and lose as many games as possible. But, know that Jak will be very hard to replace. And, while he is older he's not old and could play a key role in a really good team in a couple of years. I would say trade Jak only if the offer is absolutely ridiculous otherwise keep him and make him part of the plan going forward.
look up his contract, he has player option in 2026 and is UFA. means early contract extension in summer is hartenstein money of 30-35 million for 4 years. you pay yak, have to trade RJ cuz rogers wont pay luxury tax. you can gamble like siakam fred in contract year and get two 2nds or lose him for nothing after season ends when he opts out and is UFA.
poeltl tenure depends on the development of the 19 year old 7 footer in the g league,,,,chomche........minimum ask 2 first round picks ..one for the player the other for the contract
I'm sending Jakob to Dallas for Lively the moment Dallas becomes interested, Lively is a modern NBA big that can guard in the post on the perimeter against 3 through 5

JAK is worth more than these trades, low first and Dunn aint it! What you must value, is that the center position is hard to fill and then fill and dominate. Jak is in his first of the next 4-6 years of dominate basketball. STOP with this age gap thing, it was said last year by Raptors management, and hasn't be mentioned much if at all this year. Centers who are 23 and dominating in the NBA don't exists. (I don't mean guys who get some decent soft numbers) I'm talking like Joker, like Duncan, lie Shaq, like Gasols in his day. Jak is playing at that level this season. He is showing how numbers (hello Siakim) doesn't mean you can run, handle a team and dominate the floor. Jak ran the Pacers last night, he has ran this team all year with help from RJ, Gradey, the rest. To have a center that can run a team is a rarity - a dime a dozen wing player ain't equal value, unless there are 3 first attached.
Virtually 0 teams in history that were any good, have a team full of 20-25 year olds that grow together. There is always vets mixed with young, OKC is a rare breed truly.. that isn't typically how it goes. I with you.. tired of the everyone has to be same age stuff too and couldn't agree more on how hard it is to fill the Center position. To me the best path is to develop a big over the coming years to fill in behind Yak, and one day take over. Not trade him for some wings and hope to find a Center one day. Not many trades are going to send us back a viable Center anyway..
you cant pay both yak or rj. Yak has option in 2026 so have to pay him hartenstein money of 30-35million a year for 4 years playing at career high and likely all star. rogers wont pay luxury tax so have make a decision to trade yak or rj. you slow roll yak into his contract year and you know what happens like siakam/fred. yak already said last summer he didnt leave spurs to come to another rebuilding situation. so yak becomes UFA, he gonna get paid anywhere he goes, and he wont be coming back to rebuilding raptors guaranteed. new cable tv contract in nba kicks in 2026 so players will be asking for more even.
@giovanni-ed7zq and when it kicks in, teams get to spend more - hey tell me genius! Have you took into.consideration any other moves to free up money? Possible trades? And who's your sources about Rogers luxury tax? And let's say they don't sign Jak - I still ain't taking Dunn for him and low first. Lucky you ain't running the show, you give more value to your restricted linear thinking (that won't end up the way you say it will be) then you do the key players you have!
Raptor fans have a short memory . The team had a major problem before bringing Poultl back. Does anyone remember who started at centre ? The team is going to need a centre this season and seasons to come. Why would you trade a centre to find a centre? There's a need in the league right now, a shortage of centres. Cooper Flagg is going to start at the centre position?
look up yaks contract, he has player option in 2026 and is UFA. so you decide to pay yak 30 million for 4 years in summer now or trade him. you pay yak, then you have to trade rj because rogers wont pay luxury tax on a new contract for RJ year after. you can slow roll it like siakam fred into yaks contract year but it wont end well.
It’s way to hard to find good centers in the league now so I don’t think trading him is a good idea at all.. what we need to do is try getting a solid backup center to come off the bench!
I would argue thats kind of Kelly, atleast for now. He can't hang with starting bigs but he brings enough to the court to be a solid back up.. good old injuries. Still need a decent back up long term.. maybe a Chomche as Kelly ages? Not that I am opposed to going and getting a decent back up either
cant pay both rj and yak, rogers wont pay luxury tax. yak has a player option at end of 2026 season. slow roll it like siakam fred into contract year, you know what happens. you either decide to pay yak in summer of 2025 now his 30-35million a year for 4 years and trade RJ now, or you trade yak. thats the situation.
@@dariodmusicofficial Why I said he is back up only, to go against smaller worse Centers. I agree to some extent though, i not a fan of his because I want my big men to be able to block a shot or two in their life and grab a board

