The hybrid is inline 4 without turbo. With the extra power from the electric there’s no reason to expect these will not last a long time. 4 cylinder Toyota/Lexus vehicles also last 300k+ miles
@Nima S Yes. No turbo the engine should last awhile unless its a newly designed engine. Needs some years in the market to see how reliable they are. I have watched several videos on the 2023 RX, and I rode in a 2023 RX a couple of weeks ago. I love the looks of it, and it rides great. My main complaint is the loss of the luxurious wood that my 2022 RX350L luxury has. I LOVE my slick beautiful wood steering wheel! The 2023 has only partial wood on the steering wheel, and all I’ve seen is open pore wood that looks much cheaper. I hope they bring back a bit more luxury in the interior, especially the wood, before I buy another. Everything these days is about tech, and I’m afraid we are losing the beauty in favor of contemporary convenience.
Talking about losing luxury items to tech and convenience: the steering wheel only has partial wood because it’s now heated on the outside and it’s very difficult to do it with wood that way.
They make a lot of changes, just like the rest of dealers, this Rx500h have a lot of stuff, that i have not use. It is just an amazing machine, i take to South Carolina, a few times and people just taking pictures. It also have like an engine brake, next month will be one year, all i have is 7000, and my 2017 Rx 350F I sold it last year, just 26000, i did not sell Lexus, caravan get my $$$$s!
The way you articulated how annoying the steering wheel controls are really resonated about how frustrating something so simple can be. HOPEFULLY, because this is pre-production, you can blind press what you know the key would be and it would work as expected. Maybe with that fix it might actually become a good system. It’s a shame one of those most important ergonomic points has to take away from an otherwise superb vehicle. I know people dislike the buzzing 4 cylinder, but until we go electric this is the world we live in. Also, I’m sure you throw on some music at a normal volume and you won’t hear much of anything. Great review ty.
Unfortunately as a 2022 NX owner I can confirm that this is how those capacitive buttons work in practice. My guess is the delay is meant to counteract accidental palm presses, which makes sense in theory but isn't practical. I almost never use the buttons because of how distracting they can be when trying to confirm I pressed the right one correctly twice.

The stalk control is so easy to use, it's quick and you don't have to look down to change settings, the new rx cruise control system has put me off buying it.
When I first saw the new grill design, I was like...yeesh...they've made it worse than the previous year. Haven't seen it in person yet, but from different videos, it's definitely grown on me. Moral of the story, just trust Lexus/Toyota...they know what they're doing! 😜 Two more things, thank you for using the same songs to test the audio. It allows us, without the benefit of being in the cars ourselves, to hear quality differences. Lastly, I bought those songs before I picked up my IS 500 Premium so I could test the audio myself. It sounds great in your video, but I'm happy to say the ML system is even better in person. Nice review, well done.
The side and rear seat are exactly the same as the old. The dashboard space is similar to the old one too that's why you got that odd empty space behind the monitor. I would say they re-used the basic structure of the old RX and replace everything from the NX and Prius. So technically it is not a redesign except the new platform. Car designers are pretty lazy nowadays.
Love this Lexus car!!! But my only fault with Lexus is how every evaluation of there vehicles the speaker has to say “Luxury” with such emphasis!! But Lexus interiors, infotainment, electronics can’t compare to other luxury brands!!!!!
I don't understand your criticism of the temperature knobs. How specific do you want them to be? It says it RIGHT THERE on the display and what's with with the quotes when mentioning knobs??? This is a good review but I feel like you unnecessarily fluff it up with metrics that don't make sense and I'm a BMW guy.
I still can’t understand why there’s this epidemic among car makers to get rid of physical buttons and why no safety regulators are doing anything about it…
Is the steering wheel still heated only on the sides (9 and 3 oclock area) or is it all around? The leather wrapping around the whole wheel gives hope that it might be completely heated, when historically there was that wood trim around the majority of the wheel that was not heated.
The Accord is getting replaced next year, but it's pretty fast. The Civic is "decently fast" but has all the features (Bose audio, leather, wireless CarPlay, etc.). So I'd get a new Civic Touring for the features, and a used Accord 2.0t for the performance.
Hi @thetopher is there any difference between the 14 speaker and 21 speaker system? I’ve been waiting on a 500h but if I’m already paying that much for a car, I didn’t want to miss out on a sound system that may be slightly better than the other. Are they body Mark Levinson except with less speakers on one vs. the other? Thanks!
The base is a 12 speaker, not 14. The base is not bad but the ML is appreciatively better than the base, even for non-audiophiles. If you're paying for 500h I think you should opt for the upgrade. They have availability issues with ML due to component shortages though.
I'm going to wait for the new 2024 model, I think they're going to reconsider the engine going down to 4 cylinders and will go back to 6 cylinders again.
Nice tech but sometimes it’s too much distraction for the driver specially in the city in heavy traffic. That rough engine noise too is loud for a Lexus.
Is it just me or does the engine sound like it's reving to high rpm before shifting? I know my 2007 Rx does this sometimes even after I switched to amsoil ATF...
Nice review! I'm not a big fan of complications where they need not be, but the steering controls make a lot of sense being the way they are. Otherwise, every time your hands brush against them, they would unintentionally change or disable your settings. Plus, the head-up display can be totally turned off so kinda lost on why all this complaining?

They make a lot of changes, just like the rest of dealers, this Rx500h have a lot of stuff, that i have not use.
It is just an amazing machine, i take to South Carolina, a few times and people just taking pictures.
It also have like an engine brake, next month will be one year, all i have is 7000, and my 2017 Rx 350F
I sold it last year, just 26000, i did not sell Lexus, caravan get my $$$$s!
I love that huge screen
the infotainment brightness will be syncd to your phones display when using AA or ACP
Bro, you can press the "cruise control button" on the wheel, you don't have to use the arrows to turn it on/off.
@@chimk1n wow this actually turned me off completely. i know its nothing but stuff like this really feels magnified during course of ownership and it constantly wears on you. also that screen dimmer doesn't apply to main infotinament screen???? what happesn if its night and i want to turn down the bright screen to listen to music? i have to adjust this manually???? i know its petty stuff but at this price range these things were overlooked completely its no wonder Genesis is eating into its market share. still prefer lexus just wish they'd pay more attention to details lke they used to
From what I learned, it seems like if you don't' get the HUD, you can have actual real buttons.
Mazda is soon going to have a 6 cylinder and Lexus has a 4. 😂
I will believe it when I see it. Mazda is all about rumors.
True but the gearboxes are stuffed & they're not cheap to run.
Mazda blew it, big time.
The same RX is 30-40% more expensive in the EU =)
I can’t believe when I test drive this Lexus it was slow and had a 4 cylinder engine for over 60k
Damn. Sound system is great much better than my bmw x5 2019 though I am about switch to this one because bmw x5 don't have reclining back seat that helps my kids rest for long trip
Wow! if i love my mark Livingston!
I am still not feeling that rear quarter chrome, trim piece… Reminds me of a Landau bar from a hearse
Great improvements overall except: the droning, wheezing i4 turbo engine, and the ridiculous price tag for what you get (or lack thereof). Debated heavily over this and the new mdx, and went with the latter. I almost wish they'd combine the two + add the older v6 toyota hybrid engine = beautiful monster of a chimera vehicle 😂😂😂
Very much surprised that to hear a road noise and tyre noise inside the cabin at this price point man. Oh Boy!
most noise you will here, are in the sport mode. and it sound very good, ECO is very quiet
Seems amazing but those touch pads on the steering wheel would kill me slowly everyday because I love simple cruise control
Same. I ordered mine with the head up display. Like I don't care about other things, but just keep the cruise control physical..

@@ARentz07 Yeah. I wanted the nike headlights and HUD. But unfortunately they lumps all other craps into one package that you pay more to actually torture yourself lol.
After some research, I found the trim models with a none hud display trim has a normal cruise control buttons.
Most importantly what color is that paint? It looks gorgeous
Lexus calls it Nightfall Mica. It was available on the previous model as well.
Most definitely!!
I can't believe I'm saying this but I wish they'd kept the cow-catcher grill and old interior. I could sense your frustration. Great review, as usual.
What's wrong with either
I was ready for this review
that button, that you said annoying, that needs to hover your finger long enough, is to avoid accidental touch.
Let’s pray the new RDX gets a hybrid. They won’t screwup the controls like this.
🙏🏼
7/10 folks ✅
What model RX has the camera veiwing the passengers that only lexus has access to?? Maybe that's the 450, cause that model is 100% a no go.
If it has CVT, stay away from it. My 2018 CHR with 120k miles just had its CVT transmission busted. Toyota dealership wants $9000 to replace it. Very disappointed with Toyota/Lexus for switching to CVT without supporting their customers like me.
Bring back the stalk style cruise control, people hate it, but it's an intuitive, ingenious (and more expensive) way to implement cruise control.
The stalk control is so easy to use, it's quick and you don't have to look down to change settings, the new rx cruise control system has put me off buying it.
I drove buses, never use CC. only once i use it in my 2017 RX. very easy change, plus if you already own a RX?
How’s the RX350h compared to ES300h in terms of road noise and overall comfort?