Hear me out, sengun, cooper flag, scottie barnes, iq, rj. How? Poetel grady future picks not 2025 I'm talking like 2-3 maybe a second or 2 as well along with shead maybe mogbo to or even boucher
Jakob Poeltl is one of the Top 15 centre in the NBA I realize Jakob is like a horse what I mean you have to trained him to be aggressive you have to force him to perform the man is just a person you have to light fire 🔥under to blaze. He wants to always make the right play but not see his potential so if I was the Raptors I wouldn’t trade him
go look at his contract, player option in 2026 and ufa. means you pay hartenstein money of 30-35 million in summer of 2025 early extension or he will likely leave for nothing. if you pay yak, have to trade RJ cuz rogers wont pay luxury tax season after. thats your decision now.
so with yaks player option in 2026 where he is UFA, you have to pay him hartenstein money of 30-35million for 4 years in summer early extension of 2025. that means you cant pay RJ cuz rogers wont pay luxury tax season after so have to trade RJ now for max value. you slow roll yak into contract year like siakam/fred you know what happens. two 2nd at 2026 trade deadline for an expiring, or zero when he is UFA and signs with a playoff team.
Yak is going nowhere, why do you guys always want to move a cornerstone. The first thing when building a home,a proper foundation. Yak to me is always one of those piece. Yak is mature and practical. We drafted him and got him back,he's going nowhere we will nurture him till our next championship. Screw allthe other teams, we're not your farm team. You go Yak a true Raptor.

They should keep him. He just turned 29yrs Oct 15. In 2 to 3 yrs the team as a whole will mature into a contender, if everyone stays healthy. It's hard to find a good centre in this league.
Move Poeltl either now or trade deadline, remember Poeltl has a player option after next season and his value right now is high.....
cant keep yak and rj both, rogers wont pay luxury tax. yak has a player option in 2026 so he is UFA at the end of 2026 season. yaks gonna be looking for hartenstein money in early summer 2025 extension of 30 million or more for 4 years to stay in toronto on a rebuilding team. he will get paid anywhere he goes. so toronto likely have to pay 35million a year for 4 years with new us cable tv contract coming in 2026.
Dude we need to just keep him. It’s so dumb ti trade him and then spend time trying to find another Yak. If the offer isn’t insane then just keep the guy he’s awesime
I agree with you. Keep him
he has player option in 2026 so he is ufa after next season. means if you dont pay him hartenstein money of 30-35million a year for 4 years in summer of 2025 early extension, he is an expiring. and you know what happens when you slow roll an expiring like siakam/fred. and if you pay yak, have to trade RJ cuz rogers wont pay luxury tax.
so the decision is now before 2025 trade deadline.
i guarantee you yak saying last summer he didnt leave spurs to come to another rebuilding situation, if yak opts out and is UFA in summer of 2026 he will get paid anywhere and wont come back to raptors.
@@giovanni-ed7zq RJ likely isn't part of the teams long term future though... Also RJ is the most replaceable in the starting lineup. It's much harder to find a competent centre in this league than it is to find a comparable small forward/shooting guard. It's much better to keep Yak, and over the next two seasons try to draft a center that can shoot, and protect the rim, so that when Yak enters his twilight years he can be a serviceable backup center.
@@tyleryoung306 if you ask me, RJ is a better pg than IQ. the offence is alot smoother with RJ playing pg than when IQ ever was.

yak has a player option in 2026. means him playing at career best and possible all star level, he will ask for 30 million a year for 4 years like hartenstein. you slow roll yak into contract year and get diminishing returns like siakam/fred. also you pay yak and you have to trade RJ because rogers wont pay luxury tax.
yak contract only reasonable for this season if you want max value. he will ask for an early summer extension of hartenstein money or more to stay on rebuilding raptors in summer of 2025 because he has a player option in 2026.
What. Are. We. Doing. Here
Can i ask who is this mythical AVAILABLE player.
" but, but high picks"
Look at the additions this season Shead, Mogbo, Battle and walter.
Notable outliers here are 5 All Stars (16%) at 17, and 0 All Stars at 23, the only spot in the first round without an All Star.*
Just a copy and pasted note from a guy who did some research of drafts between 89 and 00, I have also seen graphs that highlight this quite well.

If we trade Jakob:
1. Chomche isn't ready for NBA minutes
2. There's no top-5 pick worthy center despite this year's deep draft.
3. Young, developing centers already in the NBA carry more value than Jakob does by virtue of their age alone.

We're probably keeping him. And that's not a bad thing. He's a massive steadying influence for our team. Keep him until Chomche's ready, or until we find someone else who can fill his slot. 7' players are not easy to replace.

Dunn 👀🙏🏽
Yak has option in 2026 so have to pay him hartenstein money of 30-35million a year for 4 years playing at career high and likely all star. rogers wont pay luxury tax so have make a decision to trade yak or rj. you slow roll yak into his contract year and you know what happens like siakam/fred.
yak already said last summer he didnt leave spurs to come to another rebuilding situation. so yak becomes UFA, he gonna get paid anywhere he goes, and he wont be coming back to rebuilding raptors guaranteed.
new cable tv contract in nba kicks in 2026 so players will be asking for more even.
you have to make a decision on yak or rj now because yak has an early summer extension 2025.
@ScottieDPOYY yes big man!
Sorry but no trade unless the put at least 2 2025 first round picks and a young prospect
Ben Simmons ?!?!? Wtf .. stay away from that
Raptor fans have a short memory .
@giovanni-ed7zq that's 2026
@ nah Kelly is a 4 we will never get a rebound if Kelly plays center
cant pay both rj and yak, rogers wont pay luxury tax. yak has a player option at end of 2026 season. slow roll it like siakam fred into contract year, you know what happens. you either decide to pay yak in summer of 2025 now his 30-35million a year for 4 years and trade RJ now, or you trade yak.
thats the situation.
@@dariodmusicofficial Why I said he is back up only, to go against smaller worse Centers. I used to say he is a 4 too but he can't fit next to real Centers.. unless you putting Scottie at the 5 with the bench unit? Or are you saying Kelly and Bruno would have good chemistry lol. I agree to some extent though, i not a fan of his because I want my big men to be able to block a shot or two in their life and grab a board
@@giovanni-ed7zq yes but your idea is to just keep recycling rookies, which has never been done before lol. You got to come up with some real solutions, not just trade off your rookies every 4 years
I would only trade him for a young center and a 1st rd pick in upcoming draft. If you cant get at least that then what's the point?
they can draft khaman maluach in 2025 draft, he is mobile 250lb 7'2 center.
the point is look up yaks contract, he has player option in 2026 and is UFA. so you pay him hartenstein money of 30-35million in summer of 2025 in early extension or you can slow roll him like siakam/fred and gamble. also you sign yak, have to trade
rj with contract year after cuz rogers wont pay luxury tax. so the decision is now.
Hear me out, sengun, cooper flag, scottie barnes, iq, rj. How? Poetel grady future picks not 2025 I'm talking like 2-3 maybe a second or 2 as well along with shead maybe mogbo to or even boucher
Rockets aren't trading Sengun only Jabari Smith is available and quite frankly I rather have him
maybe cavs trade evan mobley for bruno fernandez also? trade chris boucher for franz wagner while we at it. and davion mitchell for jalen suggs.
Jak stays.
so with yaks player option in 2026 where he is UFA, you have to pay him hartenstein money of 30-35million for 4 years in summer early extension of 2025. that means you cant pay RJ cuz rogers wont pay luxury tax season after so have to trade RJ now for max value. you slow roll yak into contract year like siakam/fred you know what happens. two 2nd at 2026 trade deadline for an expiring, or zero when he is UFA and signs with a playoff team.
Who was the team that let Detroit snap their 28 game losing streak again? I wouldn't be surprised if Ben Simmons dropped a career high on us.
That you Sarah? This reminds me so much of my ex gf, always bringing up old drama and you are equally as skilled at it. That you Sarah?
Fire sale? WE DONT NEED TO TRADE HIM 😂😂 if other teams are hoping masai ujiri of all people we’ll sell low keep dreaming😂😂😂
🦖🏀
Package him with IQ to get a bona fide superstar.
and give bruno a max contract, he deserves it.
No.
You go Yak a true Raptor.
problem is yak has player option in 2026 and is ufa. yak will ask for 30-35 million for 4 years like hartenwstein. if ya pay yak, have to trade rj cuz rogers wont pay luxury tax on a new rj contract year after.
thats your choice now.
"Raptors need a center" them get one then trade?? Foh
Aiiiiiiiiiiii
Meh. I say raps Just wait for our teams record come feb before tossing poetl under the bus. We still need to see the whole team healthy with the full BBQ, Austrian Hammer, Big GRADEY ENERGY line. East is soooooo trash this year. Might still have a good shot for 6th. Well know by then if we headed to promised land by then.
INTO THE POOPER FOR COOPER!
The only person I would trade Jakob Poeltl for is Zion Williamson
Completely tank and ruin the team, but we get to see some cool dunks. I LIKE IT
Zion is a PF not a center, they will need a center and a good one is hard to get.
Yak is the man, if you don't want him here, you smell
maybe scottie barnes, IQ and RJ can be team players and each take a 6 million dollar pay cut a year to give Yak a new contract of 30-35million for 4 years like hartenstein adjusted for inflation and new cable tv contract for nba to keep yak on the team?
@@giovanni-ed7zq who shall we pay then? Say we get another Rj down the road. Do we trade him too? Do we trade our next Yak? Or are you still planning on winning titles with 22 yr olds?
@@giovanni-ed7zq again, outside of Magic Johnson, no one leads a team to a title under the age of 26. Quite literally never, even Magic had Kareem for most of that run too
@@YakDPOY dont matter, raptors are in rebuild for 4 years. who is talking about titles?
@@YakDPOY i got an idea for you, write scottie barnes, IQ, RJ, and gradey dick and tell them to take pay cuts of 15million a year combined so jakob can get a raise on his 20 million salary for 4 more years. do it and see what they say.