We have one of each. Rx is louder. Both are comfortable, but the luxury trim on our RX more so
When I first saw the new grill design, I was like...yeesh...they've made it worse than the previous year.
ML system gets better after the cones break in.
The side and rear seat are exactly the same as the old. The dashboard space is similar to the old one too that's why you got that odd empty space behind the monitor. I would say they re-used the basic structure of the old RX and replace everything from the NX and Prius. So technically it is not a redesign except the new platform. Car designers are pretty lazy nowadays.
this car has a better grill than the previous gen Lexus’
Bro a GS f pov would be a good idea too bro
2023 Lexus RX350h Hybrid Luxury AWD!
Correct...
I love this car😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️
Many thanks 🎉
Looks great
Absolute amazing !
“Bottom fore play” you said “bottom foreplay”. 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Keep up the great work bud.
yep i like it 👍
Love this Lexus car!!! But my only fault with Lexus is how every evaluation of there vehicles the speaker has to say “Luxury” with such emphasis!! But Lexus interiors, infotainment, electronics can’t compare to other luxury brands!!!!!
The new startup chime seems to end so abruptly.
That sound insulation test was insane Acura should take notes
Waiting for mine, put in deposit months ago.
The exterior design is nuts
I don’t hate it, but something just bugs me about the front end where the hood meets the grill…
Something is off I agree. Although I saw a new one beside the previous gen on the lot the other day, and this much cleaner.
Front end looks like a honda Civic si
@@yournightmare9999 now I can’t unsee it
I don't understand your criticism of the temperature knobs. How specific do you want them to be? It says it RIGHT THERE on the display and what's with with the quotes when mentioning knobs???
This is a good review but I feel like you unnecessarily fluff it up with metrics that don't make sense and I'm a BMW guy.
❤ Lexus
The 2023 Lexus RX shares the same interior with the 2022 Lexus NX?
No, it has some elements from the NX but has its own layout and materials.
I'll go with the 2022 model. The 2023 model is essentially no different from the NX, aside from charging more for them.
I still can’t understand why there’s this epidemic among car makers to get rid of physical buttons and why no safety regulators are doing anything about it…
In all the car companies, Tesla is the most proactive in eliminating physical buttons.
Well RX 500h have temperature nobs + the radio!
Is the steering wheel still heated only on the sides (9 and 3 oclock area) or is it all around? The leather wrapping around the whole wheel gives hope that it might be completely heated, when historically there was that wood trim around the majority of the wheel that was not heated.
heat all over, back and front.
Great review, thanks! Topher, what is your choice between Acura MDX 2023 A-spec vs this Lexus?
I would get mdx a spec drives better and the seats are super comfortable and has great visibility
This is awesome 👌
Where is the iconic Lexus watch? MAN! WHY!
Topher Honda civic sport touring or Honda accord sport hybrid or sport 2.0T?
The Accord is getting replaced next year, but it's pretty fast. The Civic is "decently fast" but has all the features (Bose audio, leather, wireless CarPlay, etc.). So I'd get a new Civic Touring for the features, and a used Accord 2.0t for the performance.
Used Accord 2.0T for sure.
Pleasing everyone is totally impossible!
Whats the Top speed ?
Rav 4 Hybrid it´s easier to cancell cruise control just touch once
I own a Rx 500H which is a F sport but if you everyday driving just get a Rx350
The old one is better by a standards this one interior is like Toyota interior than lexus
I'm going to wait for the new 2024 model, I think they're going to reconsider the engine going down to 4 cylinders and will go back to 6 cylinders again.
more horse power, from the Rx 500h 4D! on the clock 130.
Nice tech but sometimes it’s too much distraction for the driver specially in the city in heavy traffic. That rough engine noise too is loud for a Lexus.
Oh no, at times it is on the EV mode, if you really need noise go to the sport, going down the turnpike!
Is it just me or does the engine sound like it's reving to high rpm before shifting?
I know my 2007 Rx does this sometimes even after I switched to amsoil ATF...
Can you disable the driver assist warnings?
yes!

Yo Topher, it’s always so relaxing watching your video hearing your soothing voice 😂😂. In terms of comfort & drive quality (acceleration/smoothness/reduction of jolting), how does it compares to BMW IX 40s? Would love to hear your opinion ❤
Look's good, terrible decision to drop the 3.5L. Welcome to the new world of clattery turbo 4 poppers that are good for maybe 100k mi
Considering how robust Prius powertrains have been, I think there won't be a problem with this Lexus.
@@faeinthebaymaybe you should ask an _honest_ Toyota/Lexus technician that isn’t drunk on the cooperate kool-aid about how _robust_ is that Prius powertrain 😂
I’m not saying it isn’t reliable …. But long term it’s _not that great!_
